Tazmaniac Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) The City Connection This street corner hides the secret to the Mummy's curse. Guarded by a secret society "The Order of the Asp" descendants of a Roman legion who saw first hand the power of the Pharaoh. For centuries they have tried to harness the power of the Pharaohs staff, But in an experiment gone wrong they have awoken the dead and now a spell threatens to return the whole city to it's former glory of some five thousand years ago. Can Johnny and his friends stop this curse ? will the Order of the Asp stand in their way or help save the world ? One thing's for sure it'll be one hell of an adventure! Mini Figs: 14 Part count: 3872 (my count is lightly higher than this due to lack of the right elements but it's still under 4000) More pics here. by Taz-Maniac, on Flickr Edited May 1, 2012 by Tazmaniac Quote
Vindicare Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 That's awesome! I like that you made a more realistic Lego base, but for me, it's still a bit much. Don't get me wrong, I love this even more than your previous one, and would not hesitate to buy this were it available. But seeing as they have the street baseplates, albeit it'd be A LOT more of a space taker, seeing as you would need 3 of the street plates. But I love the overall look of the buildings and how they all look and fit so well together, another job well done! Quote
quy Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Another beautiful entry. Though I would certainly question this set's relevance to the theme (Pharaoh's Quest), because the colors and architecture style are definitely different from the currently available sets. What made you decide to make this a city-oriented creation, unlike your other entry? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 So much to love here, though I too doubt the theme choice. Great job on the MOC, though, TazManiac. Quote
Tazmaniac Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 All is not as it seems..... Think Cairo 1930's with a twist! Quote
Smack Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 This is a wonderful creation Tazmaniac! Absolutely stunning MOC that I would not hesitate to buy. Interested to see how you flesh out the 1930's Cairo with a twist idea that you have. Beautiful MOC regardless, though. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Oh wow, truly an excellent creation TazManiac! I love how 'packed' in parts this would be if ever this was made into a set (and a very expensive one). Nice use of the CMS bases for the road too. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 AWESOME 'TazManiac', I really like all the buildings and 1930's cars.....fantastic - must remember one vote for you dude ! Good luck and brick on ! Quote
Gabe Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Interesting rooflines and i dig the little cars.. PQ certainly has some beautiful vehicles and these would fit right in. Is this finished with only additional photos to come, or is it still a WIP? It certainly looks pretty complete for a WIP. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 This really is an excellent MOC, but there really isn't anything that specifically ties it to PQ; unless there is a bunch of stuff going on in the rear (not that there's anything wrong with that :D ). Your Curse of the Mummy is a far better PQ tie-in. Quote
Tazmaniac Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 snip unless there is a bunch of stuff going on in the rear (not that there's anything wrong with that :D snip Oh snap! some one give this guy a cookie! that'd be the twist..... the base that is. As far as being a wip this angle is pretty much polished but there is so much more to see! Quote
Gregorovich Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Another stunning creation, Tazmaniac! The buildings are excellent, but I'm not sure what it has to do with PQ . I'm not sure whether I like this entry or the other one better. Well done, and good luck! Quote
Tazmaniac Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) Ok the pics are up, sorry for the low quality photos I faild to get hold of a good camera And yes I Know it's big and the part count is high and I've tiled too much but this is what I want to see from LEGO as far as D2C sets go. Hope you like it even if it's not what you'll vote for. Edited April 21, 2011 by TazManiac Quote
Yatkuu Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Very nice build, and loaded with action! I love your snooker table, it's the first time I see an actual snooker table in Lego and not the classic pool-sized table. It is a really nice addition to a British atmosphere MOC - maybe you play yourself? Quote
Tazmaniac Posted April 21, 2011 Author Posted April 21, 2011 snip maybe you play yourself? Oh yeah, love the game! Quote
Gabe Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Aha, i was waiting for an update on this! Looks amazing, with a lot of thought put into the design... i love the little storyline, and the way the sections open up is magic! I wouldn't worry about the size - hey, it's still not as big as the Taj Mahal, right? I agree that the comp should be about *our* dream D2C sets, not just about making a design look super-official. Tazmaniac Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) Cheers for the feed back Gabe and Yatkuu. Hmmm only two comments after posting final update does this mean fail? Edited April 27, 2011 by TazManiac Quote
