Plant, Tree Palm Trunk

2536.jpg

Oh you know yesterday I put together the 2009 set Pirates Soldiers' Fort. I saw the palm tree on the box and remembered those palm trunk pieces from old Pirate sets from the early 90s. I remember really liking those pieces and looking forward to building palm trees again. But then to my dismay, it ended up being this large <insert that tiresome argument> tree trunk monstrosity:

I'm checking the availability of buffer beams (the new ones in complete assembly) on BrickLink, and noticed that there are 2 different types (not counting the version for locos with the plow):

TYPE 1:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=64424c01

used in...

7897 Passenger Train 2006

7898 Cargo Train Deluxe 2006

10194 Emerald Night 2009

7597 Western Train Chase 2010

TYPE 2:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=91968c01

used in...

7938 Passenger Train 2010

7939 Cargo Train 2010

4841 Hogwarts Express 2010

10219 Maersk Container Train 2011

I have only copies of TYPE 1, can someone explain to me how exactly is TYPE 2 different? Thanks!

Type one has the pin that holds the magnet hanging down further than type two. It really doesn't affect it at all, so basically treat them equally.

I assume they found the original design wasn't strong enough

This pic shows the difference, I suppose it could make a difference if the 'hanging down' bit got in the way of other elements

I hadn't realised the sealed type had been around since 2006, where has the time gone!?

The type 1 is useless on 12 volts train track

Good point, even tho it doesn't concern myself.

Thanks everyone for clearing this issue up

Hi there!

The picture you posted is not the original, because the two windows next to the large frontwindow are covered with a red custom sticker. Be aware of that, you have to sticker it yourself!

I used this part for building a red version of the 7939:

Hello everybody,

I am currently making a RC-version of the 4511 High Speed Train.

I can not find an item on Bricklink. Enclosed you can find it. Does any know what it is called?

Kind regards

Hi guys, in an instruction for a flatbed car found somewhere on Railbricks, I found a unknown to me type of train wheels.

How is this part called and where can I find it (sets / bricklink)?

Thanks in advance.

That looks like te train wheels used for all rolling stock since the 9v days. I'd imagine that there wasn't a proper part in LDraw for the metal axle when the instructions were produced so they subbed a 4L bar.
