I'm going big, Bones A, B and C type all over the place, torsos in batches of a dozen.

It's work in progress, here is the right leg:

Stay tuned.

Exciting! Can't wait to see further updates. Of course, before it's done you'll have to build it in real life so you can assure us it will be structurally stable. (Unless you already have?)

Interesting choice of colors. Are they placeholders for more basic colors, or are they just to take advantage of LDD's diverse color palette?

Stability will be an issue that is very hard to predict without building the MOC. I might try to do it for real when the digital model is completed.

:oh:

That is going to be insane. What do you have in mind for the head?

I will try and shape some kind of head using the bone pieces. I might add some shells (armor) to help give some shape though.

Big IS beautiful :sweet:! Looks impressive and I'm eager to see the thing getting more parts added. Looks a bit like the skeleton of Arnold's T-800!

Are you going to be covering the entire thing with armour?

Well I've added armor (shells) already, which will be seen in the next update. But if you study the pictures carefully, you may realize that there is only few balls the are free to have armors added.

I've now reach the fingertip of left hand. The arm might have turned out a bit short here, but please understand that I'm building this to learn how to handle the parts in LDD, and also learn how to build sturctures with these parts. I'm confident that I'll have another go at a big figure, where proportions and the appearance of the creature are the main priority

.

I've changed colours, the orange beams are all the single C-type beam that the system currently have. C-type beams with ball cups at each end is vital in builds like this, due to (1) beams having balls at the middle, and (2) torsos having balls and no ball cups.

Awesome! I made a life sized arm out of Bionicle pieces a few years ago, very similar to this. Can't wait to see this thing complete! Are you making a head?

no I'm loving it. :sweet:

you can't talk them into adding that double cup to pick a brick, can you? I'm not qualified to hop into lugbulk and no-one's selling any on bricklink. I can only get one per $13 set.

not meaning to whine, but I want to be able to build something awesome like that :sceptic:

Yes, some of the shapes I've made to the build is rather strange.

The C-type bone really should be in pick a brick, I have to agree with you. The reason why it isn't is surely because no heroes use it.

Hopefully it will change.

I commend your determination in building this big - has your computer slowed from the amount of pieces?

I'd love to see how your model transfers to real bricks though, to answer the question of how well the bones handle being part of such a large figure. As you made the limbs, were you placing the bones to create a certain shape, to allow articulation or to make stable structures? I'm having trouble telling with so many pieces, but it looks to me that the 4 C-bones at the elbow won't provide elbow-like articulation.

In regards to the necessity of C-bones, I've been looking for solutions with only Hero-system pieces (The 4 C-bones I have are absolutely essential to any of my larger-scale builds). The best alternative I've found is similar to in Raw-Jaw and Fangz, where a Av-Matoran connector is used to join two bone pieces in opposite directions.

Your progress shot with armour reminds me of the difficult of building large scale Bionicle figures - the pieces are simply too small for the model, and most don't have wide and flat shapes that you can use to "tile" over the outside of the model to create an uninterrupted surface. Tiling torso armour might work though, and I'm hoping that the two new 3.0 "shield/hand" pieces will be suitable as well. It would take a while before I accumulate enough of the pieces to try building that big though.

I look forward to seeing the rest of this model. :sweet:

Well there a lot of words, let's see, "Amazing".That's a good word. "No heroe has lived to tell the story". I think that this a BIG project, of course, the structure looks like very solid. Maybe is just me but... I don't like very much the colors.

This is very interesting, though with the way that structure is made, those pieces are gonna twist and bend everywhere
