Capt. Stabbin Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Hello Everybody. I've decided to share with you, what I have been working on the last couple months. Since I have dived head over heels for LEGO trains, I decided to start my own city for my trains to travel around. I have decided to base most of my buildings on the city of Falmouth Jamaica, and a couple from Charleston South Carolina. The earlier being the greatest concentration of colonial Carribean Georgian architecture in the Caribbean. So therefore, my city is located on a small island in the Caribbean. My city will always be a work in progress, as you can tell. It will be pieced together whenever I have the means and pieces to do so. Just like real cities, Garden Grove will continously be evolving and changing. It's a slow process though, having to wait until I can afford pieces and so on. So here is the begining of my never ending project. I love this hobby! Overview The main street Small Houses Thanks for checking out my town. C & C welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Captstabbin Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Very nice start on your town layout Capt. Stabbin, I really like your neighborhood of houses so far - simple yet very effective design, the colorfulness looks very Caribbean-ish. Good job so far and looking forward how this one will develop. MetroiD Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 You're off to a very nice start and I think the semi-rural area you've got going on there right now looks wonderful :) Besides, you've got two gorgeous trains to run around that layout! Enjoy Quote
LAKAbricks Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) A good beginning for your town. I like the main street buildings. If you also collect pirates, you can use the houses for a colonial town. I hope to see some more houses soon. Edit: Btw, it's always nice to see new towns growing up Edited April 26, 2011 by laka Quote
Capt. Stabbin Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 Thanks for the comments, everybody! what is that yellow stuff hanging? It was supposed to be dead leaves, but it ended up looking like bananas. Something I will be changing in the future. Quote
LAKAbricks Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 It was supposed to be dead leaves, but it ended up looking like bananas. Something I will be changing in the future. I never noticed those dead leaves, until now. But I think they do their job pretty well. I saw palms like that not long ago in Brazil. Quote
Vindicare Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Assuming you're going for the rural look as opposed to modern city life, you should buy some of those huge lt. grey baseplates and just make some walkways/roads in between the houses and other buildings. Since the street baseplates are such a nice addition to any town, but not in your case. The "brick built"(sort of) way is the way to go, judging by your start there. Very good, well built buildings. LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Awesome buildings! I like that style and I like the garden too. The Emerald Night and the Maersk Train are two jewels in you lovely layout! Quote
