Jalkow Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 (edited) Look what I found on the internet! It seems to be an Atlantis-exclusive, setnumber 10223. I'm going to search for some more information! EDIT: Ah, I found some more pictures and information: set 10223, The Final Ruins, is the grand-finale for the Atlantis-line. The theme will be ended in style, by going back to the colour scheme of the first wave of sets: limegreen instead of yellow. The set features a big round Atlantish theatre small temple and a statue, and three Atlantis-explorers, with a small vehicle. Okay, time for some pictures: Okay, I guess you all know that this isn't a real set. It's my entry for the D2C-contest! Here's the story: As I don't have any Ninjago or PQ sets, it wasn't hard to pick a theme. Then I wonderd what I missed the most in the Atlantis-line. That wasn't all to hard either: when the rumours of a Atlantis-line started, I really hoped that LEGO would finally release some classic temples, Greek or Roman structures, like the lost city. But no. Instead we mostly got silly red and limegreen submarines, with huge seamonsters. How sad was I? And realizing that the D2C-sets are aimed at AFOL's, who, if you ask me, ALL would love such a theme, the building started! And this is the result. I wanted to give it a real set'y feel to it, not having it look like a MOC. For me the contest is about building a MOC that could be released as a set. So I only used 'legal' buildmethodes and copied the buildingstyle of sets like the Taj Mahal and the Imperial Flagship. I threw in a lot of D2C-ingrediënts, like huge amounts of silly pieces (these in white and these in pearlgold) and a focus on building-pleasure above a lot of playfeatures. I think it turned out quite nice, I think it doesn't look like a MOC at all. I hope you guys like it, please tell me what you think! Keep bricking! Edited April 30, 2011 by Jalkow Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Great entry Jalkow! I really like the fact that it looks like an official set and at the same time appeals to the interest of AFOLs by doing some Roman-like classic structures not found in almost all of the Atlantis sets (except for the City of Atlantis). Excellent work and best of luck! Quote
Admiral of the Red Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Hahahaha you had me there with the watermarked image and everything Great job! I love the little details like the tooth pieces in your statue's base, and the support structure for the dome! Quote
Athos Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Great presentation. So good that I had to go back and look at the title to make sure it said D2C... Steve Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Great presentation, great build, great everything! Love the statues in particualar. Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Great work here Jalkow! I like the idea that you used to make a set that isn't going to Atlantis it is inside of Atlantis, The idea of using not very advanced building technics never would have come to my mind but that is a good idea for a set. Great again! Quote
I Scream Clone Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Some lovely work Jalkow, a nice effort to pass it off as an unofficial leak as well You are correct that most AFOL's would love to get their hands on more undersea temples be they greek, roman, or atlantean! Love the curved work with the hinge plates. Good luck. Quote
Gabe Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Aha, sneaky with the blurry watermarked image! You got me. Great shapes on the colusseum ruin, really lovely work. Best of luck in the contest! Quote
Brick_Tom Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 I had an idea similar to this, but I'm glad you did yours because this turned out great! I really like the curvature of the building and the use of statues. Good stuff! Quote
TooMuchCaffeine Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Great stuff. My favourite of the Atlantis-themed entries I think. Maybe missing some sort of creature if it's to properly fit with the theme, but a lovely creation all the same. Quote
tomie satoshi Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 you have my vote! its soooo stylish! great MOC Quote
