Sir Dillon Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Hello all, This is a cool pirate island I found on brickshelf by user butanox. (at least I'm assuming it's a pirate island. The discription is 'castle' but it looks like more pirate to me) and thought I'd share it with all of you. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=193435 It looks pretty cool, and the landscaping is really well done. Too bad the pictures are so small. :-( Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 12, 2006 Governor Posted July 12, 2006 Yes, this does look quite good, why do you suppose the pictures are so small? Quote
Jacob C. Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 That looks excellent! I love the vegetation and the design of that islander building. It's very well detailed. Bigger pictures would have been better though. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 12, 2006 Governor Posted July 12, 2006 The advantage of having smaller pictures is obviously they can be posted in threads without the annoyance of them stretching the width in lower resolutions. But the disadvantage is not being able to clearly see what's going on in these pictures. Like this one for example, what's happening here? Quote
Dreamweb Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 That's strange - all pictures are small except for one which is VERY big... Quote
Captain Roger Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I've always dislike indigo islanders but this moc look great Quote
ghoulrealm Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I like the tree creature (ent) behind the temple. Quote
Evil Willy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Wow it looks fantastic! Just what a islander island should look like. I love it keep it up. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 13, 2006 Governor Posted July 13, 2006 Isn't Enchanted Island what an Islander island should look like? I don't think the white building with the red roof looks right for an Islander construction because if we look at the Islander sets we discover their architectural skills are rather primiative - like they the buildings are made from wood and palm trees. The building here looks more of a European design. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted July 14, 2006 Author Posted July 14, 2006 It's actually light grey I believe... I agree with you that the building's architecture doesn't look like an Islander's, but do you think it could maybe be a ruin that they found, and added their statues to? The way the roof (or lack there of) is built makes it look kind of like that to me. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 14, 2006 Governor Posted July 14, 2006 Light grey? I really gotta get me that new monitor soon! As for the structure... You reckon its a ruin that the Islanders have discovered then introduced their own architecture and ornamentation? Kinda like what the inhabitants of Skull Island did in King Kong 2005? (If you've seen the production diaries then you'll know exactly what I'm referring to) Quote

(If you've seen the production diaries then you'll know exactly what I'm referring to) Well, I've haven't seen new King Kong, or the production diaries. So I don't know what you talking about there, but this: You reckon its a ruin that the Islanders have discovered then introduced their own architecture and ornamentation? Is what I meant. :-) BTW, did anyone else notice the various things he uses for foliage, like a green wizard hat? Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 That's a pretty cool Island! I like how he uses the BURPs and the foliage! Quote

So I don't know what you talking about there, but this:You reckon its a ruin that the Islanders have discovered then introduced their own architecture and ornamentation? Is what I meant. :-) In the Production Diaries Peter Jackson said (this is quite paraphrased) the current residents of Skull Island were not the builders of the great wall (and all the statues within) which seperate them from the creatures in the jungle, rather it was built by another civilisation and these more primitive natives came along later. BTW, did anyone else notice the various things he uses for foliage, like a green wizard hat? No! For the lazy show us which picture that's in... Quote
oo7 Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I have nothing else better to do, here. It's in a big one and a small one but it's easier to see in the big one. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 14, 2006 Governor Posted July 14, 2006 I have better things to do but what the hell! Here... Quote
Captain Ironhook Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 What set is that green wizard hat origin from and why is it sitting on the edge of that cliff? Quote
oo7 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 What set is that green wizard hat origin from and why is it sitting on the edge of that cliff? A. The hat is from Professer McGonagle in the HP set Dumbledor's office. It is also in 2 freestyle sets B. It is playing undergrowth Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 15, 2006 Governor Posted July 15, 2006 Maybe the MOC creator is trying to pass it off as some kind of plant... Quote
Captain Ironhook Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 Who are the minifigs in that picture supposed to represent for they do not look like the islanders I have familiarity with. I know this is supposed to be a pirate moc but I do not see much pirates within it. Quote
