Gregorovich Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) Updated instructions for deep-linking Flickr pictures I didn't want to bump the old topic by asking this, so I started a new one. So, I know how to put photos from Brickshelf to Eurobricks. However, my photos from Brickshelf are all grainy. So I made a Flickr account. I uploaded a new photo to Flickr, and an old one from Brickshelf to Flickr. The one on Flickr was much larger and better quality. However, when I tried to upload it to Eurobricks, it came up with "You are not allowed to use this image extension on this board." Could someone please explain to me the correct way to upload from Flickr? Thanks in advance . Edited May 23, 2013 by Fugazi added subtitle
Brickdoctor Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Right-click on the picture, you'll get a little pop up box listing all the sizes. Click one of the sizes. You're taken to the page with one pic in the size you clicked and links to other sizes. Click the links until you find the size you want. Right-click on that picture, open the picture in a new tab or window, and deeplink the URL of said new tab or window.
Gregorovich Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 Thanks, but I forgot to mention I'm on an iPod Touch . Is it possible to upload from these?
Brickdoctor Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Thanks, but I forgot to mention I'm on an iPod Touch . Is it possible to upload from these? I believe you'd be limited to the medium size of the pic, but I believe you can hold your finger down on the photo, wait for the options to come up, and tap 'Copy'. Then deeplink the copied URL.
Ricecracker Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I'll put up a picture tutorial later today, but for now: 1. On your flickr home page, click "flickr.com" at the bottom, to get to the full site. 2. Locate your photo. 3. In the upper left corner, right above your photo, you'll see a drop down menu with email, Facebook and Twitter symbols. Click the arrow to get the drop down menu. 4. Go to where it says "Grab the HTML/BBCode" and make sure it's set to BBCode, and a size format suitable for Eurobricks. 5. Press on the code until the magnifying glass shows up, let go and click "Select All", then select "Copy". 6. Paste that here directly, not into the image inserter. I believe you'd be limited to the medium size of the pic, but I believe you can hold your finger down on the photo, wait for the options to come up, and tap 'Copy'. Then deeplink the copied URL. That will not work, as it's just a link to the page, not to the photo itself.
Brickdoctor Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) That will not work, as it's just a link to the page, not to the photo itself. Even if you're holding down on the photo?EDIT: ...and it doesn't work. I forgot about flickr's 'do everything to make it hard to deeplink photo without link to flickr' thing. Gregorovich Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) Thanks very much, Ricecracker and Brickdoctor! This is a lot easier, as it means I can do it all on one thing. EDIT: it's not working . When I post it here, it just comes up with the BBCode I copied from Flickr but with tags at the end and after the first line. Edited May 7, 2011 by Gregorovich
vmln8r Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) Here's what I do (computer): 1. Copy the entire BBCode for the picture into your post: <a href=" title="rango by vmln8r, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5225/5679646276_77286249d8.jpg"'>http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5225/5679646276_77286249d8.jpg" width="500" height="353" alt="rango"></a> 2. In the above, delete everything except the second URL, so you're left with: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5225/5679646276_77286249d8.jpg 3. Highlight the URL and click insert image: Here's an alternative way, where the image is a link to the relevant flickr page (or wherever). 4. Copy the URL for your photo page (not the image itself), ie 5. In EB, highlight the URL including img tags and click insert link. 6. Paste the URL into the URL box. Edited May 7, 2011 by VMLN8R
Ricecracker Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 You actually don't need to post it into the image inserter, since it's already in BBCode.
fred67 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 You actually don't need to post it into the image inserter, since it's already in BBCode. Yeah... no need to complicate it. The BBCode links back to your flickr stream, too, which is nice.... just cut and paste into your post.
The Flying Dutchman Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks, it is usefull info that will help me as well :-)
Big Cam Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks, everyone! I'm not sure if you ever figured this out using only your ipod, but I recently spent about 10 minutes posting one picture on the forum from my flickr account all on my android phone, an ipod touch should work the same. 1. Go to flickr and find the photo you want. While using your ipod touch the UAstring should be set to mobile so the flickr site you will be at should be the mobile one. I'll use my most recent photo as an example, here is the link I see on my mobile device. http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/bigcamphotography/5707608290/sizes/m/ 2. Once you are at the picture you want, scroll to the bottom of the webpage and click the blue link that says flickr.com, this is underneath the copyright info. 3. This brings you to the same picture but at the normal www.flickr.com, here is the url I am at after clicking flickr.com http://www.flickr.com/photos/bigcamphotography/5707608290/sizes/m/ Note: this still isn't the url you want. 4. From here I hold down on the picture and a few options come up, one is to view image. When I choose that it brings my picture up in a new window and the only thing displayed is the image. THIS is the url you want. I don't have an ipod touch, so I hope you have a similar option, here is the url I'm at now. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/5707608290_83525946bf.jpg 5. Once you have the correct url just add image tags to it and your set [img=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3588/5707608290_83525946bf.jpg] Which yields us this I hope this helps, it took me about 15 minutes to write up using my android phone, I only say that to remind you everything is slower when working on a small mobile device.
Gregorovich Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Thanks, Big Cam! Although I've already been told how to do it all on an iPod, I'm sure that information will be very useful for Android users.
Bjornu Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Bricklink is down at the moment, i would like to ask where i can upload my pictures right now. and how im able to Deeplink them. i tried Flickr but i dont know how to deeplink from there Greetz Bjornu
Erdbeereis Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 EDIT: I'll merge this with the existing topic that has a better explanation than mine.
Big Cam Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Bricklink is down at the moment, i would like to ask where i can upload my pictures right now. and how im able to Deeplink them. i tried Flickr but i dont know how to deeplink from there Greetz Bjornu Read my tutorial a few posts up, I made it for mobile devices, but the concept is the same, you can just skip the part about going to the full site, since you'll already be there. And I assume you meant brickshelf is down, not bricklink, and just like a year ago, when it went down, I urge everyone to find an alternate hosting option, flickr being a good one.
sok117 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Hello, I'm wondering how I deeplink pictures from flickr? I've found out how to get the link for the image, but when I put them in the deeplink box and I select preview post it just shows me the addresses. The flickr links look a lot different from the ones on brickshelf. Does anyone know what I'm missing? Thanks In advanced!
Rick Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 On the page for a picture, click on the dropdown arrow next to the facebook icon, and select 'Grab HTML/BBCode', select size (preferably 500px) and tick 'BBCode'. Copy/past what you get and you're done. But that's basically what Ricey explained here.
sok117 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 (edited) for some reason thats still not working though. This is very weird. I end up with something like this http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6044/5897429289_31f668a183.jpg' alt='5897429289_31f668a183.jpg'> Shopped! by sok117, on Flickr[/img] Edited July 3, 2011 by sok117

sok117 Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 okay so copying straight from the code, I get this Shopped! by sok117, on Flickr now I'm gonna put it in the picture text Shopped! by sok117, on Flickr[/img] and I end up with this. edit: after previewin this post, It would appear as though I don't need to put it into the image text
Ricecracker Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 edit: after previewin this post, It would appear as though I don't need to put it into the image text It says that, if only you'd finished reading the thread Rick linked to.
sok117 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 It says that, if only you'd finished reading the thread Rick linked to. ah, my bad, it does indeed say "not into the image inserter", I guess I did misread that.
