DLuders Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 On his Brickshelf gallery, LUGpol member Nienio recently posted 21 pictures of his Lego Technic Unimog U5000 Trial Truck. He discussed his MOC on this English translation of his original LUGpol post, from which one can get the truck's specifications: * One Power Functions (PF) XL Motor provides a 1:8.4 gear ratio for rear wheel drive * One PF Medium motor is used for steering * Opening hood (bonnet) and doors * Dimensions: - Length = 54 studs - Width = 25 studs - Height = 30 studs - Wheelbase = 33 studs * Wheels = 94.8mm * Weight = 2.1 kg He also posted this : Quote
Badger Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Thats one nice unimog , everyone is building unimog's but who can blame them ! Quote
Brickend Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 One thing about this MOC that intrigued me is the gearing in the rear axle. My interpretation was that the 2 pairs of 24 teeth gears were used to reverse the drive, but this seems redundant when the yellow knob wheel could just be swapped to the other side. Is there a reason for this method in truck trial? Quote
buddy Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 This is a great creation. It doesn't only look like a real Unimog, it also drives well too. ~buddy~ Quote
Benny3000 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Maybe there wasn't enough room for a knob/knob gearing so he moved it forward. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Really well done with this, I really like it. Paul Quote
