This is supposed to be a vignette but prehaps its too big. But its certainly not designed well enough for me to pass off as an official MOC. I just slapped it together rather shoddily to achieve an appearance rather than pay any attention to its structural integrity.

Its a rushed job but I just wanted to build something so here it is...

The Pursuit

Gilbert "Clinkers" McFee, a prospering young pirate dared steal the crowd of King Charles V from the Indigio Islander. How it came in their possession will be left for another story but they soon noticed it was missing and were in hot pursuit of Gilbert!

I like it. I mostly like the bridge; i would guess that it would be the main attraction of the moc. I liked how they were put together. For a moc done in a short time i'd say it was done well. :)

Actually I think this one is somewhat... lame... :P The idea sure is great, but try to use more detailed structures instead of just having some BURPs on a raised baseplate!

As I said, I like the idea for this setting, actually Dana and I are working currently on a very similar MOC:

It still is missing two more modules and the details on the top (the figs and the bushes are just preliminary), I'll show some better quality pictures as soon as we are finished!

And yes, my Lord Admiral, take this as a challenge! >:-)

This is inspired by DMC, I presume? Vigs are traditionally on 8x8 stud squares, so I would call this a diorama. Overall it looks pretty good, but put in some trees, some actual wood, right now all the leaves and palms are growing out of the rocks.

This is pretty funny. I can imagine the bridge having a hole, as hes looking backward it would make for a rather interesting scenario. Nice for just being thrown together.

As mentioned in the first post I just wanted to throw something together quickly so I didn't put much thought into the design, which at best is very shoddy. Sneeze on this creation and it would have fallen appart! The other reason is because I have abosolutely no dark gray pieces whatsoever so it was either the BURPs or nothing. It was just the idea I wanted to put across and originally it was just going to be the rope bridge held up by the two "towers" on either end but I got carried away and built an entire background.

Actually it was inspired by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom because I had the idea before I'd seen Dead Man's Chest. It destroyed now and I've built something else with some of its pieces so I can't improve it anyway.

I always have a very similar problem. Besides my Star Wars collection (which is seperated from the rest of my bricks) I have only a few dark grey bricks.

What I do is expanding the BURP walls with grey bricks, if you put them randomly at the BURPs it is looking like an actual stone structure afterwards.

Please try to build this scene again, the idea is really great and unique and I would really like to see the whole scene set up in a solid Phes style diorama! :-)

I have none whatsoever which surprised me because I thought I'd have a couple to spare. What I've done is amassed huge amounts of specialized pieces for use with the Pirate theme but I've completely neglected to acquire generic pieces. So once I've paid off all my eBay debts I'm going to make a huge BrickLink order to get a tone of generic pieces. That should solve my problem nicely.

This is a good idea! When I get more generic pieces I'll try this.

The pieces are already built into another creation! I was planning to revist this scene when I get some more generic pieces so I can build it properly. At the moment I've got a dozen projects which require some form of design or creativity so when it comes to MOCing I just want to slap something together as fast as possible. So when I have a smaller load and a lot more generic pieces I shall design the scene set up in a sold Phes tyle diorama! It might be a few months though.

I don't mind the use of burps, but foliage is a is a little spares. The use of bridges is good for a quick build, though I like ApophisV and Dana's bridge better :-P

It could have probably used some more aligators too.

And Phes, from what I gather your lego selection is somewhat limited aside from pirate minifigs and pirate sets.

If this is the case, Do you think it may have flavored your choice in keeping so firmly with TLC style of building?

I sometimes will take a small box of some assorted pieces and and challenge myself to use only those. So it's not nessesaraly a bad thing and still fun, but I'll usually come back to those builds with my full assortment.

I've got two questions/comments about this little scene. Is Gilbert "Clinkers" McFee wearing pants? and 2ndly I notice the last pic shows a bunch of natives around a cooking pot or something....does that mean his escape attempt failed and became an afternoon snack for our island friends?

This was one of those creations I intended to defy all laws of official LEGO Company design but having limited generic pieces probably prevented that.

Yes, they're blue.

That image is from another MOC, I've accidentially uploaded it to the wrong Brickshelf Folder! I shall remove it.

i got excited when i heard phes had created an islander MOC !!! i was hoping for the usual LEGO building style construction though :-( complete with digital backgrounds and the like.

well taken photos and good action are a good subsitute though ;-)

Why are there islanders standing in the background who have no participation in this pursuit?

The were part of King Kahuka's throne so I thought I'd include them in the MOC as they were just sitting around doing nothing. I put them to work!

I'm affraid not. Didn't have the time so I wanted something I could slap together as quick as possible. Didn't even put much effort into the image editing and backgrounds.

Like the others have already said, it's a great concept that needs to be revisited. Why and how did the thief end up on the island? (Or will this be explained in later MOCs?) And when do you intend to unveil your latest creation?
