def Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 RULES The game takes place in 24-hour rounds (a Day Round and a Night Round) over the course of 7 days in the quaint village of Lower Brickton by the Sea. During the Day Rounds, excitable citizens take it into their hands to lynch one of the players. During the Night Rounds, the town's population is preyed upon by The Dark Ones! TEAMS -There are two teams: The Town and The Dark Ones. -There are an unknown number of players on each team. -There are no special roles in either team. -Members of The Town will not know the identities of their teammates. -Members of The Dark Ones may or may not know the identities of their teammates. -IMPORTANT! For The Town, this is a No-PM game. Posting in the public game thread is the only method of game-related communication allowed for members of this team (i.e. no Skype, Facebook, Twitter, or whatever.) -For The Dark Ones, this may or may not be a No-PM game. OBJECTIVE -The team left with the most players at the end of the 4th Day Round will be declared the winners. -All players win or lose with their team, so if you're killed during the game and your team wins, you're still a winner. So work together! -If it becomes impossible for one of the teams to win, the game will end early and the other team will be declared the winners. Note: Some non-player characters may be mentioned during the game, but these characters do not contribute to the numbers on either team. GAME PLAY Day Rounds -The day round lasts 24 hours. During that time a player may vote for another player to be lynched by publicly voting in the game thread. -At the end of the round, the player with the most votes is subjected to a brutal death at the hands of the mob. -Votes should be stated in the public thread in bold. E.g. "I VOTE/UNVOTE [name]". -Players may nominate any other player to be their proxy for the day, thus voting the same way as their proxy. -In the event of a tie, the first player to achieve that number of votes will be convicted. IMPORTANT! Failure to vote or nominate a proxy will result in a penalty of 5 lynch votes the following day! Night Rounds -The Night Round begins when the day ends and lasts 24 hours. During that 24 hour window, members of The Dark Ones may murder other players. ID CARD - Each player will receive a Character card containing a full photo of themselves. - Players may choose to reveal this card at any time in the public thread, or not. GAME CARDS There are 3 types of game card in play... WITNESS CARD - Play this card to receive a clue about a crime. - Each player will receive 2 Witness cards. - To play a Witness card, post it in the public thread and nominate the crime you want the clue about. - The clue will be sent by PM to the player who played the card. - If more than one player witnesses the same crime, they may receive further clues. If the same clue is received by more than one player, that signifies there are no further clues to be revealed about that crime. - Witness cards may only be played during Day, up to any length of time after the crime occurred. INVESTIGATION CARD - Play this card to identify which team another player is on. - Players can win Investigation cards by solving challenges (more on this below). - To play an Investigation card, post it in the public thread and nominate the player under investigation. Players may not investigate themselves. - The result of the investigation will be sent by PM to the player who played the card. - Investigation cards may only be played during the Day, and do not have to be played on the same day they are won. KILL CARD - Play this card to murder another player. - Each of The Dark Ones will receive 1 Kill card. - To play a Kill card, send it to me in a PM along with the name of the victim. - Murder cards may played during Day or Night, but will only take effect during the Night Round. Cards are not transferable. Use of forged or altered cards is not allowed. CHALLENGES -During the course of the game, at different times of day, at least three challenges will be presented in the public thread. -If you solve a challenge, send the answer to me by PM. -Each player may only submit one answer for each challenge (no second chances or revisions!) -The first player to send me the correct answer will win an Investigation card. -If no fully correct answer is received within the challenge's allotted time, the player whose answer I deem closest to the solution will win the Investigation card. -The winner of the challenge will be announced in the public thread. Finally... Note to The Town: Although the odds may seem stacked against you, the game is really yours to lose. A considered assessment of the clues is the key to your success. Have fun! def Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 It's morning in New Lower Brickton by the Sea. The Town Elder has summoned a morning meeting of the townsfolk. People, in order to prepare for the alignment this weekend, we must be vigilant. I've requested a special guest today to speak on the topic of vigilance, New Lower Brickon by the Sea's most famous resident, the renowned security expert Hing Leigh. Gasps spread throughout the crowd; Leigh was a resident of course, but due to constant swarms at public appearances, he had become a hermit in recent years. As a young man, he had worked throughout the nation and developed a reputation for being able to get into the mind of assassins before they can act. But severe burnout gave him reason for an early retirement. Turning to Bubb Kupp, the Town Elder muttered, Is he here yet? At the back of the room, the door slammed open. Roweena Karnata burst in. "HE'S DEAD!" The crowd made way for her to walk to the stage. Out of breath from the run over, Karnata collected herself. What happened? Karnata explained without going into gruesome detail, "Well, I went to his house to escort him as planned, and there was no answer when I knocked on the door. I noticed the door was slightly ajar. I could hear some flies buzzing in the kitchen, and when I entered, I found Leigh lying face down in a bowl of applesauce." The Town Elder turned to the crowd. Everybody, this is very unfortunate. Somebody seems to have known about we were relying on Leigh's help and has taken him out before we could get assistance from him. And that was their mistake. This town is not without their own resources. Let us smoke out the killers among us... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All players now have 24 hours to place their mandatory vote. They may choose to play their witness cards, but please keep in mind: - there are a set number of clues for each death. - each player has only two cards to use over four days, so cooperation is imperative - their will be a challenge today to win an Investigation Card
Sisco Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Really? Where's that bastard that killed Leigh!? Let him see what I can do with my insanely large muscles!
Brickdoctor Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 So we now have a killer (or killers) on the loose. As if the whole planet alignment thing wasn't enough trouble. Out of curiosity, was Leigh eating sausages with his applesauce?
KartoffelViking Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Really? Where's that bastard that killed Leigh!? Let him see what I can do with my insanely large muscles! Perhaps you can put your insanely large muscles to good use and prevent those planets from aligning in the first place But poor Leigh, what an undignified way to go, lying, presumably on the kitchen floor, with his face down in a bowl of applesauce. I hope he wore pants. If it's one thing accounting has tought me it's that the devil's in the details, and I strongly believe we need some clues to get to the bottom of this heinous crime.
Brickdoctor Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 But poor Leigh, what an undignified way to go, lying, presumably on the kitchen floor, with his face down in a bowl of applesauce. Not necessarily. He could have been sitting in a chair, slumped over, with his face in the bowl on the table. That would be a logical place to be eating a bowl of applesauce at. (that is, if he used tables) If it's one thing accounting has tought me it's that the devil's in the details, and I strongly believe we need some clues to get to the bottom of this heinous crime. I believe you need to specify the crime you want to investigate.
Donut Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I like your style Carly! I say let the cards do the talking.
def Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 I believe you need to specify the crime you want to investigate. MOD NOTE: This is correct, but on day one I'll make an allowance, since there is only one crime. In the coming days, specifying will be a necessity.
RileyC Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I can still see it clearly. Leigh face covered in applesauce in a disgusting, but highly erotic way. It's such a shame we lost him when we needed him the most. Carly and Donena we need those witness cards. Report back when you have some clues.
MacK Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Oh dear it appears that our situation is getting worse by the minute. We are on a tight schedule so it's important that we accumulate all of the clues we can, that being said we need to be careful not to waste them. In our war to rid ourselves of the Dark Ones we'll all need to cooperate in order to have any chance of success. Donena and Carly will you be willing to share your clues with the rest of us?
Donut Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Donena and Carly will you be willing to share your clues with the rest of us? Certainly, the clue I received is this: Your clue, which you may share or keep to yourself: Without a doubt, the killer was dressed mostly in black. Dressed mostly in black. I assume by this that hair color does not matter.
RileyC Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Dressed in black... This is a pretty good clue. So from the group, this could be Camanakin, Carly, Ram or even Craig. This still is a pretty big group to choose one person out of. Let's hope the other clue can assure us of the killer.
Sisco Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 So who's dressed in mostly black? -Camanakin Skywalker -Scotty Pie -Carly Vikera But I'm sure it's not that simple.
def Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 MOD NOTE: Please ignore the timestamp in Donut's quote above. 1) They take players out of the game 2) They are not evidence of veracity ie: I'm Donut
Sisco Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 And I'm obviously wearing grey chainmail, Roweena. I have matching breeches as well.
MacK Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 So who's dressed in mostly black? -Camanakin Skywalker -Scotty Pie -Carly Vikera But I'm sure it's not that simple. Don't forget the man on the witness card I think we should also wait until we learn the other clue before we start jumping to conclusions.
Brickdoctor Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 This still is a pretty big group to choose one person out of. Let's hope the other clue can assure us of the killer. I think narrowing things down from nineteen to three or four is pretty good. And I agree, hopefully there is another clue (as in, not only one clue, in which case the same is provided to both players) that can help eliminate even more suspects.
MacK Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Wait a moment, it seems that Craig Otoko didn't mention Ram Strut on his list.
RileyC Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I think narrowing things down from nineteen to three or four is pretty good. And I agree, hopefully there is another clue (as in, not only one clue, in which case the same is provided to both players) that can help eliminate even more suspects. I guess it's pretty good. However at this stage I don't not feel confident to make a vote. This hope Carly can come back soon so we can plan and discuss our voting well
Big Cam Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Dressed mostly in black? It's good to get a clue, but does this mean someone saw them in the light and they know the clothes are black, or was it dark and therefore they looked like they were dressed in black? I hope the next clue is a little more specific. And I'm obviously wearing grey chainmail, Roweena. I have matching breeches as well. Why jump to defending yourself when no one has accused you?
Sisco Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Wait a moment, it seems that Craig Otoko didn't mention Ram Strut on his list. I missed one, that's totally significant. *CONSPIRACY!* Why jump to defending yourself when no one has accused you? I merely mentioned I was wearing grey chainmail, not really jumping to defend myself.
MacK Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I missed one, that's totally significant. *CONSPIRACY!* It's nothing personal, I'm just stating a fact. While I do find your incomplete list, and quick defence suspicious, I shall reserve full judgement until we gain more insight.
Sisco Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 To be honest, he looks like he's wearing too much brown to be 'mostly black' to me anyways. That's why he wasn't on my list. [note] I meant to add a ' after conspiracy in that last post, sorry. [/note]
Brickdoctor Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I guess it's pretty good. However at this stage I don't not feel confident to make a vote. This hope Carly can come back soon so we can plan and discuss our voting well I don't think anyone is. I definitely feel more confident than I did at the beginning of the Day, though. Why jump to defending yourself when no one has accused you? Dressed in black... This is a pretty good clue. So from the group, this could be Camanakin, Carly, Ram or even Craig.
def Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 MOD NOTE: Challenges will appear at different times during the game day, to be fair to players in all time zones. Challenge 1 The first person to PM def all the things wrong in this picture will win an INVESTIGATION CARD. Players may only submit a single answer. If nobody can solve this simple little puzzle within six hours, the closest answer will win.
