LandShark Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Firstly, I would like to say that this is the first time I've ever shared any of my own Lego creations on the internet, so any tips on how to improve my layout are welcome. Also, these figures (current and future) will be Purist. So no Brickarms/forge and no painting or anything like that. Acknowledgements: This was partially inspired by This and This. I will try to update this at least weekly, and I have a new Photo Studio arriving soon, so the photos should look better in later weeks. Well, onto the first one! The Ex-Jester: Description/Back-story: He used to be the Royal Jester for the Crown Kingdom, but one day people stopped laughing, his act had gotten old. The King hired a new jester, and he was thrown out, onto the streets, homeless and penniless. His outfit is now torn and losing it's colour, but one day he'll get his revenge... The Armour Salesman: Description/Back-story: This man is the owner of the only Armour stall in the Market Village, an expert on armour, he knows what's right for what job. He is also in direct competition with the Blacksmith of the village, who also supplies armour. The Crown Assassin: (sorry for the blurry pictures for this one, I'll be making more of them soon anyway) Description/Back-story: Sometimes when an army is too unnecessary (or weak) to kill someone, the King sends in his private assassins. The citizens of the kingdom don't know about them, and that's probably for the best... The Crown Lord/Earl/Duke: Description/Back-story: One of the high-up titles in the Crown Kingdom, and a close friend of the King. He is the Lord/Earl/Duke (anyone know which is the most appropriate?) of the part of the kingdom furthest away from the Barren Wasteland (The Evil Wizard's territory), and doesn't like getting caught up in war matters . Generic Peasants : Description/Back-story: Not much to say about these guys, really, but no kingdom is complete without them. And that's all for this batch. Like I said before, I'll try to update this at least weekly, with batches about this size. I've got a big supply of figures I've already made to use up, including some which are a lot better than these ones, in my opinion. So keep checking back! Constructive criticism is completely welcome. Quote
lakuda Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Nice combos did you make here, great add on for some Castle MOC Quote
Sandy Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Hmm, your figs are not bad by any means, but they're not exactly special either. It's nice that you wanted to show them to us, but maybe you should try to build a MOC for them or make up a story that ties them together to make them more interesting to view. I do appreciate the purist standpoint, though, for I make my minifigs like that too. It's not that there's anything wrong with using decals or painting figs or buying third-party items for them, but that's just not what I like to do. He is the Lord/Earl/Duke (anyone know which is the most appropriate?) Lord is a generic term for all noble men that own their own piece of land. Counts rule a county (earl is a British equivalent of a count) and dukes rule a duchy, which usually consists of several counties. There are other terms for lords as well, such as baron and marquis. Your figure can be anything you like, but if you're looking for a generic term, that's "lord". Quote
LandShark Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Thank you both for your comments. Hmm, your figs are not bad by any means, but they're not exactly special either. It's nice that you wanted to show them to us, but maybe you should try to build a MOC for them or make up a story that ties them together to make them more interesting to view. Yes, my original idea for this was a showcase for the minifigures I put in MOCs, but I don't currently have enough pieces as I need for the things I had in mind . But I have got some small MOC's/diorama's that I have been working on, and I'll try to post them as soon as I can (hopefully once my aforementioned Photo Studio arrives). Quote
Fabjoueauxlego Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Great ! Where does The Crown Lord/Earl/Duke body come from ? Never seen it before... Quote
LandShark Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Great ! Where does The Crown Lord/Earl/Duke body come from ? Never seen it before... His body (and legs), come from the King from the 2007-2009 Castle theme. But only in the later sets (This and This, to be precise). Thanks for the comment. Quote
FettJango Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Those are some very nice purist figs. As a Castle/Kingdoms fan, I really like them, and also enjoy the backstories. I can't wait to see those dioramas! Keep up the good work. Quote
Hoboman Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I really like these. Some nice combos. My favorite is the Armour Salesman. I just like how he looks. But they are all nice. Quote
LandShark Posted August 1, 2011 Author Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the comments. I really like these. Some nice combos. My favorite is the Armour Salesman. I just like how he looks. But they are all nice. Yeah, I though he was one of my better ones, very simple, too. The head/hair combo went surprisingly well together. Anyway, I'll try to have a new batch up tomorrow. UPDATE: I'm having some problems with my computer, I was aiming to get a new batch up today, but I couldn't manage to. I have a family thing going on tomorrow, so I might not be able to post the new batch 'till Friday. Edited August 3, 2011 by LandShark Quote
LandShark Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 A bit later than I said, but still, here I am with batch 2! Thanks everyone for the comments so far, let's get started! Dwarven Lumberjack: Description/Back-story: Hailing from the Dwarven lands, the King hired him to tend to the trees of his Kingdom. He has frequently been offered faster ways to cut down trees, but he always insists that his plain old axe works just fine. Drunk Knight: Description/Back-story: Rarely seen in battle, always seen by the tavern. The only reason the king hasn't fired him is because he is the tavern best customer, and the owner of the tavern thinks having a man in uniform as his regular would be good for their image. And the King is very fond of that tavern... Female Civilian: Description/Back-story: A civilian of the Kingdom, and I haven't decided on anything else about her. She may own a stall in the market village, she may be related to the Crown Lord/Earl, what do you think she should be? Troll Guardian: Description/Back-story: Probably the figure I'm most proud of. He could be a very elderly troll, who has been guarding something for many years. Or a mutated troll who, because of his unusual strength and long life expectancy , was assigned to guard a very important place. All we know is, your not getting past him... And that all for this batch, I'll hopefully update within a week this time. Any constructive criticism or suggestion are welcome. Quote
LandShark Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 Great Troll ! Thank, like I said, he one of my favorites too. Also, I may not be able to do a big update this week, I'm going to be very busy. But everyone feel free to comment and make suggestions/requests! Quote
Sam Vimes Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Make some Dark Elves and also GREAT TROLL Quote
LandShark Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Make some Dark Elves and also GREAT TROLL Hmm... that's not a bad idea. Anyway, here one last little update, then you'll all have to wait a while for the next one, as I just won't have time to take photos, upload them to my computer, then upload to Brickshelf, etc... So here we go: Male Civilian: Description/Back-story: A civilian of the Kingdom, but of a higher class than the peasants. He regularly helps out on the farms, as he feels he needs to serve his Kingdom. The Skeletor Description/Back-Story: But sir! It's getting closer, we can't stop it! It's a - AHHH! That's it for now, as always suggestions/requests are welcome. Also, my Photo Studio has arrived, so when the next batch finally arrives, the photos will be even better. So, farewell for now. I'll still be able to reply to comments, so go ahead, click 'add reply'! Quote

K-Nut Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Good job LandShark. I like how you make these with a distinctive look without anything too complex. I look forward to the next batch of these. Quote
