Modulex Guy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hey EB members! I thought I would share some of the more wild cars that cruise around my town! First is a Datsun Fairlady Z done in a Japanese tuning style called "bosozoku" which features wild suspension set ups, massive camber, huge exhaust pipes, and radical body designs! This car is build to minifigure scale, 5 wide. The wheels are from "ChromeBricks" and use my building technique to have the wheels attached to the car in a cambered out and turned position. Rear view: The next car is the "Voodoo Idol" Based on a real car made by Voodoo Larry Kustoms. The LEGO car is made in 6 wide minifigure scale and features radical body lines like the real car. Also, unseen in the picture are the rear wheels which are present and the car can roll with no dragging parts! SHOOT SOME FLAME! And the real car it is based off of: And the "Voodoo Psychosis": The "Voodoo Psychosis" is also based off the real car from Voodoo Larry Kustoms! Hope you like my cars! Comments Welcome! Quote
Corweena Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Hahaha I love these! Especially the Z, I love the oni-camber in the rear with the stretched tire Great work! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Fantastic job capturing these interesting and uniquely-designed custom cars in brickbuild! Incorporating a working wheel suspension in a minifig-scale car is genius. My favorite among these is the Voodoo Idol. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 AWESOME looking cars 'Polish Guy'......your 'Voodoo Idol' model is just beyond AWESOME - just love the flames out of the exhaust ! Brick On Drive On ! Quote
L@go Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 You're good at this. The two at the top are a bit too cartoonish for my taste, but the Voodoo Psychosis is just spot-on and looks just like the real thing. It doesn't look like it's too far from being able to seat a minifig, either, if you replaced the 2x2 plate underneath the roof with 2x1 plates on the side, or replaced the four 2x2 tiles with two 2x4 tiles, and managed to squeeze in some 1x4 panels on the sides... although that last thing might be impossible structurally, I don't know. But it sure looks good! Quote
Aanchir Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Love this! Rarely do you see such radical vehicle designs in LEGO-- these even outclass some of the more bizarre Tiny Turbos in terms of unusual designs! And the fact that they're built with so much complexity is admirable. I like the second and third most because they look very cohesive. Not so much with the first... while I understand what it's trying to replicate, the end result looks like it's ready to fall apart. Some parts like the hinged back window and the front wheel wells also look a bit blocky compared to the hood. Still, the complexity of what these models are trying to replicate is what makes them most impressive, especially at this scale. So any effort is admirable no matter what flaws might appear in the final LEGO versions. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Funny cars but clever realization! Great work! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Neat cars 'Polish Guy'. That "Bosozoku" style is really is very radical and the hot rods are very good recreations. Great job on these Quote
Brickadier General Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 These are really good, but my personal favorite is the Voodoo Idol. It's pretty sleek looking, and you made good use of the way you can link the flame pieces together. My only suggestion would be to put a 1x2 tile on the very front of the car since the rest of the body is studless. Good work all around! Quote
prateek Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Awesome job buddy. I really like the two American cars. Sand green is a really nice colour for the hot rod Quote
