Bob Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 CHAPTER ONE - REVENGE "We now take you to Brenda Barrett, live in downtown Lexington." "Thanks Al. I'm here, live, in downtown Lexington, where Chief of Police Arnold McGovern (def) has been found dead. Now, the police aren't telling me anything, in fact, no one is telling me anything. However, I'm sure we'll find things out later as time goes on. With Channel 4, I'm Brenda Barrett. Back to you in the studio, Al." Mayor Bob, Deputy Chief Scott, and a doctor stand at the scene of where the Chief lays in the fountain, dead. "Can you tell me what killed him?" Scott asked. "No, I'm afraid not." the doctor says. "Why not?" she asked. "You're a doctor, aren't you?" "Damnit, lady! I'm a doctor, not a coroner!" "Alright, doctor, calm down." Mayor Bob starts. "We've got a problem here. Is this a homicide, or an accident?" "At the moment, I'm going to have to rule this a homicide." the doctor says. "Deputy, I'm appointing you in charge, temporarily, of the police department here." "That's excellent news, but we've only got myself and three other officers." The Mayor gets the attention of the townspeople. "According to the doctor, here, this is a homicide. Which means someone here did this. Who better to solve the case than the people of Lexington?" "Mr. Mayor, these are civilians, please let us do our jobs." "I'd be open to, but you said yourself that you've only got limited resources. Besides, part of the police station is under renovation, you need all the help you can get." "I...suppose so, Mr. Mayor." "Then it's settled. All of you will assist in solving the murder of the Chief." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Players (14) Mr. Jack Montgomery --- Mrlegoninja Mrs. Julia Montgomery --- Dannylonglegs Jeremy Montgomery --- ADHO15 Mr. Alex Jordan --- Cralegoboy Mrs. Sarah Jordan --- Brickdoctor Mr. Winston Robertson --- Rumble Strike Amber Robertson --- Peanuts Officer Steven Jackson --- Professor Flitwick Ashley Baker --- K-nut Marcus Baker --- CallMePieOrDie Officer Ryan Hutch --- badboytje88 Mr. James Swanson --- CorneliusMurdock Robbie Swanson --- Jedi master Brick Deputy Chief Jackie Scott --- Fugazi Deceased: Police Chief Arnold McGovern --- def Rules: (Borrowed partly from Dragonator’s Mystery Manor and Red Scare Mystery) 1. There are 16 participants. If you commit to the game you are committing to contributing to the story and sticking with it to the end. 2. You must search for clues. This means that an action must be specified. For example, you wish to search a room for hidden objects. The following is an example of how not to go about this: "I wish to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room". Instead, you must be able to specify what you want to do. For example: "I would like to open the drawers of the cabinet." It is not required for you to specify exactly what you are doing and what you are looking for, but a generalized statement will not find you anything. Act like a detective and you will be fine. I will always give a detailed explanation of a room, however, feel free to ask for clarification. 3. Please be patient with me between chapters, I will try to put up the chapter topics as quickly as possible, but, this might not be so all the time. 4. Please try to avoid editing your posts. If you made a spelling error, simply post immediately after correcting your spelling error. If you wish to add more, a double post can be made, however use this rule wisely. Obviously, you may not make a quadruple post. Please wait for someone else to post before you post something else, unless absolutely necessary. 5. You can reference anything in pop culture, as this is being played real time. You can mention current events if you want to. You can use any electronic device that you wish to use, with exception. For example, you can’t take out your time machine to determine who the killers are. 6. I won’t keep you in a certain room if you don’t want me too. However, you may not return to a room that you were already in, so ensure that you have searched every part of the room before leaving. 7. There are a few NPC’s in certain areas of the town. These NPC’s might have evidence, however they might not. Also, the evidence given by them might be false information. You cannot do anything other than talk to these NPC’s. You can only go and speak to them when you arrive in their area. For example, each NPC is in a certain part of the town. If you’re at point A, you cannot go and speak to an NPC at point B. 8. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. A second failure will result in the death of your character. 9. There are no night actions or chapter actions. However, there are Miscellaneous Actions. With this system, if you’d like to PM me a non-lethal action (I.E; “I’d like to go visit Player A”), then that’s fine. However, things that could harm people (I.E; “I’d like to go kill Player A”) are not allowed. These are only allowed at night. Night comes at the end of every chapter. I’ll allow most anything, so let your imaginations go wild. However, you can’t leave Lexington. That is not a valid action. 10. No Metagaming please. Also, don’t base suspicions on how the person looks. 11. There will be a life-point system. Every player starts out with ten life-points, and regenerates one life point at the end of a chapter. For example, if you fall and twist your ankle, you’d likely lose one life point. If you fall off a boat into an engine prop, you’re likely to lose most if not all of your life points. Think logically. Perhaps walking along the rickety boards in the construction zone is not a good idea. 12. The host is usually always right. If you think he’s wrong, feel free to send me a message about it. 13. Most of all have fun. This game is meant to be enjoyable despite the "questionable" things occurring. Rules may be added or deleted as the game goes on based on game play. You are currently at the crime scene. You have several options here. You may speak to: Doctor Barker Reporter Brenda Barrett You may investigate: -The Fountain -The Body This chapter will end at 10:35 P.M.,Wednesday.
CMP Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Oh no! Our beloved police chief! He was the only one who ever understood my unnatural Star Trek addiction. We must avenge him, dammit! We've lost our...our Captain Kirk!
Brickdoctor Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Without touching it, I'd like to inspect the body for any wounds.
Mrlegoninja Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Well, my god! We've lost someone! We need to find the killer. (Out of Character: I'm assume we do the investigating in Italics?) I'd like to see if the body has any notes inside of the pockets and shirt.
CorneliusMurdock Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Well, that was unexpected. Does anyone know what the Chief was up to tonight? Maybe this was related to an investigation. What makes you so sure it was homicide, Doctor Barker?
CMP Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'm thinking strangled with those handcuffs. Maybe a criminal got the drop on him? Oh, and I'd like to investigate the fountain for anything suspicious.
Sisco Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 After standing in the background for a while, I step up. "I'd like to talk to the doctor, please."
Brickdoctor Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'd be more specific, but it's...a fountain. You could say something along the lines ofI look to see if there are any objects in the water of the fountain.
CMP Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 You could say something along the lines of I look to see if there are any objects in the water of the fountain. Er, that sounds better. I'd like to search the water for objects, besides the police captain's bodily fluids.
Brickdoctor Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Don't forget the possibility that the fountain itself could be hiding something.
Bob Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 Without touching it, I'd like to inspect the body for any wounds. Sarah bends and looks all over the visible parts of the body. She can see that there is a huge gash on his head, where most of the blood came from. Well, my god! We've lost someone! We need to find the killer. (Out of Character: I'm assume we do the investigating in Italics?) I'd like to see if the body has any notes inside of the pockets and shirt. Italics indeed. There's a receipt from 'Mike's Fine Spirits' for thirty dollars worth of various liquor in his pants pocket. Well, that was unexpected. Does anyone know what the Chief was up to tonight? Maybe this was related to an investigation. What makes you so sure it was homicide, Doctor Barker? "Well, there's some sign of a struggle. For instance, the Chief's epaulette's aren't on his jacket where they should be. He also had his handcuffs out. I'll know more when he's taken to the morgue, so the coroner can do an autopsy." I'm thinking strangled with those handcuffs. Maybe a criminal got the drop on him? Oh, and I'd like to investigate the fountain for anything suspicious. Er, that sounds better. I'd like to search the water for objects, besides the police captain's bodily fluids. In the fountain is a few coins. There's nothing really suspicious in the fountain other than what is shown in the picture. There is a considerable amount of blood diluted into the water. However, to see more of where the Chief impacted the wall, he will need to be moved. After standing in the background for a while, I step up. "I'd like to talk to the doctor, please." "What about?"
Brickdoctor Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I suppose we can wait for the coroner to determine cause of death. Can we tell if the Chief was drinking recently?
CMP Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Sarah bends and looks all over the visible parts of the body. She can see that there is a huge gash on his head, where most of the blood came from. Marcus stares at Sarah bend. Alright, so the Chief was a drinker. I'd like to check out the tree next to the Chief, if possible.
CorneliusMurdock Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 What's the time-stamp on the reciept? I'd like to search around the fountain for any liquor bottles.
Sisco Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Marcus stares at Sarah bend. "Watch it, that's my wife you're staring at."
Jedi master Brick Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Ah so this is it we are all going to die. Robbie would like to check the fountain for any blood or markings
badboytje88 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I would like to talk to Brenda and ask her what she thinks happened. After that I would like to call Marks Fine Spirits and ask them if they know: - What time the chef came - If he came alone or with someone - What time he left - If he left alone or with someone - And what he was doing at the place
ADHO15 Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 What a terrible thing to happen in our peaceful town. I've never read about anything like this happening here before. Mom, I'm scared. She can see that there is a huge gash on his head, where most of the blood came from. I'd like to have a look around for trails of blood or blood-covered objects (maybe in a nearby trashcan) while I keep outta the way.
Professor Flitwick Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Chief! Christ! Who'd wanna murderer you, you great man! I'd like to check around the wall of the fountain to see if there is any signs of blood. I'd like to check under and in his hat, please. Also, reporter Brenda, who contacted you about this tragic crime?
Bob Posted September 18, 2011 Author Posted September 18, 2011 I suppose we can wait for the coroner to determine cause of death. Can we tell if the Chief was drinking recently? "Truth be told, not until the coroner runs a few tests on him." the doctor says. Marcus stares at Sarah bend. Alright, so the Chief was a drinker. I'd like to check out the tree next to the Chief, if possible. There's nothing of real interest about this tree. What's the time-stamp on the reciept? I'd like to search around the fountain for any liquor bottles. Last night at about ten o'clock. There aren't any liquor bottles in the immediate area. Ah so this is it we are all going to die. Robbie would like to check the fountain for any blood or markings The doctor moves the Chief's body, allowing Robbie to see what was hidden underneath him. There's a considerable amount of blood on the side of the fountain where his head impacted. There's also a few cracks in the stone. I would like to talk to Brenda and ask her what she thinks happened. After that I would like to call Marks Fine Spirits and ask them if they know: - What time the chef came - If he came alone or with someone - What time he left - If he left alone or with someone - And what he was doing at the place "What? What do I think happened? Well, I'm not one to speculate, because Channel 4 News only reports facts, but with the little evidence presented, I'd say that there is a possibility he was murdered." Officer Hutch takes out his phone, and dials the number. It rings a few times, and then someone picks up. "Hello? Yes, I'm the owner of Mike's Liquor Store. A Chief of Police? Ah, you must mean Arnold, he's my best customer! He came in at about nine thirty, alone surprisingly, and paid and left at about ten. He departed alone. What was he doing at a liquor store? Obviously buying his favorites!" The owner then hangs up after Officer Hutch thanks him for his time. I'd like to have a look around for trails of blood or blood-covered objects (maybe in a nearby trashcan) while I keep outta the way. There's no trails of blood anywhere near the murder scene. Also, there are no trashcans in the area. Chief! Christ! Who'd wanna murderer you, you great man! I'd like to check around the wall of the fountain to see if there is any signs of blood. I'd like to check under and in his hat, please. Also, reporter Brenda, who contacted you about this tragic crime? There's of course a liberal amount of blood where the Chief impacted the fountain. There's no other signs of blood around the fountain. Steven then picks up the Chief's hat. It's soaked in water, but otherwise empty and uninteresting. "A concerned citizen called me after she called the police earlier in the morning. I'm afraid that's all I know about it."
K-Nut Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I hate being around corpses! They make me sick to my stomach. It's a sad day to lose our beloved police chief, but to get as far away from the body as possible, I'll ask Brenda Barrett a few questions. -Do you know if the police were on any big cases recently? -So you were contacted by a citizen, do you know who it was? That is all.
Professor Flitwick Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Brenda, could you remember the exact time she called? Also, I'd like to check whether the hat would've covered up the gash in the chiefs head.
CorneliusMurdock Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 Does the Chief smell like alcohol?
Peanuts Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I'd like to ask the reporter, if she knows about any major imprisonments or solved cases the Chief was involved into. Or if a criminal who was nabbed by the Chief has been released shortly before. Or if the chief had any other enemies known. By the way, has any citizen a criminal record? Just asking.
