jackson233 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 just working on a bridge on which to display my diesel locomotives - other than track and perhaps guard rails, do you guys have any suggestions for other features/decor to put trackside on the platform? Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 How about a little baskett on a winch underneath with some workmen painting or repairing it. A bit like on the Forth Bridge. (Which I understand is finishing soon.) Quote
Murdoch17 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 (edited) I've been working on a bridge myself. I came across 4 of this piece and have been using it for some time. I'm using it with a technic frame and 1 line with 4 pieces of straight RC track. It uses 2x12 plates underneath the places where the track connects to the next piece. I only have one problem: it isn't tall enough! I'll work on a technic LDD file when I can... the actual girder piece is missing though. (It's not in the program.) I'll upload a pic when I'm done with the file. EDIT: The file is in this link. and here is the model without the actual girder part: Enjoy! Edited September 24, 2011 by Murdoch17 Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) This is my solution (bridge and pylons): Edited September 25, 2011 by LEGO Train 12 Volts Quote
kyphur Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 This is my solution (bridge and pylons): How far apart do you place your pylons? I'm asking because I want a bridge (and tunnel) in my Massive layout. I'm thinking of building a small hill for the tunnel where the track would climb an incline on one side then a bridge would come off the other side. Seems like a neat way to incorporate both while saving some real estate on the layout. Quote

harnbak Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 This is my solution (bridge and pylons): I can see your incline is very similar to Olivier Zaceks http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/141316. Click to see his building instructions in LDRAW format. How far apart do you place your pylons? I'm asking because I want a bridge (and tunnel) in my Massive layout. There is quite detailed information on the spacing here http://www.ngltc.org/train_depot/inclines.htm (for some reason google has issued a warning for this page - consider using this proxy http://gamers-nor.com/ to open the page). LegoTrainFanatic Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 On most tall bridges here in North America, at intervals, there are little sections of the bridge that "pop out" the side, or just a walkway along the entire side for a worker to stand on if a train goes by. Quote
SnapLock Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 The "Stand by Me" kids running. LoL what about adding some detail under neath the bridge as well for example walking ramps or a service ramp :) Quote
legoman666 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Just put the supports upside down instead of facing up. Quote
