Endgame Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Winter-Toy-Shop-10199?c=Creator-ByTheme Apparently, winter toy shop is back (even though I swear it wasn't when I was looking into lighthouse island a week ago.) it has been stripped of it's exclusive status, making it the black sheep of the winter line. it doesn't appear when you search for it in the site's searchbar, and yet, the latest review is only from a few weeks back. If this thing has really been revied, i know it's on the top of my holiday list. If there is already a thread for this, apologies! Quote
Locutis Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Thanks for the 'heads up'. I had looked even as soon as on Sunday, but this set was only available in countries outside of North America. When I tried to load it with my country set to either Canada or the USA, I got a 'page not found' error. It's nice to see Lego offer these past-issue sets for people who didn't get the opportunity to buy one. Just to let you know, these posts should go into the Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds forum. Ricecracker Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Yes, it is available at the LEGO store too. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I just read the offical re-release of the set. But I ordered it over a month ago now, so I don't know why the statement was later than that. But I thought I should get it before it goes away again since I missed it the first time. Then it makes me think I should get the bakery also this year before it goes away too! Quote
AFOL SF Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 ...I can also confirm that I have seen this set in the lego store in northern California (SF/Bay Area) last Friday... Quote
autobrick Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 (edited) Too bad Lego won't bring back the 10173 Holiday Train... Edited October 4, 2011 by autobrick Quote
Zeya Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Too bad Lego won't bring back the 10173 Holiday Train... Yeah, that would be nice. But that set was 5 years ago, now. And I also drool over the pine tree piece with snow on it, which goes for $2USD or more on BL. Quote
SSJ2 Dark Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Cool, I was thinking of getting one of these as a collectible to store (or maybe bring out some Christmas for a future child ). So I wonder if the Post Office is at LEGO stores already? It's shown as available at the website. Quote
Artoo Detour Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) So I wonder if the Post Office is at LEGO stores already? It's shown as available at the website. Yes! We had a release date of October 1st for this set, so it should be available at all Lego Stores. Edited October 5, 2011 by Artoo Detour Quote
richb Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 These are available at Amazon right now for $59.99 too, which has the benefit of free shipping in the US with the Super Saver option. The double VIP points promotion through S@H for October is nice, but S@H hammers you with tax and shipping charges, so for a single copy purchase Amazon is probably a better value. Also, I don't know if this matters to a lot of people, but these 2011 editions of Winter Toy Shop are different from the original set from 2009. The box dimensions were changed to conform to the new LEGO standard box sizes rolled out a year ago, and the "Boutique De Jouets D'Hiver / Winter Toy Shop" dual-language set name has been removed from the top right corner. I have not opened a 2011 edition of the set so am not aware of any possible changes to the parts/colors themselves. Again, that's probably not very important to builders, but from a 'collectibility' standpoint this may matter if you're shopping for (or reselling) MISB sets second-hand. Quote
soundwave_sw Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 the Post office was released at the retail stores Oct 1st. It appears these sets are only available seasonally. chances are some of them will be available next fall/winter as well Quote

Ah, thanks for all the information on the matter. This is definatly going to be on the top of my list this holiday season; Great price for piece (even with shipping charges, assuming they are not $20 :P) I do not plan to sell this, so the modernized packaging doesn't effect me at all. Also, regarding what someone said about it's availibility, I was able to sucessfully add it to my cart under USA, and my friend ordered a copy. It's just such a lovely design, and strikes the perfect balance between display and play; and you'll probably see it in a seasonal brickfilm I have planned out for when I get the toy shop. Quote
SilentMode Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I've seen both the Toy Workshop and the Bakery in stock at different Lego stores throughout the year, with the Bakery changing prices (at one point it was GBP 34.99 or 35.99). But sometimes they've been there, sometimes they haven't. Quote
ale8oneboy Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Ah crud. I just ordered it from Amazon (same price fortunately). But I could have grouped it with the other winter theme sets I ordered from the LEGO Shop. Oh well. Looking forward to putting the winter stuff together. Quote
