Help with My Layout Design

Well, first of all I want to apologize for my post a couple of days ago... It was very childish

But anyway onto my topic. Since getting BlueBrick I have been keen to build a bigger layout I only have a 3m by 1.5m space, so here are my 2 track designs:

This is the first one and a single layout allowing up to 2 trains, I plan on building this one first.

This is the second on and is an extension to the first, as you can see it has a double track allowing for up to 4 trains.

Please do post advice and suggestions! Oh yes, and currently I only have the 7939 Cargo train due to the fact that Im currently having an extension built, which will hopefully done by my birthday (May) and I will hopefully get the new Passenger Train!

I'd go for the second one – simply because a double track allows you to run two trains simultaneously. If this makes the space you want for buildings and roads too small, you still can put one side of the loops (on the bottom of the image) or a corner in a tunnel.

And a double crossover track might be a good addition, too, but they have become a bit expensive nowadays...

Yes I agree completely, the second option is a better choice, and a double crossover would look great

I will end up building the second layout, but I don't want to buy so much track in one go, so I'll build the first one, then get track for the second one.

And yes, a double crossover would be great, I have considered that, so when I have 'nothing' else to get, I will get that.

There are only two problems with the theory of getting it when you have 'nothing' else to get:

1) There will always be something else to get. I have doubles of every current train (except the Emerald Night) and my "to get" list is still huge.

2) The price will only go up with time. I stumbled on the opportunity to snatch-up seven of the double crossovers and while it cost more than I really wanted to spend at the time I'm glad I did even though I've yet to use all seven at once.

I would try to connect the two circles for more flexibility in running the trains.

That is a very good point... As soon as the double layout is finished, I think I will focus on grabbing hold of one of them.

Do it sooner than later, they're now starting at $70 and the number available is dwindling also, there only a total of 8 up for sale on BrickLink!

I always feel at least one or if possible two dead end sidings are good for storing trucks and trains on. Maybe because where I live we are at the end of the line and there is nowhere else to go?

Yes, when I have my layout up and running I'm going to make so more sidings, I think.

Oh yes, and did I mention I plan on building and incline? On the double layout to the far left, I think I will build about a 7 cm incline. And obviously I will have to shorten the outer siding.
