All parts and pieces are either official Lego pieces, or LA/Armothe injection-mold casts.

Hero Sword, shoulder guards, vambraces credit to Armothe

Okay, maybe this is a thinly veiled attempt to see which I should get more of for a certain class of knight in my growing army :-P

Armothe customs might be known also as Redbean's (they joined)

Edit: Please judge all entries on the helmit, sorry for the confusion. Armor and MF parts aren't to be judged, I just threw them together with what I had here at University. :-$

Out of the options you gave us, I would have to go with number one. However, I really like the way the LA great helm looks with samurai armor, so if you were to do that, that'd probably get my vote.

The other great helm is really cool too, but I never really liked that style of armor...

BTW, I like your new sig :-D

I prefer Armothe's Great Helm. It has more detail and I find the grey looks better then black. The helm also fits better. I also love the plume. But I dislike the torso and legs on the fig.

It's a close tie between 1 and 3, but I think I'll have to go with 1.

Thanks :-P

Did you do the CGI in this picture? If so I congradualate you on a job well done.173058__yoda_l.jpg

Actually no, the other night a friend showed it to me, and I loved it so much I had to use it in my sig. I wish I was that good at photoshop! I am taking a class in digital photography this semester, and a large part of it is photoshop. I'll try my hand at something like this at the end ;-)

Redbean got my vote. He captured the Lego look in a far better way than LA IMO. Still the LA helmet can be good to make teutonic knights :)

Redbean and Armothe are great artists, I like the way how they handle with details in LEGOish way...

But, as a strictly purist collector, I will give my vote to #1... Loyal to LEGO from the cradle to the grave :-) That`s the beautiful simpliarity which a felt in love with, once upon a time... ;-)

It's difficult to chose for me between nr 2 and nr 3.

I voted for nr 3. This helmet has great detail.

Does anyone have a really good idea how to make these helmets.

What kind of "installation" would I require and what would it cost ?

You can always visit MCN, they have threads on how to customize. The closest you could come would be to buy one and make a resin cast. Resin isn't as sturdy as injection ABS though, which is what both Armothe and LA use. To make an injection mold you'd need tens of thousands of dollars of equipment though...

... "Tens of thousands of dollars" :'-( .

I wanted to make myself a few 100 shako's for my army (they are so expensive), but I guess I will have to keep on buying them on ebay.

Those guys that are making these customized helmets must have lots of money?!

Number one...Always a purist. I guess I've always liked the 'caricature' nature of lego and if I wanted realism I would get those little die-cast hand painted things only kids play with ; )

God Bless,

Nathan

Well, if you go to the Minifig Customization Network they will have a link where you can buy Armothe's great helms (along with a bunch of other fantastic pieces!). Right now they're rather expensive though, $3.50US/helm

You can get the LA helm at Sith35's bricklink store for $1.50

It's not so much that these people have a lot of money you see. These stores are business for them. Any business requires an initial investment, and they hope to eventually sell enough pieces to recoup the cost of the injectionmolding, and more for a profit. It's really not something that just anyone can do, but if you want you can try resin casting which is relatively cheap, and affordable :-)
