Alasdair Ryan Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Hello Yannick, Welcome to the forum i like your instructions you made, i would love to own a model team set,i don't at the minute. Quote
DLuders Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 @ Yannick1988: I like your alternate for the 5571 Model Team "Giant Truck" set; the Kenworth K100 looks quite good at that Lego scale: It's reasonable to charge 15 EUR (~US $19.82) for your "(Instructions) for Set 5571 Giant Truck -step by step instruction to build an alternate model of box 5571 (Kenworth K100) -only parts from the original box are needed. More than 1650 pieces. - High resolution file - http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa466/geronimo7988/LegoMT/5571/5571.jpg ." Quote
Yannick1988 Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Yes 15 euros is reasonable. It took me a lot of time to build it, then after building in real bricks I had to rebuild it on computer which took me even more time. I rebuild it a second time using instruction and, after that I had to make some enhancement, edit steps and so on. All this only with bricks from original box it was a hard work. Yannick1988 Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 I've made a new model for 2556: So now there are 8 alternative models for boxes 2556 4€ 5521 4€ 5540 4€ 5550 4€ 5571 15€ 5580 6€ 5581 6€ 5590 7€ http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Yannick1988&itemID=all Now I'm working on a Concrete Mixer Truck for 5591. N.B. Could a modo edit title of this topic in "Lego model team ALTERNATE custom models instructions for sale" and subtitle in "2556, 5521, 5540, 5550, 5571, 5580, 5581, 5590". Thank you. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) I look forward to the mixer. I have asked for the topic title to be changed. Edited December 17, 2011 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

Sato Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 First of all, Most of the Photobucket links in your first post are dead or broken. Now on with my opinion, Your 2556 alternate looks great, It's just that my 2556 is so dusty I can't take it apart without cleaning it. (which I don't feel like doing.) The 5571 alternate model looks amazing as a digital model, And I got a second copy of that stored in it's box so I'd love to build it. But at 15 Euro with no real life pictures of the model itself I'm not tempted to spend money on it. (Maybe you could provide real life pictures of the models on a site like brickshelf to stimulate sales?) With that said, I understand it has taken you a lot of time to come up with the ideas and build the alternative models and even more time to make the building instructions for them. I just don't think you should be charging money for them but instead make these instructions available for free, And provide a Paypal account for people who want to donate money for your amazing work after they've build your models. That way more people get to enjoy your models and you might even make more money on them then you would with separate instruction sales. (Public awareness and access to your instructions can also prevent the possibility of people buying your instructions, Building your models and then selling them on E-bay under there own name. Which unfortunately has happened before.) But this of course is all up to you and something that has been discussed on these forums before. Quote
Lasse D Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Wait. You are bumping your own promotional thread without having anything new to add? With that etiquette, I will take the oppotunity to promote myself as your competitor and my product is free. Edited August 23, 2013 by Lasse D Quote
Yannick1988 Posted February 4, 2012 Author Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Thank you for your suggestion but I prefer to sell my instructions. For real photos you can find some here (but I don't have any of 5550 :s) http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/300202 Wich follow is free I create instruction to build an trailer of 5571. This is free, and it is based on a file from a french forum http://forum.brictechnic.fr/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=220 (original file is from chris, and I made modification and steps) You can download it there https://rapidshare.com/files/2668764252/remorque_5571.rar I never build it because I don't have the parts. If someone build it, it would be great to have some feedback. This is what it looks like @Lasse D You did a nice job too, but are these models builded with parts from an original box? Or do we need to buy parts? For mine you don't need additional parts, so you pay the instruction but you don't buy parts ;) (if you have the orignal box) ++ Edited February 4, 2012 by Yannick1988 Quote

Went looking for other 5571 alternate models using Google and the results came up with this: Link Removed, As it's not the eBay account you mentioned in your first post I'm gonna guess that he's reselling your instructions? Finding this 'possibly fraud' eBay ad only confirms my opinion on selling alternative instructions, And has made me decide not to buy 'your' 5571 alternate instruction for the simple reason that I cant be sure you are in fact the one who designed these alternate models of which you offer instructions for sale. Looking at your profile page on this forum only confirms that decision, Since all your posts are either in this topic or in other topics promoting this one or 'your' alternate models. Yannick1988 Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 Hello, yes unfortunately he is reselling my items. I contact him and warned ebay. It's really shameful to do that, no respect for my work. I came on this forum because someone told me it would be a great idea to promote my instruction. I didn't know this forum before. ++ Quote
bb15080 Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 if that the only reason is?! probally this topic should be moved to buy, sell, trade and finds Quote

Sato Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I've removed the eBay link from my previous post. In my opinion this tread can stay here as long as you add pictures and possible updates on new alternate models you've been working on. Quote

In my opinion this tread can stay here as long as you add pictures and possible updates on new alternate models you've been working on. Thank you. I asked ebay to remove auctions and they are already removed. The problem is I've no more idea or picture for example and less time. I would like to make an alternative model for the 6 other model team box: -5510 -5533 I don't think anything is possible -5540 maybe a boat? -5541 -5561 -5563 Any suggestion is welcome. ++ Quote
Lasse D Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 @Lasse D You did a nice job too, but are these models builded with parts from an original box? Or do we need to buy parts? For mine you don't need additional parts, so you pay the instruction but you don't buy parts ;) (if you have the orignal box) ++ No. I'm all into scale models, so it's with links to Bricklink in my instructions to help those who miss certain pieces. I have made my homepage to promote the theme. Trying to get money from instructions (or donations) is a net loss compared to the work you put into it, so I stay 100% free. I don't even want to bother people with a "please donate" plead. But I do like your models. Especially the black cat alternate and its trailer. I wish you all the luck you can get trying to sell instructions in this market - I just don't like thread bumping Quote
Sato Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 5533 would be a real hard one indeed, Not enough parts to to really make something different. Maybe a drag bike could be possible but the big wheels are too big and the small wheels are too small to use one as a rear and the other as a front wheel. Don't really have any suggestions besides not forcing yourself to make something, It needs to come from an idea or insight and not by forcing yourself to create something. Quote
