Sorry for the long delay, but I only have one of my old Space sets with me. If anyone has a good tip on dusting these older sets it would be much appreciated :-$ I'll be going home this weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to get the rest done, but until then...let's have a look at my all-time favorite set:

Space Police I: Galactic Peace Keeper

Currently, our Space Police officer has just left Space Lock-Up Isolation Base with a dangerous Blacktron prison in toe. The GPK is used mainly for short-range transport of dangerous prisoners, mainly used to keep a low-profile, being the size of a standard fighter. Destination is the Mission Command flagship of the Space Police.

One of the most popular features of the GPK is the sleek profile, perfect for quiet transfers of prisoners

On either side of the ship is a hollow compartment:

Inside these compartments is the selling feature of the transport: conceiled weapons! Using the simple mechanism shown below, the weapons fold out, and up into attack position:

S-foils locked in attack position ;-) :

Here's how the prison module locks into the ship:

A closeup of the modified 2x1 plate locking into the slots:

The fit is actually pretty snug and doesn't come loose at all. Perhaps that's due to two of the connections.

Here's the prison module that's uniform throughout the Space Police I theme

Overall the ship is one of the best Lego ever developed! Compact size, creative building techniques, and unique ideas.

Peeron lists the following data:

Release year: 1989

Piece Count: 115

Price: $12

So the piece:price ratio is kinda bad, but for a set like this it's worth it ;-)

Pieces: 10/10 <--The two large black corner canopies makes this set well worth it

Playability: 10/10

Price: 5/10

Minifigs: 9/10 <--Two figs are perfect, you can't ask for more (except a specialized fig such as a chief, but those weren't around yet). I just can't justify a 10/10 for some reason

Overall: 34/40 or 8.5/10

If you get a chance to pick it up if you get the chance

those are all great classics! i loved the space police but i only got one small set cause i was into other themes at the time.. :-$

to clean your old sets take them apart and put all the parts in soapy water..better with dish-washing soap i guess..keep them in water over night and then rince them well..let them dry and hope for the best!

thats what i do ;-)

great review by the way! *sweet*

Well my problem is that I have a tendancy to leave them on a shelf arranged for years at a time...

And while this isn't considered the "best" set by anyone (including me), it's by far my favorite ;-) Maybe I didn't make that clear :-P
