Darth Yogi Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Hi. I got these a while ago but I didn't have time to write a review until now. Here is the prize I won for second place in the MCW alien category. Thanks to Brickarms for these wonderful prizes, and LuxorV for the contest. All the prizes are prototypes and they are pretty rare but buy-able at expensive prices. I checked about how much they are by price checking on Toywiz's (a BA re-seller) prices of the protos, and its about $350 worth of protos if bought from Brickarms. So now let's get to the best part, pictures. Here's the whole lot. There is a total of 48 weapons. Joint-Force Sci-Fi Rifle: This i a very nice heavy duty gun. Its great for sci-fi troops and readies them for action. The design and detail is really nice. Also the many grip points allow lots of cool ad-ons. Joint Force Shock Cannon: I personally don't like this gun very much. It looks like a sci-fi hero weapon. I believe that this is BA's design since I couldn't find a gun like it. The ammo clip can come out. The rust molding, (gunmetal and brown) looks awesome and would look even better on a modern or past weapon. Flame gun: I really like this gun. I thinks it's simpler design gives it more of freedom to let it fit in. This is also very accurate on what I think it is based on, here. Z5E Pod Gun: The design of this is good, but it's not one of my favorite. It's an unique gun, I think based on this. It resembles that gun but is hard to fit in with its unique look. Coreburner: This one is growing on me. At first I thought it looked to big, but I think it would work great for a heavy trooper. It's from a movie, and damn it's accurate for such a complex weapon. Image. Joint Forces Long Rifle: This is a great rifle. I like some of these sleek simple designs. They are able to fit with a wide variety of mini figures. Chakram: This is pretty cool. It can certainly be a lot of things. In the glow in the dark, of course a Tron identity disc. Or in other colors, a doughnut, a sacred gem thing, ect... The glow in the dark works great and is pretty bright. Killstrike Saber: This is a really nice blade. It fits in very well with elves, but could range from fantasy to a future weapon. This blade has a very smooth look, and the curves are very cool that even extend to the handle. Kukri, (traditional handle top)(tactical bottom): All the blades are great. The traditional come from the Nepalese people, but now it is used by modern military as a blade close to a machete. I like the tactical handle better. I think it has a cleaner look and looks like it would be nicer to hold. Havoc blade. The design of this blade looks deadly and fierce. With that spike, the serrated part at the bottom and the hole make this a force to be reckoned with. The quality is also awesome with those small holes, and like all BA blades, it is actually kind of sharp. Automatic Combat Shotgun: These next 6 gun are 6 out of my 9 favorite BA weapons. This weapon is really cool. The actual thing is really bad a**. That thing can just tear down enemies, or zombies. Advanced Battle Rifle: This is an amazing modern military weapon. The gun is the perfect size for a figure, and there is so much detail. This was in the latest episode of The Cleveland Show Just a fun fact. Bloop Gun" Grenade Launcher: It's great that this gun is in two colors. I know that one version of this gun is over molded, but not sure with this versions simpler design. The only thing this great gun is missing is that viewfinder seen here. HS-44 Scifi Pistol: Or as I know it Han Solo's DL-44 heavy blaster pistol. I love the Brickarms Star Wars weapons. They are so accurate and not over-sized. This is great for me being mainly a Star Wars MOCer and just these little pieces really improve the scene. L2AX Sterling SMG: Or the stormtroopers E-11 blaster. Just look at the accuracy, with the scope and the angle on the bottom. Wow  I wish all 4 of these I got were gunmetal, or even better, black. ...Oh I mean Scifi Long Rifle: Or from Star Wars the DC-15A. Unfortunately you cant get a pose like that with LEGO. This is my favorite gun ever, so I'm very happy with this, and can be added to my favorite character Commander Bly. All I can really say about this gun is :wub_drool: Here is my ratings: Quality-Lego quality (ABS Plastic) and these are no crappy deigns, they are all highly detailed. Most of them I really love, but a few don't fit in with what I really like.- 9.5/10 Price-I got them for free so no complaints from me. But these protos are very expensive otherwise.- 9/10 Accuracy- The accuracy is almost unbelievable. Almost every little detail is crammed in there. Ones designed by Brickarms also have a ton of detail.- 9/10 Overall-9/10 Summery- These aren't my first Brickarms and I highly suggest them to any fan of LEGO. They are 100% compatible with LEGO, and don't disappoint. I must say my favorite are the Star Wars weapons, which are amazing. Brickarms Thanks for looking. Here is the flickr gallery--> Brickarms review 2 by Darth Yogi. I hope you enjoy. One more thanks to Brickarms and LuxorV and any other mods that may have helped. Please C&C. Quote
mordatre Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 That´s an epic prize. I agree the StarWars weapons look amazing. Will they be in normal production from brickarms? Quote
LuxorV Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Thank you for this nice review, Darth Yogi! I love those new blades , and the SW weapons are just fantastic! Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Very nicely done review. I enjoyed reading it and viewing these images. I must admit that the new BA stuff (inclusive of the prototypes) are really very incredibly designed. Thank you for sharing with us. Quote
Cave Bear Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Wow, nice haul there I hope you put them to good use the chakram is my favourite piece of them all though you just can't beat tron! Quote
VBBN Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Nice review, Some excellent looking guns here, i really like that pod gun. Good job noting it was from the fifth elemnt movie, I thought it was a modofied needle rifle at first Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Great review, Darth Yogi! Decidedly thorough, wonderful pictures to illustrate all your points, and some truly useful feedback for Will. Glad you're having fun with everything! Joint Force Shock Cannon . . . I believe that this is BA's design since I couldn't find a gun like it. The BrickArms Joint-Force Shock Cannon is loosely based on the HALO "Mauler". I must say my favorite are the Star Wars weapons, which are amazing. I agree the StarWars weapons look amazing. Will they be in normal production from brickarms? Yes, Will's gotten some very strong positive feedback from the community regarding those prototypes, and while it's impossible to say exactly when they'll be added to the BrickArms line-up, Will DEFINITELY plans to take them into mass production. Something to look forward to in the future from BrickArms! Quote
TLOR FETT Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I hope GI Brick carries this stuff, I would ask if they plan too but they ignore every e-mail and Fbook message from me ) : Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 I was hoping one of the winners would do a review! Those look fantastic! Quote
the enigma that is badger Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I hope GI Brick carries this stuff, I would ask if they plan too but they ignore every e-mail and Fbook message from me ) : Yes, as an official BrickArms reseller, if and when these parts become available as mass produced accessories, GI Brick will definite carry them. Actually, GI Brick does currently offer a limited selection and number of BrickArms prototypes available for purchase, so you can test them and give feedback, not to mention show Will the best way possible that you particularly love a new item and would want to see it mass produced: by ordering it! Their prices do reflect the fact each is created personally by Will using his home equipment (decidedly more labor involved, not to mention the occasional burn from hot ABS plastic!), but with the quality of Will's current prototyping system, they're nearly production-level quality in terms of crispness of detail. Also, I'm sorry to hear you've had trouble contacting GI Brick, but please bear in mind they aren't at all involved with the production process of BrickArms accessories; they know just about as much as you do when it comes to what new items Will is currently developing and when new waves of BrickArms accessories will hit the digital shelves. You can read more here about why more information about BrickArms releases can't be discussed in more detail. Quote
Bebs Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Wow, that's a fantastic haul of Brickarms, and I love the figures you used to model them! That three-eyed alien is particularly amazing. Thank you also for using ToyWiz for the prices (I work there, so I'm partial)! We are also an authorized Brickarms reseller through both ToyWiz and Brickarsenal.com - I mention the latter because there we're able to offer an affordable shipping option to Europe to help with those prices a bit ($4.50). Anyway, you did get an incredible array of rare weaponry, and this review is excellent - both great pictures and well-considered remarks. It's great to see this many prototypes being thoroughly reviewed. It helps! Quote
Praiter Yed Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Thanks for this factual and well presented review Darth Yogi It's nice that you added some links to reference material, I was struggling to identify some of these customs in particular the Z5E Pod Gun from The Fifth Element ( should have known that one) and the Coreburner from Escape from LA. Until reading this I actually thought the Bloop Gun Grenade Launcher was a shotgun - I suppose it could be used that way. Aside from the Star Wars customs which I'm particularly fond of, I really the Flame Gun which makes me want to make a custom Logan 5 minifig. Quote
