brickie Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 The winter village sets are too lovely to be left on their own so I have attempted a winter village scene. Now I know I am going to be shot down in flames from the Europeans who experience this scene each year at Christmas, but my defence is that I live in a different part of the world and things are a bit different Down Under. Whilst Northern people are hoping for a white Christmas, down here we are feeling nature's fury over a large continent; cyclones in the north, hail storms in the south and bush fires in the west. But I have tried to represent a northern European scene. From above One of a few MOCs on this display is the church. It is essential to the core of a village. My grandkids and I have had a lot of fun building this. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 AWESOME work 'brickie', you and your grandkids did a great job.....the church is beautiful ! Merry Christmas to you and your family too ! Quote
JackJonespaw Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Good MOC, Brickie! I love the snow covered trees, and the way you combined sets that usually have nothing to do with each other into a nice scene! I wish my part of the world could have snow once in a while! Merry Christmas Quote
Vindicare Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Nice use of the Lego Universe here. I see a lot of different themes. Nice use of the raised baseplates, for a hillside, I assume. Quote
brickie Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 Merry Christmas to you and your family too ! Thanks lightningtiger. I hope that you had a wonderful time and that Santa left lots of lego in your stocking. Quote
brickie Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 Nice use of the raised baseplates, for a hillside, I assume. Yes that's correct. They are a great way of getting up 5 bricks high without using a million bricks. They also provide a 'valley' at the rear of the display to partially hide the train as it goes down hill at the back. TheLegoDr Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Nice little village there. Looks very festive for sure. I like the use of the different themes within one to get that feeling. And smart use of the raised baseplates. Quote
brickie Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Thanks for the kind comments. The sad thing is that next week I will have to pack it away and rebuild it into a medieval scene. I can envisage 2 castles in the rear corners for the King and the falcon prince. Exciting times ahead. Quote
