ZoomZoom Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Hi everybody!! Today I gonna review on of the best Star Wars 2012 sets - 9494 The box I really like this new design of the box, with new Darth Mall face. It's better than old Darth Vader Contents 4 bags, instruction and stickers Each bag is only half full, so Lego probably might do only to bags Instruction Nice & new design Bag №1 For some people who loves to built minifigs and some small stuff this bag is the best. But I want a starfighter! That's what we get from the first bag. Nute Gunray and other droids are somewhere near :) Some interesting pieces Lava, pink color, trans-clea parts!! This is awesome! Spare parts Bag №2 Don't know why, but lego devided starfighter in to three(!) bags More interesting parts Not as much as in first one but still preaty good Spare Bag №3 One more wing and I will be able to fly on mine starfighter! Useful/interesting pieces Spare Bag 4. Last wing....nothing really interesting There is one part that I consudered as "interesting". It's only in bag №4 Spare are the same Final model Ta da! Full set is ready! I reccomend this set to all of you. As I already said this is one of my favorite sets The Starfighter R2-D2's place:) The battle Minifigs R2-D2 & Security Battle Droid Original Lego Nute Gunray New minifig, has one problem. As you can see on the first picture, torso and legs didn't match at all:( Main minifigures! Obi Wan Kenobi Oroginal version Lego version This minifg is more than "good".....it's very, very good! Beautiful torso, head and hair are really awesome!) (This photo is like 3D ) Nee! New! Head Anakin Skywalker Original The best minifig in SW 2012 for me. (Arc trooper is second) Head New legs Last pics Waiting for comments!! Edited January 13, 2012 by KielDaMan Indexed Quote
the-bricking-builder Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Really good review! Are you planning to do a review of the 9495 Y-wing too? Quote
surrideo Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Nice review. A set I don't think I'll pick up but certainly a review that is making me think twice. Need to watch the prequels again as when was Gunray sand greeny in colour?. I've never had the problem when the "skirt/dress" legs dont match up with the torso but I'm sure it'll happen soon. Thanks for the review, the minifigs may yet convince me to get this set. Edited January 4, 2012 by surrideo Quote
mordatre Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I really like this new design of the box, with new Darth Mall face. It's better than old Darth Vader He wears that face when shopping. sorry Thanks for the review. Great set but in Sweden this is equal to $70 . Will however get it anyway. Wish the securitydroid had printing though. Quote
LEGOman273 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Does the security droid really not have printing, or is it a mistake? Edit: I just checked the pic; it does not. Why?!?! Edited January 4, 2012 by Legoman273 Quote

Brickdoctor Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Thanks for this review. The updated minifigs look pretty good, but I'm going to pass on this set. It's a great looking set; it just doesn't have much for an OT fan such as myself. Have printing where? The updated Pilot Battle Droids have tan printing on their torsos. Quote
LEGOman273 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Have printing where? Thank you guyz the-bricking-builder, I think so Edit: Brickdocter beat me to it. This is what I am talking about. This is from last year's Naboo Starfighter, so there is no reason TLG could not do the same here. Edited January 4, 2012 by Legoman273 Quote
Rune Haako Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Nice review. I still don't like that Lego didn't give ROTS Gunray the correct hat. Edited January 4, 2012 by Rune Haako Quote
ZoomZoom Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Tan print on the dark red body. Like This. This is from last year's Naboo Starfighter, so there is no reason TLG could not do the same here. Oh, I get it. Yeah I don't know why but they didn't( Thanks for comments! Quote
JackJonespaw Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Very nice review! I can't wait until I get this set. I'm guessing Nute Gunray doesn't have a reversable face? Quote

lightningtiger Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Thanks 'ZoomZoom' for the review of this very COOL set, this is the main set my son wants this year....though I haven't told him about the arrest set yet In my opinion one of the best Star Wars fighter craft released, just the right amount of detailing and the astromech goes in whole ! The battle scene....fantastic and you can pose and position the figures/platforms differently as the battle rages.....that's why my son wants it ! The Jedi's....one fallen and the other not are great, especial the newly crowned Vader....oh, those eyes - he looks a bit upset eh ? Oh, and poor Gunray - top and bottom not matching....doesn't matter he dies anyway ! You didn't rate the figures, build or price 'ZoomZoom' ? Anyway, thanks again for the review 'ZoomZoom'....Brick On Review On ! Quote

Huntleyfx Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Nice review. I think I will pass on this though, as an army builder, I think that my funds might be better spent Thanks for the food for thought though. Quote
Fives Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) This is by far the best set of this wave! The ship is way better then the old version, and the inclusion of the platform and the droid thing. The minifigs are really what make this set great, though. The droids are not that big a deal, but Vader, Kenobi and Gunray are superb! Gunray is a way better fig that the CW one. Obi-Wan is just plain epic. The face is perfect, and the double sided face is just icing on the cake. But Vader! Wow! The Sith face looks a bit creepy, but it works great, and the angry side looks awesome. The printing detail is the best that has been done for any Jedi yet! Anyway, I have noting but great things to say about this set! Thanks for the review! Edited January 4, 2012 by Fives Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) The new minifigures are divine. Thanks for the review! Question: Do we know where this is exclusive to yet? Edited January 4, 2012 by Parrothead Rasmus Quote
ZoomZoom Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Thanks everybody! Next review gonna be either 1720 or something else Quote
Brickadeer Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 The new minifigures are divine. Thanks for the review! Question: Do we know where this is exclusive to yet? Afaik you can get it via lego.com It's listed on amazon.de as well. Quote
Sir_Basil_Ashton Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Don't hate me but this is also the one set that I'm absolutely looking forward to. It's a combination of the minfigs and the Jedi Starfighter that do it for me. They're both just vast improvements to and superior to the previous releases. I really can't wait until I see this set in person. I may break down and actually pay full retail for this one. I've gotta be strong, I've gotta be strong. Quote
ZoomZoom Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Afaik you can get it via lego.com It's listed on amazon.de as well. I actually bought it in Lego shop. Not online, real one) Quote
Brickmamba Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 thx for the review, figs are rehashes and never been a fan of the 'solid' robe that has been used on nute and despite some interesting bits like the cockpit and the trans pieces will not be picking this up, need to save $ for other SW, DC and LotR sets Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Great review, thanks! This is a fantastic set, one of the best in this wave IMO. I would gladly pay full retail for this one, but will most likely wait for a sale. Quote
Vindicare Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Nice review for a nice set. Not cool seeing Gunray... That seems to be an ongoing problem with them. Hopefully they'll get it sorted out soon and the next batch will be fixed. This is on my list for sure. Quote
Iceman792 Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I love how descriptive this review was, the comparisons and reference photos really show the intricacies of the set. Quote
