Hobbestimus Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Just wanted to share a couple of simple MOCs I made for the DC sets. The first is a Batpod, which is a mod of the Batcycle that comes with the Funhouse Escape: And the second is a Green Lantern Power Battery. Here it is in action: And, because I was asked, a quick step-by-step on how to make your own : I'm kinda new to coming back to Lego, so I welcome comments and critiques. Thanks for looking. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I love the lantern. Simple but instantly recognizable. I may have to make one if I can ever get a Green Lantern minifig. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Excellent modified Bat-cycle and fantastic Green Lantern accessory 'Hobbestimus', the latter is simple yet it screams Green Lantern all over it. Bat-brick On 'Hobbestimus' ! Quote
JackJonespaw Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Ah, so that's how you make the lantern. Very nice! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I really like the modified batpod. I changed mine a little too so he'd be laying down like that, only yours is more impressive with the weaponry on the sides. I should consider that. I've never been into Green Lantern, but that is very clever on how you made the lantern. Keep up the good work! Quote
BrathAttack Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Both are fantastic, but I'm really loving that batpod! Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Nice MODing! I really like the Batpod. I think that the Batcycle from Funhouse Escape is the weakest vehicle in the theme (Yes, even weaker than the much despised Bat-Wing). Quote
Hobbestimus Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Bumping this for some more simple MOCs. I think most of us were unhappy with the motorcycle Captain America came with. So I gave Cap Wolverine's bike. But what to do with that red motorcycle? Ship it to Gotham City: Quote
JackJonespaw Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Nice idea of using Cap's bike for Robin! If you could add some green studs or something on it, it might look a bit better. Quote
Hobbestimus Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Nice idea of using Cap's bike for Robin! If you could add some green studs or something on it, it might look a bit better. Thanks. My lighting isn't great in these pics, but the cheese wedges on the side mirrors are dark green. Since the red of the motorcycle is a little darker than Robin's actual red, I thought I'd make the green darker as well. If the greens and yellows on the bike matched Robin completely, then the red just looked wrong. So that's the IRL reason for the colors, but the geeky story justification is that the dark colors would retain Robin's color scheme, but not stand out like a sore thumb while riding around at night. Robin can pull his black cape tight around him while riding and not be a total target for the bad guys, I guess. Quote
friedchikenfairy Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Pure genius. That Lantern is amazing. I love how all of these MOCs are simple, but effective. In a good way, of course Quote
Obsidious Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Excellent! The lantern is just great! Nice job Hobbestimus! Quote
Hobbestimus Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Another Bump for a small mod. I got the Batman/Two Face set yesterday. Loved 80% of the official Batmobile, but went in and made some changes, mostly to the rear section. I thought the "fins" it came with were a tad over the top and I wanted to eliminate the flick fire gimmick. Quote
The-Hulk Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I love your bat mobile! it's amazing how a few changes can make a huge difference. Quote
305Bats Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I modified mine too, kept the fins but removed the missle attachment and added a turbine in its place,I've made some changes to the Batcave too, removed the alert systems and missles, who in their right mind would shoot missles inside a cave? Don't have a camera though Quote
Hobbestimus Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 who in their right mind would shoot missles inside a cave? LOL Quote
Sam892 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I modified mine too, kept the fins but removed the missle attachment and added a turbine in its place,I've made some changes to the Batcave too, removed the alert systems and missles, who in their right mind would shoot missles inside a cave? Don't have a camera though I did the same removed those silly things as soon as it was built. I also didn't bother putting the stickers on the holding cell as I think it would look weird with any other villian ( than Ivy) with those vines and the Ivy stat sticker on. Quote
fierceharbor Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Good mod of the batmobile - looks like in Burton's films) Oh, and i love your lantern - simply the best) Quote
Faefrost Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 The Guy Gardner fig is brilliant! And that red bike is dead on perfect for Robin's most common ride in the early 2000's. Well done! Quote
HawkLord Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Gardner and the lantern are brilliant. I'd like to see some other lantern colors, as well. Quote
Ferrik Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 All of these accesories look great and have such a likeness for their actual counterparts. Well done. Quote
