Ilgadren of Gel Cidra has taken it upon herself to create a Grand History of Avalonia. This history will encompass the past and present times. Please feel free to post pieces of history here, and I will add them to the first page. Please be sure to make sure your history fits with the timeline that is already in place.

The Grand History of Avalonia

Avalonia has always been a sacred place. From its very beginnings it was home to a powerful race of Druids who settled there. Attracted by its beauty and mystique they lived in harmony with the land for many centuries and used their skills to protect the land, which flourished under their rule. As time moved on, their numbers started to decline and the last few remaining took it upon themselves to create one final enchantment. They gave all their power and their lives in one final spell, a treasure, that if found, would bring peace and protection to the land for all eternity. They hid the treasure in their sacred shine, and with their final task now complete, they vanished into dust, although many of their shrines and temples can be seen throughout the land. Days turned to months, months turned to years and years turned to centuries. During that time the land became inhabited by all sorts of mysterious life and became a very dangerous place. One group who settled there were a tribe of Elves who made their home in the forest. The Elves were drawn to the land's sacred power and vowed to watch over the land until the day came when a suitable ruler could be found. One who's people could bring peace and prosperity back to the land. And so they waited...

1450 years ago:

Avalonia is a land of primitive tribes and isolated villages of farmers. Kaliphin is able to conquer the mainland with little resistance. The Enchanted Forest and Mystic Isles are of little concern, for the mainland is prize - the agricultural bread basket of Historica

1300 years ago:

Kaliphin’s dominion over Avalonia wanes, and with it the interim peace that accompanied it. Without Kaliphin’s protection, the mainland farmers become an easy target for marauders, brigands and warlords. So begins the darkest period in Avalonia’s history.

Orthus become the leader of the group and they begin to protect and support adventures journeying into the Enchanted Forest. Hamlet of Circardia is founded.

36 years ago:

Orthus passes his title, rule of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard to Arlindus. Lord Arlindus is known as fair and just leader, Orthus maintains role as ambassador with local Elvish Clans.

2 years ago:

Avalonia is at its darkest hour, when a group of men mounted on huge war horses, thunders into Avalonia. They are led by Artorious Rex, a great warrior despite his mere 25 years. As they ride into battle, the sound of their charging horses echo's that of the beating wings of a mighty dragon. Hence they call themselves 'The Flight Of Dragons'. Within a year, Artorious will have secured peace and stability in this once chaotic land. The Guild of Avalonia has been founded.

1 year ago:

Artorious Rex has secured peace with Kaliphin, Mitgardia and even Nocturnus. Trade flourishes and Avalonia prospers.

Here is some of the history I have created for Circardia from the thread.

Summary

Lord Arlindus father, Orthus, fled his homeland decades ago after trouble with the law. Orthus, a great woodsman and skill warrior, and his group of companions, settled in eastern part of the Enchanted Forest. The group quickly banded together for protection against outlaw bands and ill creatures of the Forest. Overtime the group grew, began families and other wayward souls settled in the area. Before long, a village of sprang up along the banks of the mighty Isca River. Circardia became the center of trade between many of the Elven clans, Humans and other races in the eastern part of the Enchanted Forest, as well as a safe haven for travelers and starting point for many looking for adventures in the ancient Forest.

Orthus believed in a fresh start for those looking for one. With this in mind, the Phoenix Guard was born. When one joins the Phoenix Guard, their past is forgot and they assume a new name. Many of the sons and daughters of the initial settlers are now members of the Guard as well. After finishing the initial training, and individual wishing to graduate the Phoenix Guard must survive an arduous initiation and loyalty test including surviving 30 days in the wilds of the Enchanted Forest with only the clothes on their back and a dagger. Once complete, loyalty to the Guard and Circardia is unwavering.

The Phoenix Guard learned many skills from the Elven clans over the years and is known for its wood-lore, tracking, as well as archery and swordsmanship. Arlindus' father retired and passed command of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard to his son years ago. Orthus now acts as a ambassador between Circardia and elven clans as Arlindus protects the lands around Circardia.

I made a Historica History in the sign up thread some time ago.

In here I had to be aware of 2 things:

- Avalonia is the youngest guild, only 2 years old (First post of Avalonia)

- The 4 guilds have already celebrated recently 100 years without wars...

So I made the Guild Avalonia 102 years old to combine those 2 contradictions.

And to help you with your history (really nice idea btw! ):

The history seen through Geschi Edi Nissi (Historyprofessor of Mpya Stedor) :

More than 6000 years ago:

- The powerful race of the Druids lived in the regions of nowadays Avalonia. They are the first signs of life in this continent. Only remainings of their temples and shrines can be found with drawings of their rituals.

4000 years ago:

- The last of the Druids died. The Spell Of Peace And Protection is cast and buried in a mysterious shrine, still not found.

3500 years ago:

- Being banned from the surfaces of other continents, the Drow starts construction of it's first mayor city inside the Rakath Mountains. Living under the surface for the next 1200 years.

- All kinds of mysterious creatures are living on the surface of the continent.

3400 years ago:

- Elves arriving at the continent in their crusade against the Drow, starting a tribe in the forrests.

3000 years ago:

- Some traders from another continent arrives at the Great Southern Grasslands (nowadays Kaliphlin). They are nomads so they come and go. Only a few of them stays here to start a new nomad life.

2700 years ago:

- Elves finally found a Drow city. Start of many Elves-Drows wars in our continent.

2500 years ago:

- A few nomads decides to construct a city somewhere in the Great Southern Grasslands. They call it Kaligem and call themselves Kaliphlins.

2300 years ago:

- After 400 years of war, the resources of the Drow starts to being empty. The current Drow-lord starts with conquering nowadays Nocturnus. At this moment a green area with many vegetation.

2000 years ago:

- The first known civilization in Mitgardia with men fighting the dragons, fighting hopelessly out powered by the dragon, but managing to push most dragons out of our realm.

- The city of Kaligem is getting more and more fame across the globe as wealth rained for the residents of the city and the Kaliphlins decided to make a second wall, defended by golden towers.

- Nocturnus is getting darker and darker as the Drow together with the Dragons are adapting the region to their needs.

- Drow starts with conquering rest of Historica

1900 years ago:

- Drows conquered the last big Elves city. The surviving Elves lived as outlaws in the forrests, hiding for Drow-patrols.

1800 years ago:

- the Legendary Warrior who defeated the drow as the attempted to take Mitgardia as their own home, but he shall defeat them using the power of the ancients, a power none today still possess, the Language of Supernal Beings, like the Dragons. He was given the title of Jarl, and is leader of the Northern Lands of Mitgardia.

- Failed siege of Kaligem by the Drows. The Kaliphlins constructs the major temple for Bonash, their deity to thank him for their victory.

- The Drow are banned to their cities under the Rakath Mountains again. Drow Raids in every part of Historica starts.

1500 years ago:

- the great decline of Mitgardia, a period of time when civilization became scarce as the Jarl at the time was corrupt and cared not for his people.

- Santani Bela'Sti Fi'Ru of the House of Santani is the new Lord of Kaliphlin. He starts spreading the wealth of Kaligem throughout the continent and starts conquering Historica.

1400 years ago:

- Kaliphlin conquered almost all of nowadays Historica. Cedrica is founded to make a more central capital.

1350 years ago:

- Kaliphlin starts the siege of the last holdout not yet conquered, the Darkland Bastion Everlast in the East, leader of the army is Santani b'Rack Ji'Fall. His son Santani Ar'Mani Ji'Teel decided to transport the wealth of Kaligem to Cedrica.

1345 years ago:

- Everlast falled as the enemy disappeared. Kaliphlin controls now all of Historica.

- the God Bonash and the God Ashroth starts the siege of Kaligem as revenge for all the wealth deported to Cedrica. The residents started offering all their wealth at once and even people to please Bonash again.

- Bonash and Ashroths starts fighting eachother. Ashroth has been killed and Bonash heavily injured and one of their magic waves casted a hugh standstorm allover Kaligem, making Kaligem disappear from the map. The Great Southern Grasslands are transformed into a hot desert.

1300 years ago:

- Due the fall of Kaligem, Kaliphlin was not able anymore to control Historica, new factions arrised and they started fighting eachother. Thousand years of war started.

200 years ago:

- the rise of the New Mitgardian Dynasty, a period of time where a very popular and kind family took the Jarl's throne, and still rules today.

120 years ago:

- The Avalonia guild conquered the Western region of the continent. The tribe of Elves pledged their alliance to the house of Rex.

102 years ago:

- The western region of the continent was finally reunited under one flag: the flag of Avalonia.

100 years ago:

-Origins of Historica

The bard’s song tells a tale of a world long forgotten,

Race against race, clan against clan, shields clashed with swords; long ago when Men of the Lion fought Men of the Falcon, and human armies succumbed to Orcs and undead. Each group clashed with its neighbor for power, unleashing upon the world a great scourge, and the arcane land was thrown into chaos. When it all seemed but lost, a council of wise men and sages was summoned. From all the lands they came to convene in the old world’s great city; the fortress of Cedrica.

To settle the grievance and end a millennium of bloodshed, the sages declined all the treaties of old and joined all the clans into one mighty Kingdom; Historica. They founded the Four Great Regions- each one a realm in itself; - Mitgardia in the North, Nocturnus in the East, Kaliphlin in the South and Avalonia in the West, so that trade routes would spring up and clans would meet in the markets and not in the theatre of war. The wise men chose a family of great honor, to uphold the truce and to keep the four guilds from dispute, and descendants of that mighty kin to this day rule the Central lands of Historica. So goes the legend. For ten decades the races of old have migrated and spread through the world, following the trade routes, establishing cultures and prospering towns.

Today

- it is a world of wonder and natural beauty; a realm where a man and a woman may find peace. But peace is short lived…

Treacherous assassins have tried to murder the King! The capital is in shock and there will be repercussions; the Four Regions assemble their forces as the balance of power shifts, and blame is passed around. For the first time in a century, the guilds of Historica build up old defenses and prepare for the inevitable confrontation; everything hangs in the balance, and Historica is on the verge of chaos once more…

Guildsmen; this is the world you inhabit, this is the place where you will make your fortune, build a mighty empire and battle for the glory and honor of the banner…

Great idea.

I might offer to mod the Kaliphlin equivalent if DaMaximus isn't already doing so.

One of the many free builds I plan on doing for Historica is great historic battles where I depict battles between forces of old, and then probably render a few of the pictures as paintings or tapestries. If I do any that happens on land in present day Avalonia, I will make sure to post it.

I have rewritten the Avalonian history to match the Historica history, and the Guild will indeed be only 2 years old. Please let me know if there are any conflicts, and PLEASE let me know what to add for your characters. I would like to only add 3 or 4 timeline points per person, and I may end up editing so everything flows together, but I would like input please. I have created a few names and references highlighted in purple, so please let me know if you don't like this, or would like to change a name, etc.

Long Live Avalonia!

DaMaximus - thanks for posting the Historica history here, it made it much easier to edit.

The changes don't really effect what I made up for Circardia for the most part. I did edit my timeline and dropped the event where Orthus given the title of Lord and changed it to Captain. I also added Lord Arlindus led his Phoenix Guard to assist Atorious Rex and given title of Lord Arlindus of Circardia for his loyalty and bravery in the battle for Avalonia.

good job Rougeang (and of Course DaMaximus for the original history guide lines)

Well, you just destroyed my history so I gotta take apart my WIP MOCS. History of Panik soon.

Derfel wants the 2 year old guild, not 102 year old guild. You had to know that completely changing the history of the guild might not fly. I added in Kevean as the warlord that Artorious defeated, but I can change the name to something else if you prefer.

I still disagree with Derfel.

ISC has made the first thread and the first story of Historica (the one we see in almost every Guildtopic) and there it literally stands: "After 100 years of peace, the Guilds are assembling their forces."

So Avalonia can't be only 2 years old...

maybe the peace between three guilds, and those boring, puny, tree-loving green-wearing avalonians sprung later, like locust after the rain :)

Or MAYBE the other guilds had to worry about Nocturnus and the Drow, so they couldn't risk sending troops into Avalonia, but thankfully Artorious came along.

It's usually the Drow's fault. We Elves blame them for most things... plagues, droughts, taxes, bad ear days, everything!

Another big fault in the Avalonia History Theory (AHT):

a) 1 year of peace exists considering Avalonia is 2 years old. No problem with this

b) Nowadays, the Guilds are rallying their troops again to prepare for dark times. (cfr. : "inevitable confrontation" in the history of Historica described by ISC)

So, according to the AHT, the peace between Avalonia and the other Guilds will be maximum 2 years before it disappears...

No disrespect, but that must be the most phoniest threaty ever....

You could say that the peace has existed between the guilds. There are islands around the continent, bordering lands that are not at peace, but it would still be considered peace between the guilds. Avalonia joined after it had become peaceful, so technically the peace wouldn't be broken...

You fear us with reason, puny elfish girls with pointy hats and green clothes

There was no history of the Drow before Matron Mother Valsharess took the throne, and brought order, power, strength and pride to the glorious Drow cities! She is our moon and stone, and our world begins and stops with her!

Drow rule supreme!

;)

and you, little surfcers elves, we know that you are behind that intrusion and small theft of that ice axe, and we will send appropriate response, really soon ;)

The Valsharess choose her own daughter to make enquiries and see justice fulfilled (and I would show you her picture now, but the batteries on my photo camera just died:) so, tomorrow ;)

Even inside Historica, there are even clans who doesn't obey one of the Guilds and are independent (the mummies at the Rakath Mountains for example). I am quite sure, and I think everybody in here is that with an inevitable confrontation, they mean war between the Guilds and that's the point I tried to show with last post :classic:

To make it more simple, I'll quote the post of ISC:

Race against race, clan against clan, shields clashed with swords; long ago when Men of the Lion fought Men of the Falcon, and human armies succumbed to Orcs and undead. Each group clashed with its neighbor for power, unleashing upon the world a great scourge, and the arcane land was thrown into chaos. Guildsmen; this is the world you inhabit, this is the place where you will make your fortune, build a mighty empire and battle for the glory and honor of the banner…

Of course nobody has to follow this, but in my opinion, it's far more better if we all stick to the same historyscheme.

Another important note: the back ground of many minifigs in historica:

Some say they lived or served Avalonia already for more than X years before they emerged, or became someting else or ... . If Avalonia is only 2 years old, then how could they be so proud of being from Avalonia?

And now on psychological base. If Avalonia joined after the 3 other Guilds signed a peacethreaty and accepted Cicardia as their sovereign (so Cicardia controls the 3), it would mean that Mitgardia, Nocturnus and Kaliphlin made peace and that there is a hugh green, vegitable land in the west of them with no rules or peacethreaties with those 3?

Considering Avalonia is 2 years old, that makes that the 3 oldern Guilds had 98 years time to build an army, what makes around 4 generations!

Well, I am pretty sure every sir in Mitgardia, Kaliphlin and Nocturnus with an army belonging to him, would have tried to conquer small parts of nowadays Avalonia to colonise. And due the peace, they would have no worries of the other Guilds attacking those colonies, only smaller tribes and clans could have done this.

I think everybody will agree with this.

So that makes next point:

Artorius Rex conquered with an army of an incredible size the lands of Avalonia. Following the logica of last point: the western lands were colonies of Mitgardia, Kaliphlin and Nocturnus. So that means there was a war Between Avalonia vs. Kaliphlin & Mitgardia & Nocturnus. Wich ended 2 years ago with Avalonia as winner and the other 3 as losers.

=> Totally fine by me, but the moment the war will start again, Avalonia will be the first one who will be attacked as the recent lost war is still fresh in mind of the other 3...

I see there is some clashing of history going on here, so I will lay out what the original idea was.

When we guild leaders set up the guilds, we each added a small back story as a setting to build on. We wrote our back stories and then posted the threads. ISC added the additional bit of history later on and some of it contradicts what we said. The reason I had Avalonia as a young guild was because it made more sense to me. I saw Avalonia as a overgrown mystical area that had lain dorment for centuries, waiting for the time when it would be settled again by a noble race. I figured that if there had been guilds there all along, then it would already be built up and established. I wanted a place that members could build from scratch, everything that members are building in Avalonia is new, we are building history. Avalonia was a overgrown wild place, avoided because it was thought to be cursed, but then finally a guild came to settle its lands and our now building a kingdom. I prefered this approach as it allows members to be involved in building their land from scratch and not in a already established land. Avalonia was the first place to be settled In Historica, the ancient druids settled here as it was the most lush, green and habitable part of Historica, but as time went on, more and more settlers arrived and colonized other areas of Historica and eventually the Druids died out and Avalonia was left to grow wild while the other lands became settled and grew powerful and prosperous. The other lands obviously visited Avalonia for resources and perhaps a few people set up home there, but it never had a proper Guild. Untill now. This approach also leaves a nice long gap for members to create their own stories about what happened during its 'wild' period. A lot of Avalonias members could have been hidden in Avalonia for quite a while, tribes that settled here in secret. Members can come up with their own stories about that. So I expect that many of Avalonia's members came to Avalonia before Artorious Rex came and set up the Guild, if thats how they want to write their story then thats fine. The main aspect is freedom, I'd like the guild to have complete freedom to be able to create and fit anywhere in Avalonia and come up with their own back stories without worrying about it clashing with anything. So whatever happened in the time between the ancient druids and when the guild was set up, is open and free for whatever people want to come up with.

The idea of this thread was that it can be used as a colection of different stories and ideas, where members from Avalonia can create and add any ideas they wish, weather it be myths, legends or history, anything they want about Avalonia. Then we can use these stories as inspiration for mocs and build them.

So we shouldn't get too worried about whats right and whats not, thats not the point. The main idea is that Avalonia members can create their own histories as they wish because there is nothing set in stone apart from the Druids at the begining. The rest is up to you guys, and thats how it should be. Creative freedom :classic:
