Flipz Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Wu talked about unlocking your True Potential needing two things: 1. Perfect physical condition (Check for all four Ninja, and possibly for Nya as well) 2. You must uncover that great inner conflict that holds you back. For Zane, that meant recovering the memories of his past. ... There's an obvious "question to my fellow fans" here, but all things considered I think I should post a separate topic instead, as it could be rather topic-derailing. For the four five Ninja of Ninjago, the answers might be guessed-- Zane had to recover his memories and the knowledge of his true nature, Jay will likely have to tell Nya he loves her, Kai will have to learn patience and reliance on his teammates, Lloyd will have to overcome some kind of daddy issues related to being Garmadon's son, and Cole...actually, Cole's a bit of a mystery to me as well. For us, however, the issue is more complex. What would unlock your personal True Potential? For me, personally, I've been asking myself variations of this question for a long time ("What is the dramatic obstacle in my Hero's Journey?", "What is the great challenge of my life?", etc.). Sometimes I feel I've come close to the truth, but I've never quite stumbled across the exact problem--or its solution. But when I do--look out! Quote
Poison Ivy Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Wow, cool idea for a topic! Mine would probably have to be learning a bit more about my biological parents (I was adopted when I was 3 or 4, I can't remember them at all, only my foster parents). Quote

Call me slow, but I don't really understand what exactly you are driving at here. What would unlock my personal true potential? How would I know, until it happens, and even after that, I'm sure something else would come up that would unlock my potential much more so... ...I still don't understand. Quote

Obviously, I'm not expecting anyone to bust out supernatural Spinjitsu powers all of a sudden (though that would be freaking epic if it were possible ). I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this sort of soul-searching. "True Potential" is the phrase I use because of how Ninjago describes it; it makes it understandable if you've watched the show. Perhaps a more generic (and thus clearer) phrasing would be: "What is the one thing in your life that holds you back?" And what steps have you taken to find out the identity of this obstacle, or to remove it? It's a sort of metaphysical thing, that defies direct description, but when you're headed in the right direction, you just...know. You may not know how far you've come, or what the ultimate goal is, but you know when you're on the right path. I apologise if none of that makes sense, like I said, these things are not easy to put into words. Quote
Palathadric Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Ah! No, I understand perfectly now. Odd, isn't it? Will have to think this one over... Quote
