Farnheim Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Layout Hello Lego-enthuasiats, I was asked by a few members, if I could present photos of my little town. Well, sure, but this is (at this time) nothing but a streetscene. And I guess nothing really spectacular. But here are a few pictures of it, and of the future plans. First I should explain the story behind my project in a few lines. The scene shows a typical streetlife of my fictional town called "Farnheim". The towns name is getting back into the mid 80s, when I enjoyed making models in 1/87 scale. Since I have retired from this hobby and restarted building with Lego I have reactivated this little microcosm and transferred it into the brick-age. The street, where it all take place is called "An der Ufertraverse". If you understand german language, you can read the whole towns history here. Here's a detail of the (fictional) citymap I've made a while back. You can find the "Ufertraverse" on the west coast on the central downtown island. Sorry for the largeness, but that pic is unfortunately 1024x768 pxl... The following pictures show what I have built so far. January 2011: March 2011: August 2011: Future plans: This part shall be append to the scenery shown above. It also shall get a historic town gate, a MOC-petshop, some other commercial buidlings, a fire or police station, a small supermarket and much more. I don't have a plan for it. It's just on my mind... So, we will, what's really going to be realized. I hope you like it. C&C are welcome as usual. Thanks for risking a view... Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Wonderful city 'Farnheim', all those classic town inspired vehicles (street sweeper ) and that TRU store is fantastic, great way to expand the original design. Keep going and Brick On 'Farnheim' ! Quote
The Blue Brick Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Man, I really love your classic town style town. The vehicles really bring back memories. I love them. The Toys R Us mod is great as LT had already mentioned. I also love that little red and black van in front of the Toys R Us. I can't wait to see your future town and its progression. Quote
romdam Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 So nice to see classic inspired town rather than the modular junk. Long live 4 wides. Quote
Capn Frank Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I really like your layout Farnheim. Thank you for sharing. You MOCs and this Layout have caused me to become more of a fan and appreciate 4-wide MOCs and sets. So nice to see classic inspired town rather than the modular junk. Long live 4 wides. This post is hardly constructive and I don't like its tone. I would be more courteous and mindful of your future posts. Quote
The Joker1 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Looks like you have a big project on your hands. I love how you have adapted the MMV into a store. And all those cars bring back old memories. Quote
Farnheim Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 Thanks everybody for the kind comments. I really appreciate it. Here comes just a glimpse of some of the cars shown in the pictures. The tourbus of a (still) unknown rockband "The incredible Studs": They played an open air gig at the local 2011 "City Heat-Festival". The street sweeper/vacuum tanker: The urban bus: The "Yellow Cab": The post delivery truck: Once again: Thank you very much! Quote
The Blue Brick Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) I love the post delivery truck. The urban bus is great too. These really bring a smile to my face. Edited April 20, 2012 by The Blue Brick Quote
Dakar A Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Wow, this is amazing! Your 4 wide vehicles are a perfect fit for a big city like this, they make the buildings look bigger! It's coming along great, it'll be interesting to see if/how you do the angled streetas and bridges! Can't wait for more! Quote
Big Cam Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 The love the amount of action this town has. Also your recent additions where it shows the vehicle first (solo) and then in action. A massive undertaking I can tell. Most impressive. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) I that band van 'Farnheim' and again that street sweeper is fantastic, so much detail on a 4 wide. You totally have the knack for these 4 wide vehicles, takes this tiger back over 30 years ago to my small classic town collection (though even then I was more into buildings than vehicles ) Oh, that bus....flip top roof - nice ! One thing I haven't noticed yet are fire trucks....have you any to show yet ? Brick On 'Farnheim' ! Edited April 20, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) Excellent layout so far! It's great to see a dedicated 4W city! And a very nice back story of Farnheim. It was nice to read. All these classic parts look brand new. I really like the "urban bus" and delivery truck. I can't wait to see the new expansion, as it occurs Edited April 21, 2012 by Lego Guy Bri Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 As already said I am a big fan of vehicles four studs wide ...and this amazing city is full of them! The vehicles are original and very well built ...should become official lego sets! Quote
ER0L Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Fantastic layout Farnheim! But what I like most are the awesome vehicles I haven't seen before, especially the band bus and that openable urban bus. Really great stuff! One thing I haven't noticed yet are fire trucks....have you any to show yet ? Didn't you know that Farnheim is known as a number one 4-wide firefighting vehicle builder? Be aware of a fleet of fire trucks - it will get quite humid here ... Quote
Farnheim Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Once again thank you guys very much. Yeah, like EROL said, I did quite a few fire fighting vehicles in the past. I'm gonna post them in a few different threads. Here is the first one, lightningtiger. Are you ready? Here we go... Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Here is the first one, lightningtiger. Are you ready? Here we go... Okay, just posted a comment there. Bring that station on ! Quote
Widdi Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Great vehicles in your town. Classic early 80s-style with the old red wheels. If I'm building some city stuff, which is due to time restrictions very rare. I'm going for late 80s- Early 90s cars. Of course in 4-wide. Now I'm mostly doing CAD-models and this extremly rare at the moment due to my outdoor hobbies. mFg Widdi Quote
