My First Wii Experience

I just got back from a Wii event today, and I must tell you, it was amazing. The controller and the system were so tiny, but as soon as I picked it up, I fell in love *wub* . As we discussed in a previous thread, there was a little delay, approx. a half of a second. But it was not noticeable, it did not affect the game what so ever.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

I started off with Zelda, great game and graphics, although I only played for about ten minutes as I was in a large line. I rode Epona, fished (that was awesome, it was very realistic). I also played in the twilight realm

with Midna and being the wolf. The controls are great, you slash with the Wiimote and shooting arrows was fun too, but my favourite part was PWNing Cuckoos in the town. I am now even more for this game. You HAVE to get it, there is no excuse necessary not to.

Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz

I then played some Monkey Ball it was a great game. I played through the whole single player demo it was quite fun. You play by twisting the controller left, right, forward, back to tilt the stage. You could also jump with A. I also found it quite hard compared to the first two. But hard is not bad ;-) .

Wii Sports

Then I went to the Wii sports section. I started off and explored the Main Wii menu. Made a Mii of myself (That was actually very fun, lots of funny facial features, ect.) then I went into Wii Sports.

Bowling

I started off with Bowling, 2-Player. It was fun, just like the real thing minus the smell of the old shoes and burning popcorn.

Tennis

Then I did some 2-Player Tennis with my friend. Wow, this was fun, we could not stop laughing. I got really into it, running to hit the ball... even though I didn't have to move :-P . It was like I was actually playing!

Golf

After this my Dad and I had a Golf match, all I can say is the Wii really is for non-gamers... aka, he smoked me X-D . The controls were really simple. You can take practice shots and see how hard you hit, and then you can hold the A button and take an actual shot. It was hard... for me at least...

Boxing

Then I played some Boxing. Wow, I worked up quite a sweat. I have never punched the air that intense before. Awesome game, although half the time you don't even know if your hitting the opponent!

Baseball

Lastly I played Baseball. It was a lot more fun then I thought. It was awesome, pitching and hitting. It was one of my favourite games I played besides Tennis.

Excite Truck

I then continued onward and played some Excite Truck. The control felt great. I loved the steering wheel control. I do not know how I can ever go back to regular racing game. I tore through a

It seems to me that they need to develop controllers for feet for us Kickboxers, then :-D

You are soo lucky! *wub*

I've been waiting for the Wii for ages! :'-)

Thanks for the reviews, I might buy Red Steel and Excite truck. ;-)

23 days left now. :'-)

Only four more days for me :-P ... I'll post tons of pictures when I get it on Saturday, yes Saturday. I have my sources ;-) .

Lost Viking, I hope you don't mind but I posted your review (and my comment) on another forum (on Martial Arts). I couldn't quote you, but I didn't pass it off as my own work.

These reviews have confirmed all my expectations, and enabled me to stop worrying about any problems! I hope you won't mind if I post your reviews on another forum, as did Captain Tau, cause I've got some points to prove :-P

Sure, feel free to post it elsewhere guys, and also feel free to ask any questions about any of the games!

And also my two favourite games were Monkey Ball (I'm a fanatic) and Excite Truck as they were both mainly pick-up-and-play games. Zelda was very fun in the twilight realm but it was hard not knowing the story to really get into it as Zelda is really a story based game, opposed to Monkey Ball and Excite Truck. Red Steel was also great but the controls did sometimes get in the way of things when you tried to turn.

Yay! Wii comes tomorow! Games I look forward to: Zelda: TP, Rapala Fishing game, and the Tennis game. I think I'm going to a Toys R' Us to get one, might check out the lego aisle while I'm there ;-) .

I USED to trust Gamespot, but lately it seems that they have been extremely harsh with reviews. I was so angry when they gave LSW II only a tenth of a point higher then the origanal, and now Red Steel, the game that everybody was so hyped up about got a 5.5! Compare that to a 9.0 review on another site, no, in fact compare the majority of their reviews to most other sites, and you can see that Gamespot is extremely picky. I seem to be agreeing with Gamespy a lot more these days.... :-|

Anyway, I am kind of dissapointed that I won't ever be getting a Wii (or at least until its old and the next Nintendo system is out). My parrents really can't afford the latest systems and computers and tech in general, and it doesn't really bother me that much actually. I never was good at video games, and the Wii would probably be really hard for me (amazingly), due to the fact that I have poor, shaky motor skills (It's a long story). Maybe when demos come out in stores I will try it (I probably will), but I really don't mind that much.

Doesn't mean I don't agree with Nintendo's dirrection, though. I am so with Nintendo this time (even more than before), and I really think that they will make a great stand against Sony and Microsoft in the demanding industry. They will rock. And, Wii will rock! X-D

I use gamespot for checking out games, but I have too noticed that they've been getting less positive in their reviews and such. Aah well.

Anyway, Yeah I'll definately be getting the Wii, but probably later more than sooner, because of prices. Does anybody know when It comes out in stores in Australia? I'm guessing soon, as they came out today (19th) everywhere else. But anyway I'll have to check them out in stores.

Also...I know this is sorta off topic (and pretty old), but does anybody own Paper Mario 2: the Thousand year door (on gamecube, not Wii, of course)? Can they tell me if its good and worth getting?

Anyway, back on topic, I don't quite fully understand the Wii channels (i think thats what theyre called). Do the Wii tennis and the other Wii sports come with the consol built-in or anything, or do you have to buy them seperately?

When I first saw the Wii and the whole remote-thing I had my doubts, but after reading so much on how easy and smooth it is, I actually think it might be alright. But I still think the good ol' controller are better (i love the gamecube controller!)

Thanks for the review and everything. Game on!

Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Got the Wii!!! It is frikkin awsome!! Also got Zelda and RedSteel! This system rocks! I also got an extra controler. Though, the system belongs to my brother, but still, it's awsome. We played Wii Sports, loads of fun, and Redsteel, it was good but har to control where you point your gun. Well I went to a Best Buy at aroun 6:00am-6:45. There were like 30-40 people there. My brothers friend(and mine if so) camped out, so they were one of the people in the front of the line. My brother went to a Best buy and me a TRU, to open our chances. Well, I sat on cold stone and, boy it was cold. I heard the TRU were getting a good amount so that opened my hopes. So it's around 8:05 and( I know that BB gives out tickets out at 8 since they open at 9) my dad and brother drove in to where I was at the TRU, only to find that my brother had the 45th and last ticket the BB guys gave out, lucky us. So we purchased and cherished. We also got an extra controler(for me) but they only had the first part, also they didn't have the classic controller which my brother wanted. So we went TRU and waited in our car for 10 minutes until they opened and then we got to the front of the line(TRU staff only let in 5-6 people into the game section to buy the Wii and such, BB had a much better way) and while we waited, I decided to go to the lego section(hehee, can't resist X-D ) and I got the 5$ Aqua raiderset(I built it and loved it) So anyway, we got the classic controler, and believe it or not, the last knunchuck controler how lucky are we? We went home and played. It was an awsome morning.

Cycolnis, all the Wii stuff you mentioned is included with the Wii for free, actually it's in the Wii and not seperate games :-) .

Meh, you make the upcoming 3 weeks impossible for me like this...

Cyclonis, Paper Mario 2 is a good game. Not as good as the original, but still pretty nifty. If you want a good Cube RPG, get Tales of Symphonia. But...Paper Mario 2 should be second on the list. Just don't expect tons of new features, it's just like the first one.

From the comments you guys are giving, Red Steel sounds pretty good. But from online reviews I've read, it seems fun for a while, but on the whole, a buggy, confusing, forgettable mess. Now I'm torn about what other launch game to get apart from Zelda. I was considering either Call of Duty 3, Far Cry or Monkey Ball. Any recommendations from those who've already got a Wii?
