Well, here it is. In my hands. The Nintendo Wii! I was thoughtfull enough to take pics of it, alot of pics. So with great pride and stuff I present you...the Nintendo Wii!

To start, we have the box here, ours is nice and pristine :-) .

p1010313.jpg

The back(I thought to myself, on the back pic, it looks like the Wii dissapears and a hand snatches the control away).

p1010312.jpg

Lots of Manuals and a WiiSports box.(This is most of the stuff of what comes in the bag of manuals, give or take something missing.

p1010333.jpg

Now to the Wii. Here is the system itself. It shines in the light!

p1010314.jpg

The side.

p1010316.jpg

The two compartments on the top, they flip open and it is kinda hard to notice them when closed, so they blend. In the compartments are 4 Gamecube plugs for the controlers and two other plugs I am unsure which what goes into it(?).

p1010317.jpg

The compartments closed.

p1010318.jpg

The back of the Wii.

p1010319.jpg

Note: The two USB plug-ins in the back of the Wii.

p1010331.jpg

All the wires plugged in.

p1010329.jpg

The discs just go in, no cartridge/slide thingy to put em' on, just stick them right in there!

p1010338.jpg

BLUE LIGHT!!!!! On the Wii. :-/ It only flashes for a second when you power on the Wii, I wish it stayed on.

p1010341.jpg

The Wii by itself and the stand by itself.

p1010315.jpg

The sensor bar for receiving the movements of the Wii controlers(On my TV it's really unnoticable, so I placed in a blue background for easy viewing :-) . Awww, it comes with a stand too! Two double-sided stickers are placed on the either the stand or the bar itself.

p1010322.jpg

The power cord(aka mini Xbox360 cord I like to call X-D ). Oh, YAY! No three stick plug( of course this just for these are the US versions as there are also different plugs throughout the world).

p1010323.jpg

The cord for audio and video.

p1010324.jpg

The Wii remote and the Knunchuck controler. Some games do/don't require the Knunchuck controler. Their are buttons on the front and back side, they are A B C + - 1 2 (Power button) and Another button I am not sure of the name of.

p1010326.jpg

The back sides.

p1010327.jpg

Plugged in. All in all, the controlers I'd say are very comfortable to use.

p1010328.jpg

For a bonus, I added the Classic controlor that plays old SNES, NES games and such.

p1010335.jpg

The Triggers.

p1010337.jpg

More bonus and more spoilor like, here is the Main menu.

p1010342.jpg

So that's it. I rate the system a 10/10. It's really cool. I apologize for some fuzzy pictures, they are required without flash because of the white.

:'-( If only I could get one....

Great review, BTW. Could you possibly do a review of Wii sports as well? I'd love to see it from a pictorial view perspective. ;-)

Whats "Mon 11/20"?

I'm guessing its the date, but its backwards, Monday the 11th (its not actually) of WHEN?

No-one answer, I'm being facetious, but this does annoy me.

Very nice review, thanks.

Nice little review there. I have one question to ask.

When you play on it, do you have to ideally be facing the motion bar and TV head on? Cause if you do, I might have to change my bedroom layout a tad.

So wii Sports comes in a crappy cardboard package? That really sucks, even the Metroid Prime Hutners: Demo for the DS was packed normally. How should I store Wii Sports when I'm not playing it then? :-/

Also, did it come with a scart cable only or was there a scart plug as well?

*y* HOORAY for Wii! Great pics you got there. Now show us some Mii-making goodness ^^

You wouldn't happen to know btw whether the WiiMote and Nunchuk come out in BLACK, would you?

One question about the "Nunchuk" controller:

We've already discussed the boxing game. Hypothetically, could a Martial Arts game that included the use of Nunchaku be created? Woudl the system be able to cope with the rapid movements involved?

My Metroid Hunters demo came in a crappy cardboard package. Then again, that might be cause I imported mine from the US...

In answer to both Captain Tau's questions ;-). In theory, yes. Especially as the movements in boxing have to be quite fast as well.

Kikuichimonji: Scart cable? I am unfamiliar what a"Scart" is. Yeah, cardboard "package". I was even surprised it was a disc! You can store Wii sports in the cardboard box. Or, you can put it in an extra disc case.

captaintau: The boxing game on Wiisports is pretty good. But the downside is that sometimes movement is a little slow, and reaction time is as well. You can also move to the side to doge hits. Now don't go hitting your friends in the face :-P .

Cutty: As far as I know, it's all white for the Wii.

JoeMI6: Ideally, face the bar at all times. Your bar has a radius of 3-8 feet. Don't put a blanket over it or else the signa; is blocked. So ideally, clear everything away and make nice comfortable positions and area to play your Wii. But, you don't necesarrily have to have it on the TV. It has a pretty big cable. But ideally you want it on top or in front of the TV, for me, I'd rather have it on top.

MSNBC was talking about the Wii and pointless PS3 riots. I like how they said it has a touch screen and voice somehting. They were giving the stats for the DS! :)

Posted

Ok.

I found out what that other button was, it is the Z button.

captaintau: The date can go like this Day Month/Day (Showing Mon is helpful because soetimes you are unsure what the 20th is?

Posted

A SCART cable is the cabble you use to connect your console/DVD player etc. to your TV. Might be a dutch term though. Picture of a SCART connector:

Scart-FBAS-SVHS-Adapter.jpg

You're supposed to plug the red, white and yellow cable in there and you can connect the SCART connector to your TV. So, do you have a connector? Or just the 3 colored plugs?

Posted

What was there shown in the review is what I got, so no Scart.

LV: I got Zelda...hurray and Redsteel. I will also be getting Rapala Fishing TOrnament game, which comes tomorow...YAY!

I know. Sorry I don't want to continue this because its off topic and detracts from an excellent review. Its just that dates in this style annoy the hell out of me. Maybe I'm a bit sad or excessively pedantic.

It SHOULD be [date/month/year] because that way you increment in smaller units (days) up to larger units (years), so you get the twenty first day of the eleventh month of the two-thousand-and-sixth year. [month/date/year] is just plain stupid because you can't get the 11th month of the twenty-first day.

My problem with the Wii is the display. The Wii doesn't do above 480p and our HDTV supports up to 1080i so 480p looks very blurry and pixelated :-(

Other then that it's an awesome looking console, but I'll stick with my Xbox360

*goes back to gears of war* X-D

Posted

That's my problem with the other consoles. To fully appreciate them, you have to get an HD TV. But I am envious of Halo 3 ;-). Thanks very much for the info IS, now I know what to do in preparation...

Posted

Yeay, tks to you my wait till December 8th is getting HORRIBLE :-D :-P

Great looking beast !! I am not too fond of white but I won't complain :-D Will look weird on a silver TV and next to a silver DVD player :-P So I can keep the Cube and PS2 in my room looooool

Its weird how the "normal" controler looks kind of retro hehe !!

My only question is actually this one: when I preordered it, the seller told me that Nintendo deliberatly witheld news until its coming out date so what is that surprise ??

Can't wait to see some vidrocial *y*

Wii On !!

*yoda*

You are welcomed. The Wii is GC compatible, you can put the disc in there and the controllers on top, I was rather surprised about that. Though, this is good for me, becuase I had a gamecube before, couple years back, and I enjoyed it, only it to be used by my older brother and turn it intoo a portable, the fact that I hate is that he lied about taking it >:-( . Nonetheless, I can play all the Gamecube games wii have and enjoy. Though, I have to admit, his GC portable is pretty cool, though, it is under construction, but he is waaaayyy to busy these days, ah well.

Ooook, I didn't get that vidocrial yesterday, I'll have to try to get it before the weekend or something.

Sweet !! Tks for this great news !! I won't have to buy another Wii controler then hehehehe !! And I still can play Cube games yeay !!!

Another question: are the games zoned ?? Meaning if I buy a game in the US, will it work in France ??

The rumour was that it was NOT zoned (like the cartridges of the Sega at the time when I was a kid on those old 8 bits 8-

Posted

Sorry, I am unaware if it is zoned or not :-( . Oh yeah, if you log in somewhere, and when you do stuff ( I think) you earn points, and after you earn lots of points, you can buy games and stuff on The WiiInternet shop.

We should do alot of Wifi stuff if it can do overseas?
