The Joker1 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hi everyone. I know this entry is pretty quick but i assure you i have been working non stop for about 3 hours (mainly part finding) The captain Thomas rodger was the son of one of the wealthiest business men in gotham history, His father ran all inport and export from the docks. Though little did he expect but on the night of may 15 1995 he was kidnappped by the worst group of criminals in gotham the black pythons. The black pythons were in charge of all crime this side of the city everything from smuggleing to BLACKMAIL. They had kidnapped young thomas in order to get his father to pay for his return. Unfortunately for them his father had other ideas and had lead a eleite police squad to rescue thomas. When the pythons heard the police they made haste for the windows fireing randomly as they ran. As fate would have it one of the bullets richoched on a doorhandle and shot Thomases father dead. Another shot through thomases nose and into his eye. Now under the name "the captain" he will sail the docks of gotham In the fang (his boat) bringing vilans of the sea to justice once and for all... The captain is not one for modern fancy weapons but likes to ues either his bare hands or his trusty swords. 12 035 by Joker 789, on Flickr 12 033 by Joker 789, on Flickr 12 002 by Joker 789, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/75867417@N08/7210471442/in/photostream/ 12 001 by Joker 789, on Flickr Here are a couple more veiws of the Captain. Cost to make This figure is actually very cheap and simple so anyone can try making one. (based on cheapest bricklink prices not including p&p) Dastan hair-£0.25 Ghazab head £0.25 troll cape £1.88 (seems like a lot for a peice of cloth? ) Jack sparrow body-£0.70 dark tan legs-£0.20 compass-£0.02 sword holderx2-£0.60 cutlassx2-£0.04 so to make tha captain you would only need to spend £3.94 http://www.flickr.com/photos/75867417@N08/7205599882/in/photostream/ Interior veiw. I hope you enjoy it everyone I would love to hear what you think. Quote
purpleparadox Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Nice! Is that a decal on his face, or an official head? If it's a decal or paint, it's awesomely done and applied. I believe you need a few more things to enter the contest though. A cost estimate, and pictures of the side and back of the minifig. Good job, and good luck! Quote
LuxorV Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Actually, the Exif data on your pictures say they have been taken on the 28th of Jenuary 2011, and uploaded yesterday. Now, even if this makes the pics new to the community, it does not mean the vig and character have been created with this contest in mind. I'd like to hear The Penguin's opinion on this, but I think you should consider making a proper entry, rather than recycling a previous creation. Quote

LuxorV Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 But I only biult this last night? I think the date on my camera must be wrong. After consulting with The Penguin and checking few additional details, like used parts release dates, we have come to an agreement to accept your entry. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but lacking better evidence, we have to resort to the Exif data. Please check your camera's date/time are correct next time. Please keep in mind it is still not up to the rules requirements (more views of the custom figure, complete backstory [as it is, nothing tells us why/how he is a villain], estimated cost, etc...). Fulfill all those aspects (you've plenty of time) to qualify. Quote
The Joker1 Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 Thank for everything LuxorV I really appreciate it . He is not meant to be a villian he is the hero of the docks who wants to stop crime in gotham docks.I did not type that it is a catagory 1 entery it is maent to be catagory 2 My fat fingres must have hit the wrong key. As for the other things I will get right onto setting the date and getting more photos of the captain. Then i will search bricklink and post a cost estimate. . Quote
The Penguin Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 Please do. I find the concept most interesting and would'vew been very pleased to see the vig from all sides. Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Thanks Penguin I have fixed my camera and added a couple more pics of the captain. The vignette in not really very interesting from the other angles. I was focused mainly on the cabian and the room with the globe. The other walls are pretty mutch plain.(with the possible exception of the arch going into the globe room) Quote
LuxorV Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 The entry is in line with the rules, but you may want to check the backstory (spelling, capitalisation and punctuation) and take better pictures: for example, as it is, the entry fig is almost invisible in the vig; keep in mind the vig shot will be used for the voting phase.
