Liquid Fright

This is Liquid Fright, the villain I made for the Batman Customisation Contest!

Liquid Fright's backstory/origin:

Real Name: Adam J. Archer

Back-story:

The young Adam Archer lived a somewhat solitary life because his father had died in a fire and only had his mother to raise him. He had very few friends and had two older sisters who absolutely hated him. He was always a troublemaker and enjoyed playing pranks on his two older sisters.

Adam had an unusual gift that he thought was perfectly normal; he thought all humans had this ability as well. Adam learned at very young age that he could telepathically read the stress stimuli and the chemicals in a person’s brain that cause fear. He could then determine what the person was most afraid of and then use this source of knowledge against them, as in the case of scaring his sisters (he learned that they were both deathly afraid of snakes and so he hid rubber snakes all over their rooms).

However, his single mother got fed up with Adam and his mischief and sent him to a far-off boarding school, never to see his family again. It was here where he began tinkering with machines and gadgets. When he was 23 years old, he created his first invention, which he called the Iron Claw. Its purpose was to help firefighters during severe fires and they could use the claw to easily slice through any obstacle in their way (Adam had designed the claw to slice through even solid steel) and it would make navigating a burning building much easier and much safer.

Adam decided to test his invention during a huge fire at a nuclear generator. Thousands of gallons of oil had been spilled and had been set ablaze in the towering inferno. The firefighters were having difficulties rescuing the trapped civilians and Adam saw this as a perfect opportunity to become a hero.

He used his special ability to sense the civilians’ fear and was able to locate them amidst the mass of burning metal and the orange flames. Most of them were trapped in the main reactor room, which still had hundreds of dangerous, unburned oil.

Just as Adam was about to rescue the civilians, the atom-combining reactor exploded and somehow fused the atoms in Adam’s body with the billions of oil molecules, thus making Adam half man and half liquid. The civilians were killed in the explosion and Adam truly believed that their death was his fault. Adam realized that he had not become the hero he had hoped to be; therefore, he proclaimed himself a monster, a murderer, and a villain.

Now Adam uses his fear-sensing power for evil and now goes by the alias “Liquid Fright.” He can discover his opponent’s worst fear by looking deep within their mind and then mold his liquid-like body into the person’s worst fear. While his opponent is in a state of mortal fear, Liquid Fright lashes out with his iron claw. He is a very powerful foe who is almost invincible due to his liquid body. He can recover from most attacks and can alter his shape to fit through small cracks and openings. His only known weakness is fire.
