Kayne Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 (edited) Saladus Al-juhtiv and Aran-Salath journey to Western Reaches of the desert and into the Withered Woods. Home to Aran-Salath and all of the Kaliphlin Elves. Lord Dextruss Flagg has sent them to find all the help they can muster to face the oncoming threat of Viktor Revolword. Aran's brother Kha is a Moon Lord of the Elves, and his help will be needed in the coming struggle. Saladus, Aran-Salath and Kha will be headed to the port town of Starbowl to prepare the town and ready its defenses.... The lanterns that SoT had in his elven build in the forest were perfect, so I stylized these completely after his! Yes, this is a prequel to my Challenge 4 build. I am introducing a new character, Kha the Moon Lord. And our destination is Starbowl, a port city on the Western edges of the desert near the Withered Woods. Edited June 24, 2012 by Kayne Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 The landscaping is good and the round tower angled wall sections are excellent Great work on the fig posing too Quote
turtleman2020 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 The river is great along with the house, tree and just about everything. I can't wait to see your challenge 4 build. Quote
Legonardo Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Great work, the dark tan works well! ~Legonardo~ Quote

robuko Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) Lovely build Kayne, this is exactly how I imagine the Withered Woods. I really like the variety of trees you have placed here. The strong LoTR vibe tells me you had a very good Father's Day! Lovely technique on the round tower and the river especially, although the river is maybe a bit too regular? Looking forward to learning more about the Moon Lord - of which moon? Great stuff Edited June 26, 2012 by robuko Quote
Kayne Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) Thanks for words guys....I agree after the photgraphy that the river needed more curves. Oh well, next time it'll have to be better. As for the Moon Lord, I am still working out a bit of the backstory, but I see the Kaliphlin Elves to have harnessed the power of the Sun(Desert Folk seem to respect the power of the Sun )So, as part of their heirarchy they have Star Lords, Moon Lords and finally one Sun Lord. As for the LOTR, yeah between the Helm's Deep that I bought in May and then the sets my wife bought me, I now have Uruk-Hai, Shelob's Lair and Gandalf arrives as well. I think Orc Forge is next....But the piece selection and the figs in those sets are fantastic! Edited June 26, 2012 by Kayne Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Trans dark blue rivers! I love those! Not only the river but also the riverbank, the tower and the roof from the house is very well executed! Quote
BrickPicker Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Nice use of translucent blue bricks in the river. Well done. Quote
Mike S Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Nice job! I really like the colors- ground, water, foilage, etc. Nice to see more characters as well. Quote
Gabe Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Nice little build Kayne! I do like your grey "Withers wood" tree, i'd like to see a whole forest of those. The little fortress with it's round tower is also very nice, and it's good to see the new horse making an appearence! I do worry about the elves getting wet feet though - they look like they are on a bit of a flood plain there. Quote
