Legonardo Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 well that's one wide question. so what is it exactly that you want help with? Quote
TheDarkness Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 And what scale are you trying to make it? Quote
Jimbobulus Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Will you be using additional bricks other than the sets you have mentioned? Quote
Duke of wellington Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 well that's one wide question. so what is it exactly that you want help with? Basically how should I portray it. I hope to display this at an upcoming convention. And what scale are you trying to make it? Big over 150 minifigs+ Will you be using additional bricks other than the sets you have mentioned? Of course I will. How will you make the Oliphants? I plan to BL some Elephants and then turn them into Oliphaunts Quote
Captain Settle Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Those Oliphant's will be rather small though. Maybe you should attempt to build one first, before you BL. Quote
purpleparadox Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I'd start by doing some sort of rough draft. Maybe design a layout diagram...or even better; design an olliphant in LDD, post it here, and then we can go from there! It's easier to help when you have something to work with. Sounds like a fun project, and I can't wait to see how it goes. Quote
HawkLord Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Start small and then add brick by brick. This is a project that could be overwhelming before it even starts. I'd also suggest building the Oliphants - in the movie they're huge and if they're not scaled well, they could look very out-of-place (like the upcoming Rancor). Quote
deskp Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 If we are talking movie universe here there shouldnt be a great amount of uruks. Certainly not anyone in armor. I think the lego elephants will be fine as mumakil, lego scale isnt that specific, and you don't want the mumakil that much bigger than the structures. Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Nice project. I think using Uruk-Hai parts is fine, as longer as they don't look exactly like Saruman's Uruks. Try mixing heads and armours with other minifig pieces from older Castle set. When it comes to Mumakil, I'd prefer building your own in bigger scale. It isn't much more expensive than bricklinkin elephants, because those are quite pricy nowadays. Brick-built mumakil also look a lot more interesting and bigger scale makes them look more intimidating. I built this mumak in January 2011 and I'm quite happy with it. purpleparadox Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Pig, that's an awesome mumak! I hope TLG's version is half as good as that. Great work. Thanks for giving us the link! Quote
Watchman Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 you mean like these ? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=124155 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=311727 Quote

What will be my other evil infantry? i cannot get 10 orc forges I think the lego elephants will be fine as mumakil, lego scale isnt that specific, and you don't want the mumakil that much bigger than the structures. I will build one then maybe BL a elephant . I will make the side bits of helms deep larger! To make it like the city and the Uruk armour for Gondor soldiers Edited July 18, 2012 by Duke of wellington Quote
Falconer Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 If we are talking movie universe here Oh God, no. There is no “movie universe.” It’s just art imitating art imitating art. Quote
Duke of wellington Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 I will definitely build 1 Mumakil of HARAD. Quote
Duke of wellington Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) BUMP well after a few months of work we have made a short movie on gondor. Here's my cousin's Gondor(I did help a bit.) Edited April 4, 2013 by Duke of wellington Quote
Balin Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Wow this is so cool. Do you plan on expanding it? Quote
Duke of wellington Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Hopefully i plan first to build a few buildings and the then may start a second level! Do you think a second level or more figs or an osgiliath add on? Quote
Balin Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Second level is a great idea!!!! can't wait to see it! Quote
Deathleech Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 It looks like from the video there were three of you that contributed to this? How old are you guys? For younger members(?) this looks really good. My only suggestion on the Minas Tirith would of been to add some light gray bricks to the lower part to give it some detail and break up the pure white, but it's probably a little late for that now. At any rate, I can't wait to see how this turns out! Quote
Duke of wellington Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Well thanks to BL we will probably hope to have 60-76 Gondorians. Quote
