Soccer/International Football Customs

I have finished the first of several custom soccer/football minifigures. I've already posted my Real Madrid version of Cristiano Ronaldo, so I thought I'd post the rest in just one thread and add them as they become finished.

Here's the first:

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United (2011/12 Kit)

Custom Front, back torso, and head decals. I had painted his hair on the top with acrylic paint to try and match the decal hair...fairly close but hard to match the printer (and I'm new to this small detail painting stuff ). Also, still working out how to get the arm patches on...the clear decal paper doesn't work, as the color of the arm is too dark, and I keep nicking up the white decal paper. Will post when I figure it out.

I've added the Decals (recommended resizing to 0.60" in Microsoft Word to print):

This was my favorite soccer year as a United fan and favorite player that year. I think I like this flesh color better than my other, and the decal turned out MUCH cleaner than my Real Madrid figure found on this post. I would say the face design looks much better and is more useful for us decal'ers because there's no smile to fill in. I used a white marker to fill in the dots of the eyes (brushed them up a bit for the pic ).

As you can see, I murdered the application of the waistline decal...still...nothin a little Sharpie can't help out.

Great custom. It looks great with all the small detailing. I would really love to make my own English Premier League players.

The only thing I don't like about this custom is that it is of a Manchester United player, my least favorite team.

My favorite is Arsenal. Anyways great custom.

Funny you should mention it, I was just finishing up on a Robin Van Persie design. This is using the new 2012/13 Home kit, and would work best on a figure with a red torso, white arms and legs, and I'd suggest using the dark brown spikey hair and spray paint it black (similar to what I used on Ronaldo - see other post). I won't have time to apply it to a figure for quite some time so maybe I'll post it here for you if you'd like. You will need to adjust it to fit the figure, I usually just copy and paste onto a Word document and shrink the width down to 0.60 or 0.61 inches. This is a first pass, but I think should be good. Let me know what you think.

Just finished the Messi and Ronaldo - Man Utd 2008 figs and added the pics and decals above. I think I like this version of Ronaldo and his flesh color better than the other one. Will love to hear what you all think of them. Still hoping to finish Drogba (Chelsea version) and Van Persie this weekend, so stay tuned.

Once again, great customs. The Messi is very good, and the RVP decals are good, except for the fact that he just transfered . Also, you gave Rooney too mutch hair :P

The Messi definitely doesn't have the right hair nowadays, with his shorter hair, but at the beginning of the 2011/12 season he had this hair...which is what I originally based the figure on and ordered parts for. I may post a pic with his shorter hair. The RVP one I think I'm gonna wait until next year, as I can't stand that scottish looking jersey MUtd have this year and it would be good to see him in his new United digs

If only there was a good way to represent hair plugs with Legos, right?

Appreciate the comments everyone! Wish I had more time to do customs, but been busy again at work, may be awhile before I can add more to the collection here. I may try my hand at Fernando Torres, Xavi, Mario Gomez, Iker Casillas, and Beckham for the next go round. And Drogba - 2012 Champions League version is still coming along...face needs adjustments.
