oDDerFisken Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 51b I found this on in a folder somewhere at brickshelf. There are only 3 pics, but its' a nice ship though i think. Just too bad that the builder didn't took some more pics :-| Hole folder (only 3 pics) The Wolf Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 20, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 20, 2006 It looks a bit too brown for my taste. But maybe this is normal for a medieval ship? Quote
ZCerberus Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 It has all the elements, I am just not sure if any of them are complete! In terms of the brown, the camera is also making it look like a lighter brown than it really is I think. Maybe in its real life darker state it isn't as... brown... ;) heehee Quote
Evil Willy Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I have always very much admired this ship, a completly brown ship, too me, looks more realistic..I do not like the use of ladders as railings though, it looks sloppy and not too solid. good ship though. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 20, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 20, 2006 I do not like the use of ladders as railings though, it looks sloppy and not too solid. Do you know a good alternative for the ladders? Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 It looks a bit too brown for my taste. But maybe this is normal for a medieval ship? Wood is brown...Ships are made of wood, some ships in the Pirate era were also brown, but there aren't so much MOC's made in brown. The ships were oftenly painted..Now, over to the ship.. I actually like the fact it's brown! It looks quite realistic. I like the sail configuration, but they look a bit too white to me. The design is very nice. Typicly for the ships from this era is the bonaventura mast(I don't know if it's called like that it English(it's the fourht mast)), a very nice detail. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 20, 2006 Governor Posted December 20, 2006 It looks a bit too brown for my taste. If someone wanted to build a more historically accurate MOC how would they make a wooden ship without being too brown? But maybe this is normal for a medieval ship? Are exotic birds normal for medieval ship? Look a the birdie on the bow! Quote
oo7 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 This here ship was made by a fellow known as Jonathan, son of Josh W, a member of this site along with others, most promently being Classic Castle. I like this ship and the use of the ladders is nice but I don't like the pastelle blue peices and such used on the deck. The overall look is very original. Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I love it, It looks like a real pirate ship. :-D .Nice find!!! ;-) Quote

Scouty Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 It's a nice and cool ship. Though, the bird does throw the color contrast way off the scale. Quote
Captain Roger Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 is good but i miss the cannons...i think the brown colours are cool Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 is good but i miss the cannons...i think the brown colours are cool It's a merchantman... They usually don't have cannons... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 21, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 21, 2006 Are exotic birds normal for medieval ship? Look a the birdie on the bow! This indicates that the ship was sailing in tropical seas when this picture was taken ;-) Quote

If he comes back, he could confirm if it's already took apart or not. If not he could take pictures... Quote

Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 21, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 21, 2006 If someone wanted to build a more historically accurate MOC how would they make a wooden ship without being too brown? By using some paint. The English had a yellow boarder around their ships. But probably the real medieval ships were just brown without any paint. I was looking at some pictures in google, and those old ships were all brown. Quote
El Bucanero Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 By using some paint. Are you gonna paint your lego? :S The English had a yellow boarder around their ships. Only the warships had... Speaking about English warships, I gonna start with my first brick-built-hull ship ASAP, an English one... It will be a brig... Hey this is my 1000th post!!!! :-P :armada1: :armada1: :-D :pirate4: :capn: Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 22, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 22, 2006 Are you gonna paint your lego? :S No Sir, I was talking about colored bricks (yellow, red,...) that are not brown.
