WesternOutlaw Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Just came across this beautiful wooden fort on Maj.com. It appears to be a wooden castle. Something like this would make a great Forestman Fortress. I'm admiring the SNOT techniques used as well as the overall look of the structure. Very nice. Gallery link: Wooden Fortress Quote
oo7 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Looks very nice. This is another CCC4 entry from that snot-loving Mocer who made that Viking Attack Scene with the brick-built sail that the pirates are raving about over there in Forum 68. I really like how the he built the wood planks on a 90 degree angle, not the most original idea, but very well executed. Quote
hewkii9 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Oooh, veery nice. I like those SNOTty walls, and the flag. Those cables holding up the roofs looks interesting. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 Interesting design to have the strings. I'm not sure that I've seen this technique used before on roofs. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 24, 2006 Governor Posted December 24, 2006 I don't like the horizontal use of the wooden walls because it reminds me of corrugated iron or a garage door. Quote
Vaders_son Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Nice Fort, I like the coulor-scheme most *y* Vaders_son Merry Christmas!! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 24, 2006 Author Posted December 24, 2006 I don't like the horizontal use of the wooden walls because it reminds me of corrugated iron or a garage door. I like them a lot. They remind me of a log cabin. This method would work well for WW and Vikings. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 24, 2006 Governor Posted December 24, 2006 Thanks for the reframe Brickster, I can now fully appreciate this MOC! Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I love the double axe over the door idea! *wub* Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 The flag(s) is nicely designed as well. Quote
Berry Syedow Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hmm, this caught my eye on brickshelf a while back. I respectfully disagree with the Brickster that this would make a good Quote
Athos Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 I don't like the burnt orange corners much at all. Other than that, its a great creation. Steve, who wonders why Lego didn't make the log bricks horizontal rather than vertical (hope you're listening Lego, lets make some new molds for these, rather than crappy zwords) Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 29, 2006 Author Posted December 29, 2006 Steve, who wonders why Lego didn't make the log bricks horizontal rather than vertical (hope you're listening Lego, lets make some new molds for these, rather than crappy zwords) Good point Steve. I always wondered this myself, esp. with the WW sets. Quote
Norro Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Nice find! I've always thought the vertical logs suited castle better (motte and baily, tudor frame, etc) and this horizontal log pattern was the western look. This MOC attempts to prove me wrong... ;-) God Bless, Nathan Quote
