Guild name: Skislandor – It is not known when sentient races first settled on the floating rock islands that are now known to collectively be called Skislandor. It is also not known what force holds the giant rocks up in the sky. However it must be noted that the rock islands only float over open water. The rocks themselves vary in size from a few cubic meters to several million cubic meters.

Guild location: Skislandor is a group of clustered islands in the sky over the sea south of Nocturnus and east of Kaliphlin.

Capitol and Ruler: Qili is the capitol of Skislandor and is made up of a cluster of large floating rocks. It is located above a large group of islands off the western coast of Kaliphlin Skislandor is ruled by Asho Kalani who has only recently ascended to the throne after his father, Akos Kalani abdicated due to old age.

Unique characteristics: resilient at great heights, excellent at taming flying creatures.

Color Scheme: Blue and Yellow – blue representing the sky and yellow representing the sun which due to Skislandor's location, is usually unobstructed throughout the day.

Leader: Asho Kalani leads the scattered colonies that make up the Skislander Guild. He is a new leader and hopes to end Skislandor's age old policy of isolation. However many of the leading houses oppose his plans to place Skislandor on the map. Kalani believes that Skislandor cannot remain in isolation forever and that now is the right time to begin incorporating itself in the affairs of the rest of Historica.

20x20 vignette showing the “flavor” of Skislander. Civilians of Skislandor spend their lives flying from one sky island to another. Their main occupation is raising and taming flying creatures. Dragon breeding is one of the most popular vocations at the present time. Architecture is light as life in the Skislandor guild is mostly nomadic.

Excellent work Mikel  I'm glad to see the Conquistador face being used, I'm looking forward to getting a hold of one.

I'm sure your vignette will be impressive as well :classic:

Thanks guys! Finished updating the first post so I think my entry is complete now.

@Ecclesiastes- Skislandor defense would take place in the sky resulting in sky battles so unless someone has a large aerial army to rival Skislandor's, Skislandor defense is quite simple.

I got that, but on your first map your guild was spread out all around historica! But this is much better.

The balloon is excellent, a great use for that dome. Also the clouds are well done and the upside down burp is used great!

Thanks again everyone for your comments!

Yes you were right. At first I was thinking that Skislandor would have different building styles depending on what other guild it was near, but it just didn't look right on the map. I agree it looks much better now.

Dragon riders! I like your build, the floating rock resting on it's clouds and the airship are nicely done. Good to see more factions bearing the falcon heraldry - perhaps we shall be natural allies? Best of luck!

Thanks! As long as Asho remains on the throne of Skislandor.... just hope the other noble houses don't succeed in deposing him! We shall see. I'm decided to let the result of this competition dictate the tale of Skislandor. If I win, Asho stays on the throne. If I don't, then Asho gets exiled and comes to Kaliphlin. I have a feeling though that the other noble houses are too powerful and Asho will get exiled.... :look:

Btw, I have updated Asho (changed his face and hair) and added a picture of his father, Lord Akos.

I love this build...the airship is great, and the floating rock island is exactly what I wanted to do for 5th guild! I'm pulling for this one!

Some great ideas with this entry! I really like the floating island concept, and you've done an excellent job with the rock work on the bottom, and the clouds are perfect! I also like the little platform with the railings beneath, and the of course the balloon is well done. Your residents do seem awfully angry, for the most part

@Kayne- Thanks!

 Residents angry? No, its just the soldiers that are currently unhappy with Asho's plans to get Skislandor involved in the affairs of the rest of Historica.

Wow, I think this is your most impressive build yet Mikel. The use of the Scorpion Palace roof and nets for the airship gave me one of those "why didn't I ever think of that" moments, just brilliant. The clouds look fantastic as well, they really look like the stylised clouds you see on Chinese style temples. A very nice story too. Great entry, good luck with the contest!

Thanks! I was trying to figure out a use for the Scorpion Palace roof as I didn't really like it as a roof (One of the pieces has discoloring from too much sunlight) So when I was trying to think of how to make a balloon the two just connected.

About the clouds, I had tried this technique in the Kaliphlin Times but didn't quite nail it like I wanted to but this time I am quite pleased with how it turned out.
