Once again, I apoligize for the fact that my reviews have no pictures. My camera is broken.

In 2006, the mechas were great on the human side (Except Uplink). But all of them were missing something (Especially Uplink!). And they've now got that in 2007!

And for my hatred of Uplink... Cyclone Defender is much better.

On with the show

CYCLONE DEFENDER

The human boxes seem very similar to the robots. However, their little gold strip with the pilot is a little more... Anime-Style. The Cyclone Defender is shown in a dynamic pose, racing throuigh the Golden City. The back shows a bit of the comic, which in my opinion, is a bit lacking.

The parts may be the best of the human mechs. The dark green stands out, and the yellow and white parts are great for adding detail to any MOC. In addition to this, we also get some of those great Technic/System joints. However, my favorite parts are the two Samurai Swords, not something I've seen much of in sets lately.

Building the Cyclone Defender surprised me. It has a very different build than Claw Crusher. I love building gear-mechanisms, and so I loved building the sheild. It's like a mini Blade Titan. The hollow build, however, is still there and it really makes me sick!

The Ryo minifigure included is great! It has some metallic-gold areas and the new dark colored jumpsuit makes his purple hair stand out so much more. The mecha itself is awesome, with a few drawbacks. First the good: The fingers look so natural grasping the laser gun. Also, the canopy construction is really genius. I really like the wrench included, this adds a play factor for kids. They pop off a plate on Sky Guardian or Blade Titan, then send in Ryo with his wrench to fix it. :-P The bad however, is the lack of articulation, which brings his grade down. I just can't pose Cyclone Defender as well as Claw Crusher.

In the end, I like this set. Not as good as Claw Crusher, its evil twin, but still, I suggest buying it.

SKY GUARDIAN

The metallic box really fits with this years theme. It will definately catch the eye of shoppers, and seeing as these guys protect the Golden City... I love the back. It shows Sky Guardian's features in action. Back on the front, it seems as though Sky Guardian is popping out at you. (This sometimes freaks me out,)

The parts are great. Not as good as its little brother, Cyclone Defender, but you have to love those Technic/System parts, the dark blue plates, and the little rocket pieces. In addition, this mech has a new sword. It's cool looking, but I don't really like the flimsy plastic it's made from. On a brighter note, we see a lot of classic space engine pieces.

The building expierience is one of the best I've had in this line up. The instructions are very straightforward. The most interesting part was building the cockpit. An area that needs improvement are the head mounted guns. They could be on a 2x3 plate to keep them steadier.

The toy itself is fun to play with, my favorite part of the human line up, this year. The minifigure of Hikaru (New type) is very cool. He's also my favorite.m The only negatives are the Zamor Launcher. I like the idea, but this one is hard to shoot. Also, the arms. Because the wings are mounted on the upper arms, it is hard to pose this mecha.

In the end, I love this mecha. I stress that you buy this one if you plan on buying any of the human vehicles!

BLADE TITAN

I never really liked land-based mechas. But this time I stressed it!

The pose is my favorite of the human mechas, The way the blade-shield is coming otu at you, the metallic area, it all adds up to this very attractive package! As with all the mechas, the back shows the feature in action.

The parts are also great here. We have a huge supply of dark red and white bricks. In addition, those who enjoy BIONICLE will rejoice. Two red/white Takanuva blades are included! Also, the Technic/System parts are here, and we see them a lot! Another highlight in this set, and in all other 2007 Exo Force sets, is the huge supply of tiles. Flat tiles galore!

The building expierience was a tad boring. However, I knew I had a great mecha coming so I braved it. I didn't really favor the blade-shield design. It ws flimsy ayt first, but onc eit was built, I like d it. A clever part was the inclusion of cannons neatly attached to the top Technic panels.

The toy itself was great. The actionf eature works beautifully, except for the fact that you must re-set it when you want to make the blades come out again. The articulations great, this set has a lot of free movement included. Along with that, we see an opening cockpit to reveal Takeshi. His red suit is one of my favorites, especially since it's dark red.

In the end, I suggest this set. It feels very, erm, mechaish.

I agree with most that you said, except for the Sky Guardian. The Sky Guardian is the best looking human mech, that's for sure, but the only thing I don't like are the weapons. While the sword is really nice looking, it is too thrown together, it just connects to a technic bit and that is it. And even though the zamor spheres are a favorite shooter of mine, they should not be a part of the main weapon, because that also is thrown together. The zamor launchers should only be used as turrets on gates, vehicles, etc, ect. Anyways great review, but I am sorry to see no pics. Well, at least I took some already. ;-)

Thanks all.

Really dillthepill? I liked Sky Guardian. But then I love all flying mechs except... Gate Defender!

No, I like it, the weapons are just a bit thrown together. And yes, the Gate Defender isn't too good.

Yes. Gate Defender had the potential to be good, but then it was just, ugly. That hand was too big, the missiles looked terrible. And worst of all, Ha-Ya-To was in it! He's not worthy! He's an extra Hikaru with red hair and a bad sense of humor.

I really like the Gate Defender. Small, robust looking... and I'm not a Ha-Ya-To hater...

As a matter of fact I have 3 of them. Great little machines.

Nice reviews BTW.
