General Magma Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Hey everyone, I haven't seen a topic like this one around here yet, and since the LEGO Star Wars sub-forum has one, I figured; why not place one here now that I've started on LEGO photography again? This topic is intended for LEGO Lord of the Rings (anything Tolkien-related, really) photography, so any photography you've done involving LEGO LOTR is welcome here. I haven't seen that many people doing LEGO LOTR photography yet, but hey, this may yet be a point of motivation to get started for some, just like the way I started with LEGO photography after seeing the stuff from the SW folks. To start off, here are my own, first LEGO LOTR shots, all of which were done in the past few days: Uruk-hai Berserker The Uruk-hai Berserkers were the most powerful of Uruk-hai to ever come out of Saruman's pits underneath Isengard. They were larger and even more fearsome versions of the Uruk-hai, and carried large, two-pointed swords with them, ready to rip apart any enemy they crossed paths with. Based on this picture. Uruk-hai Berserker by General Magma, on Flickr The Three Hunters Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli, ready to hunt some orc... The Three Hunters by General Magma, on Flickr The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark "My name is Bilbo Baggins..." "Bagginses? What is a Bagginses, preciouss...?" Not entirely fond of this one, might re-do it in the future once the official Hobbit sets are out. Here's me wishing that Gollum was more pose-able, or at least had the ability to turn his head around... The Hobbit: Riddles in the Dark by General Magma, on Flickr Gollum This one was mostly a lighting test, but I thought it wasn't bad, so here's the last one for now. Gollum by General Magma, on Flickr Enjoy these for now, and feel free to post your own or look around to see what there is so far! Hopefully we'll see more LEGO LOTR photography with this, soon. The_Chosen_1 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Nice shots! Great idea to start a photography thread for LotR too. Quote
ShaydDeGrai Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Cool. I'm no photographer, but I'm happy to throw in a couple shots of the Fellowship passing through the Argonath Other shots from this photo set can be found here. Quote
purpleparadox Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 (edited) Nice photos, both of you! General Magma, I love your Riddles in the Dark shot. I need to get taking some LOTR pics! Edited September 23, 2012 by purpleparadox Quote

General Magma Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Thanks all! Hoping to do some more shots soon, and to see more stuff from others as well. Quote
General Magma Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) Woah, can't believe this topic nearly died. Right, since the highlight of the picture is LOTR, I just wanted to share my traditional LEGO "Happy New Year" picture with y'all. A groupshot of figures from various themes, mainly LOTR. Happy New Year everyone! Edited December 31, 2012 by General Magma Quote
smokebelch Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Happy New Year to everyone :D Great group shot General Magma! General Magma Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Nice shots, smokebelch. Keep 'em coming! Here's another one from me, depicting a scene from FOTR where Frodo can't keep up with the rest and falls down, quickly to be helped up by Aragorn. But Boromir may have other plans... Caradhras: The One Ring Quote
General Magma Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) No new posts? That's a shame. Sorry for the double post, then, here's another Caradhras shot of mine: The Fellowship of the Ring The Fellowship of the Ring travels over the Pass of Caradhras on their way to Mordor, but little do they know about the trouble that lies ahead... For a larger version of it, click on the picture itself. Edited January 17, 2013 by General Magma Quote
Zilcho Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Those last two shots are really nice, General Magma, I really like the one with the ring, ver nice perspective. Quote
General Magma Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Those last two shots are really nice, General Magma, I really like the one with the ring, ver nice perspective. Thanks! I might do more outdoor photography (without snow) of LEGO LOTR or The Hobbit later on. Here's an alternate angle of my most recent picture: Edited January 17, 2013 by General Magma Quote
Plissken Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The Caradhras pictures are great. Fantastic combination of LEGO, real life elements and background pictures. Here is my contribution to this thread. I'll posted the first picture already in another thread, but I think it fits better in this one. The second one is inspired by Riddles in the dark and similar to General Magmas picture in the first post. Enjoy. Quote
General Magma Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Those are some nice shots, Plissken. Keep 'em coming! Always good to have more Middle-Earth photographers around. I should try my hand at some forest environment pics some time as well. Edited January 17, 2013 by General Magma Quote
Captain Nemo Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 As I've stated (And Shown) in the Licensed Forms, I've been taking tons of pictures of minifigures in Black and White with a Color Highlight. For the most part I've so far have only been doing Superheroes, but today I started with some Lord of the Rings ones. I've got 3 done so far: Here's the link to the full set of B&W's. Quote
Vindicare Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Great new shots General, Plissken & Nemo! I love the snowy shot with all the Fellowship, General. Plissken, that Riddles in the Dark is awesome, love the angle of the shot. And Nemo, that Frodo hot highlighting the Ring completely draws your attention to the Ring. It has me saying, " My Precioussssss" Quote
PeteM Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) I thought I'd take advantage of the snow today for a quick photo, though I seem to have filtered it to such an extent that you'd never know it was real snow! ETA: disclaimer - I've never photographed minifigs before and was trying to do it with just an iPhone! Edited January 18, 2013 by PeteM Quote
