RubeusHagrid Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 It seems to me that the HP Microsite at harrypotter.lego.com will be going any day now. I'm a novice, so please excuse me if this is really easy/impossible to do, but is it possible to somehow save the site so I can look at an offline copy in 5 years time where the games, downloads, animations and videos will still work? Thanks Quote
Nintendawg Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 (edited) Thats a very definitive answer deskp. What did you try? I was able to download Battle for Hogwarts flash game by just going to http://harrypotter.l...es/Default.aspx and going "File" > "Save page as". That was using firefox, it resulted in a 3.5 megabyte file so I assume it got the whole game. If you want the entire website though, complete with working links that is more involved. You need specialised software for that. I have personally had success with Offline Explorer but there are other programs along the same lines too. *edit* I was using firefox as my browser. fred67 Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 What OS are you using? Linux, and probably MacOS, should be able to use "wget" from a command line: wget --mirror -p --convert-links -P <dst> <src> where <dst> is the destination directory where you want it to be stored in, and <src> is the base url (http://harrypotter.lego.com). I'd try it right now to verify it works, but I'm using a slow mobile hot-spot. I'm sure you can also download wget for windows, too. Quote
Oky Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I think you can also use the Way Back Machine, although I don't have much experience with it, so I don't know how well it would work. Quote
