Back in the eighties when they started releasing Light And Sound (L&S) sets, all I ever wanted was one of

them. I never got any, so now that I've grown up, I went and bought me some on BL.

This little review might even boost our morale towards the new Life On Mars or Mars Exploriens or whatever

the new theme name is.

The Magma Carrier is a quite cool set. The integration of the power supply (which is actually quite big for

supporting two lights and one sound unit) is done very good.

I also like the vehicle dragging the magma transport. It looks, well, like sort of a moon buggy IMO. And I

fancy the use of those larger (and yet smaller) technic wheels for space cars.

The minifig is a cross-breed between classic space and the later themes... Or something... I guess all there is

to say is that it's cool *y* Unfortunately You only get one with this set.

Finally a full view of the MC, the sound unit and the light-bridge

Congrats. I'm assuming you didnt buy a better light and sound set because it cost too much to justify buying it? I imagine if classic space and futuron space sets cost so much then classic space light and sound sets must cost quite a bit. And do i see a time twister set in the backround? :-) <<rhetorical question>>

Actually I bought the XT Starfigter quite cheap as well. It needs replacing of several white decal bricks. So it'll be a while before I post pics of that beauty.

NB Yes that is a TimeTwister...the time tunnelator....check my brickshelf for more X-D

Well You still can :-) Bricklink or even eBay has this set at a fair price.

well actually, i think this isn't Lego's best set. it's nice because you get a battery box and some great wheels, but that's it....

and btw, Kim, you forgot to give this poor guy his airtanks! :-X :-P

Thanks for the review! I always liked this set, but I never bought it because I was more into the town sets and this car wouldn't fit in that theme.

I love using this electric system in MOC's, only problem is that when you use more then five light-units on one battery the lights will shine less brightly....

I love L&S sets. I got one as a child, the town Rescue Helicopter, which is an amazing design. Recently, I purchased the Jetport Fire Squad, which fills its role nicely. I also have the F-1 hauler, but I gave up on keeping it as a set because the parts are more useful than the set. I also had to replace the lights on the JFS with the ones from the F-1 hauler because one bulb burned out.

I always liked the space L&S sets but never got any of them. I liked the Alpha Centauri Outpost and the one Space Police I spaceship that had it. The Magma Carrier looks like a good set for L&S pieces, but it's not that great of a set without them. Several of the pre-Futuron L&S models are better designs overall.
