Bayou Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 Hi, For a contest on SeTechnic, I had to make a MOC about R2-D2...here is my entry which is my idea of what looked like the R2D2 factory at the beginning of R2D2 construction. the ground floor is for sales and repair shop, the first floor for factory, the second floor for research and engineering and the roof for communications. The front is only on 2 faces because I hadn't enough pieces to make it on 4 and I imagined a factory much bigger, so I had to keep 2 faces without walls. ------------- STRUCTURE ----------------------------- Floors : Empty front : ------------- THE ROOF --------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- ENGINEERING FLOOR ---------------------------- Low temperature tests : Fire tests : Rolling tests : ------------- FACTORY FLOOR ----------------------------- Human inspector and server Assembly line : ------------- GROUND FLOOR ----------------------------- Sales on the left of the picture and after sales service on the right First customers, empire obviously... Saleman's desk : ------------- GROUND FLOOR : ASV ----------------------------- Take a ticket and wait for you turn ... ...evenn if it's a bit long ... Thanks for watching, C&C welcomes... North Lego Star Posted November 10, 2012 Posted November 10, 2012 WOW! This is a great MOC Bayou, the detail on the inside is really good and the sleekness of the outside is incredible. Wonderful Job Quote
Bayou Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 I've just modified the left face : I added a tropical greenhouse...to test droids in Endor's conditions. Quote
DarthPotato Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Wow, fantastic job! I love the brick-built R2 you have on the wall! Quote
HawkLord Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Wow, that building has everything! Looks really good, man. Feels like a retro car dealership with sci-fi elements. Edited November 11, 2012 by Hawkman Quote
Bayou Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 Thanks guys, "Hi-tech retro" is a good definition of what I wanted to do. Quote
DFOL Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 The building itself doesn't really have that Star Wars look and feel, to me it looks more like a real building from our present day life. But i have to admit that you did produce a MOC of outstanding quality. The detailing is exquisit on both the exterior of the building as well as the work areas inside. There are many details i enjoyed a lot, but my compliments in particular for the brickbuilt conveyor belt and R2 logo on the outer wall. Thanks for sharing this wonderful creation Bayou! Quote
Bayou Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 @DFOL : Thanks, I agree with you about the building design. My aim was to imagine the begginin of producing R2 in a near futur days. Every big company started in an old building - or in a garage :) - before build is own one. Quote
Esurient Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Wonderful, I just cannot take my eyes off your roof. It is just how I imagined what my city moc would be like. Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Very unique. The modular building layout is great, and the fun details add a good flair. Quote
icarusbird Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 That's brilliant! Your attention to detail is remarkable: the nice clean tiles in the sales room, the scorch marks on the wall in fire-testing, even a security camera! So original and creative, I love it. Quote
Bayou Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Thanks, I like to imagine and place littles details like these...and I appreciate when you notice them ! Quote
digibeet Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Thank you!!! This one is really great. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 This had a huge smile on my face the whole time I was looking at it. Great work, love the brick built R2D2 sign and the whole car dealership feel of the first floor. Quote
