mrts Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I was just looking through some of my lego pictures i collected and can't figure out what kind of lego piece the pepper and salt set are. I really have no idea. At first i thought that they were just 2 flat 1x1 pieces...but they are even smaller then 1x1!! Just compare them with the floor of the kitchen made of 1x1 tiles..... Is anyone able to solve this mystery for me? What is this piece called? Where can i find it? BTW This kitchen is NOT my work. I dont know the artist name anymore, otherwise i would have named him/her. Hope anyone is able to help. X-O Quote

El Bucanero Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Modulex? Is that something TLG made? Quote
mrts Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 Modulex? Is that something TLG made? "...Modulex bricks are smaller 'cousins' of LEGO bricks. They were originally developed by the LEGO company (many decades ago) and marketed to professional architecture firms and such (not as a retail toy). Possibly to the surprise of many LEGO collectors, these bricks are still manufactured today (by the now independent, but LEGO-related, company Modulex). Modulex bricks are not compatible with typical LEGO bricks. The standard 1x1 Modulex brick (or 'component' as the company refers to them) is 5mm cubed (yes, they are perfect cubes, unlike LEGO unit bricks which are taller than they are wide or deep). The colors are also different than LEGO colors... much more in the 'pastel' frame of mind they are...." This information and more can be found on the site asuka gave earlier. Hope this helps. *y* Quote

mrts Posted January 23, 2007 Author Posted January 23, 2007 I just orded a couple of modulex bricks today! Including a black 1x1 piece! So the pepper part of the pepper and salt idea is done X-D. Now i'm looking for a 1x1 white brick to complete it. Tomorrow i should recieve my pepper part (together with a couple of other modulex parts). I can't wait!! :-P Quote
xenologer Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 They're Cubes? X-O Doesnt that mess up a lot of SNOT dimensions? no more 2studs=5plates no more 1 stud brick sideways + the stud of the brick below it being as tall as another brick? I wonder how they build Anything with those bricks. lols :-D Quote
Asuka Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 I just orded a couple of modulex bricks today! Now that Quote

I think you can build more complex things with normal lego....still they used it to design buildings and stuff...i guess its a reason why its not used any more these days?? Or is it still used professionaly to design stuff?? I'm not sure... Now that Quote
Holodoc Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 No way to get one or two bricks for a salt/pepper set. ;-) I just orded a couple of modulex bricks today! OK, you got me. Congratulations on your buy! *y* How much did you get for what money? And where did you buy it, Bricklink? Any other ideas how to use modulex with lego? If you plan to build bigger mocs you could use it for mosaics (on houses/on walls, etc.) But toys for minifigs is also a great idea! :-) Quote
mrts Posted January 24, 2007 Author Posted January 24, 2007 AAARGH!!! >:-( >:-( I just recieved the mail containing the modulex bricks.....and you know what? The f*cking mailman has ripped open my mail and has taken-out all parts!!! Now i have nothing! *sing* Quote

The f*cking mailman has ripped open my mail and has taken-out all parts!!! Now i have nothing! *sing* well, have you thuroughly checked the box? From what i've seen they're very small and could have been hidden in the box. And if you're right he took all of them? If so you should report it to the mayor or some other goverment offical and get this mail man brought to justice, after what he did is an invasion of your privacy and against the law. Quote

I already reported it to the mailing company, but its useless. They apologice, and the man who did it is untraceable i think. Its not sure who did it. It could be the mailingman, but also someone from the 'sorting' department at the mailing company for example....i think i'm just screwed and have to order them again. :'-( Quote
Norrington Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 If you are buying form the net, request it be put in a small cardboard box, egardess of how much you buy. Quote
mrts Posted January 28, 2007 Author Posted January 28, 2007 Just to say everything worked out ok. MrTS is now a happy and proud owner of some Modulex bricks :-P Nice. Now i'm planning on buying some white 1x1 modulex bricks from someone in England, and then i have my precious pepper&salt set. *sweet* And the pepper&salt set bricks have 'lego' written on top of the studs, which is something i think was very important. Yes, i'm happy again! PS sorry for the oversized pictures. 8- Quote
Sir Dillon Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Hey, congrats on your purchase, MrTs. :-) I'm glad things were able to work out for you. I want some of those now... Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 They are looking sooo cute.... *wub* Yes, it's as if Lego had babies :-D I didn't really care about them before, but maybe just for the collector in me... Quote
mrts Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 Yes, it's as if Lego had babies :-D I didn't really care about them before, but maybe just for the collector in me... Yes i have the same thing. I just had to have at least one of those pieces. :-| They are absolutely not compatible with normal LEGO. I tried all kinds of things to integrate modulex into lego, but i havent found anything that really works good, yet. I guess it really is a collectors item.....and a pepper and salt set X-D They are looking sooo cute.... *wub* :-D...I have to agree @Sir Dillon: thx ;-) Quote
