Winter Village Store

This set is approximately 1400 parts with 7 minifigs (so similar in size to the Winter Village Cottage).

The complete set features the village store with interior, a roast chestnut stall, a delivery lorry and a stone bench.

The delivery lorry, complete with deliveries and driver.

I'd have preferred to have built this entirely using dark blue, but the overall color choice was limited by the availability of certain parts.

The other elements of the set, the roast chestnut stall and stone bench.

The interior of the village store.

There's no upper floor for two reasons. Firstly, adding it with sufficient details such as furniture, would have probably pushed the parts count over 2000 parts, much larger than even the Winter Village Cottage. Secondly, and more importantly, for playability, as adding the upper floor would have made certain elements on the ground floor much harder to access (and much harder to photograph clearly).

More details of the interior, including the fully stocked refridgerator and vegetable section.

Again, one of the hardest parts of these contests is selecting five photos to showcase the entry, so be sure to check out the full set on Flickr.

Fantastic build! This looks and feels as it should!

Normally indon't care much for cars, but this truck just does it for me.

The interier looks amazing. It does feel like there had to be something in the top half, but a lot of stores have high roofs. :-)

My hat is of for you!

Very good grocery/general store. Personally I would lose the truck from the build and use the bricks for some more detail in the roof area of the store.

That's a very beautiful store, although I am missing the upper floor. An upper floor with only some storage boxes would be enough.

I find also the roof on the inside a bit dull. Two or three beams would suffice.

The lorry is beautiful. I wish TLG would sell these as small sets.

My favorite detail however is the chestnut stand, and especially the use of the bucket handle.

While I think the truck is a bit too tall (the hood/bonnet is taller than the minifig) the design is brilliant. My favourite part of this, though, is the interior of the store. There are so many nice details there, especially the shelves behind the counter and the rack with the clip plates hanging from it. Well done - one of the best entries thus far!

Wow! I wouldn't mind buying a building like that.

The design is fantastic, but I wish there where something under the roof (where there could be a first floor), it seems a bit bare.

But the tiny cheastnutstand is pretty, very pretty.

So good luck to you.

Excellent build. I really like that roof, looks like the fresh snow has gathered up top. That truck is great! Right up there with 10222 Winter Village Post Offices truck. Great work. This certainly would not look out of place among the official series.

Thanks for the comments, especially about the first floor.

It was a hard decision not to do something there, but I really wanted to keep the detail of the ground floor visible.

With my entry last year for the Winter Village II contest, one half of my Winter Village Bicycle Shop had two floors and in the end you couldn't see any of the details for either floor of that section. Even the official Winter Village Cottage set has a similar problem. I really like the detailed kitchen, but most of it is obscured once the bedroom is been added over the top (unless you look at it from a minifig's point of view).

Probably the best solution for this sort of issue would be some kind of removal first floor ...

While I think the truck is a bit too tall (the hood/bonnet is taller than the minifig) ...

If you look at the snowplough in the Winter Village Cottage set, you'll see that the hood / bonnet is a similar height (though I know this isn't the best example of a vehicle).

These sorts of vehicles do have a high hood / bonnet. The cab is raised up higher than in a normal vehicle like a car, and the driver needs to step up into it.

You're right! I didn't realise that until now. Oh lovely. Now I think that one's too tall as well :D

I really like this. I do think a second floor, even just for storage would add quite a bit to it. I aso like your idea about a removable scond floor to give more visibility to the first floor.

It's great to see a fully-snow-covered roof (I think I was the only entry like that last year  ) and your tile row as jagged is nice. The interior is very detailed for such a tight spot, which is not easy to do, we all know! Love the glass-front frig/cooler

Best of luck!
