SamBo Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I want to start off by saying how cool this competition is and I'm really loving some of the entries made by others! I wanted to make something using the old-style Duplo pig. When I was a wee little toddler this pig was my absolute favourite toy. Other kids had their blankets or their teddies etc, I had this. I couldn't talk properly (being only about 18 months old), but I called it "Iggy" (I had issues pronouncing "P" sounds). I once lost Iggy and it was the absolute end of the world for me. My mum couldn't find another one anywhere as it was no longer sold. Bricklink was a few decades away, but my Mum kept trying. She ended up calling Lego here in Australia and being the cool company they are, they sent us another Iggy. There's my "Nice-guy Lego Group story." Anyway, onto the build: It took me a while to work out what to build. It needed to fit the pig so it had to be reasonably large, and I wanted to try and steer away from the obvious choices of space ships and mechs etc. Then I thought of those big Chopper bikes I've seen on TV. I then thought of making a trike version to not only balance, but have extra room for sci-fi stuff. Here is the result, the Hog Trike: (brickshelf images may take a while to be moderated, in the mean time use the flickr link at the bottom) I made little slopes on the top of the chair to fit Iggy's feet. He sits in place quite nicely and doesn't fall out even if you drive the trike around. Since the pig doesn't have any movable parts I had to design the seat and handle-bars to hold the pig in place.
