touthomme Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I decided to go with The City of Tomorrow for my micro sci-fi entry. It's a throw back to the vision of the future as it was back in the golden years of science fiction. Here's an edited photo in the style of the classic SF magazine Amazing Stores: And some unedited shots from other angles: Enjoy! J Quote
Andy D Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Just wow! This is great! I've got to start doing some micro builds. Yours and others just scream GREAT! Andy D Quote
Praiter Yed Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Absolutely love this! You've captured the retro-sci-fi feel perfectly. I particularly like how you've created the impression of windows using the wedge plates. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 It really looks like a 60's science fiction! Great job Quote
Wedge09 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Really nice work  Very futuristic Quote
Joff_Draeven Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 25c?? We ARE back in the 50s! Great build Quote
Darkblane Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 That's a very sleek build. I especially like the combination of wedges / wedge plates to give the effect of windows. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Beautiful. I love how you used an engine for the monorail. And the contrast between sleek and futuristic and greenery is really nice. Quote
Artifex Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Is it me or have I just spotted the Jetsons flying around the city? Amazing retro-futuristic style! Perfect! Quote
dpb1298 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Artifex are you still doing animated reviews???? there have not been any for over a month Quote
TenorPenny Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I agree: the wedges-as-windows technique is terrific. Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 This is awesome, great job! All the green looks nice and colorful, and the raised platforms are superb! Really loving the gold balls as well! Awesome work! Quote

A Plastic Infinity Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Praise the power of parabolic pieces. Nice job! Quote
touthomme Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks for all the great replies! Stacking wedges so the notches look look like windows has been something I've wanted to do for a long long time (like years) and I'm stoked that I finally built a MOC that used that technique. I'm really impressed at the quality and quantity of entries for this contest. Amazing! J Quote
OneSetWonder Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Fantastic. So evocative of the look and superb build. Whatever happened to yesterday's tomorrow, anyway? Quote
