Hi

After taking a while to find a good time to upload this, as there have been a few good variations of this Modular plus the Coastguard version and after several requests, I thought now was a good at time as any to upload my version of a 2 bay MOD of the 10197 Fire Brigade. I built this over a year ago and realy only some internal details to finish it off. The building has been extended to the rear also to accomodate the fire engines based there. As my trucks are 23 studs long I needed 25 studs clearance and I wanted a bit of space all around so I built this station on a 48stud long baseplate and the applaince hall floor is 32 studs long using 2 x 16 stud tiles. There is even enough room for the engine from 7945 if it was stationed there.

Front View - Date of when Station was extended

Rear View - On roof you can see the enclosure for the pole drop from the room and this goes direct to the Ground floor.

Side (Junior officers room)

Side (Breathing Apparatus servicing room)

Appliance Hall - Engine Room

Upper Floor Rear (clockwise - Dorm, Pole Drop, Lecture Room, Senior Officer's office, Bathroom)

Upper Floor Front - Not much different from the original but extra sofa and a table with chairs

Hope you liked it and comments are always welcome.

Impressive modications there 'scottwb2010' only hose drying racks are missing......Brick On ! :classic:

Thanks LT. The hose used here can be dried when rolled up, so no need to hang from the tower unlike the old canvas hose had to be. A Tower is a futre project tho!

Very nice modifications, scottwb2010!

My only question is: how do the minifigs get in the open spaces in the side of the building?

Thanks 'Artifex'. The minifigs enter the Junior Officers room and The BA servicing room room through the doors leading from the appliance hall near to the rear wall. They are DBG 1x6x4 with Trans blue glass although the one in the BA service room is open in the photo. There is also a door to the outside in the rear wall in the BA room.

Great expansion. However I'm also getting the 'double vision' effect when I look at the front. I think it might be better just to have one central bell tower / year arch / big window in the middle, and double up the smaller side windows instead. Appreciate this might break up the flow from the roller doors up to the big windows - so it's a tricky problem - but might be worth a try to see if it looks better.

Looks good and looking forward to seeing the finishing touches.

Why have you numbered the bays 1 & 4? Will there be another couple of bays in between at some point?

I agree about the central bell tower but I'm not sure how you'd do it as it will looker even stranger to have the two arches above the bays but only one tower in between them...

Cheers

This is a very fun modification. I don't recall if I asked how many copies of the set it took.

Thanks 'Luke Styler'. It is basically done with 2 sets and extra LBG bricks and black plates.

Looks good! Even though I had the feeling at first that I am peering at the images, seeing it double

Thanks 'Missing Brick'. This was my first go at MODing a set so my skills wern't up to much, but I felt it was better to try and keep some symitry from the roller door up. For my 3 bay WIP MOD, I have something more like what you suggest. Hopefully get progressing this soon. Cheers again!

Thanks 'rriggs'. This is staying a 2 bay station, but the numbers relate to the engines based there. 1 denoting a Rescue Pump and 4 denoting the Emergency tender.

That is very cool! The transition is very smooth. One thing I think would make this MOC just that much more unique, is to add a taller single bell tower. If you make a single one, I think that it would make it look less of two sets combined, and more of a single build. Very well done though! I do quite like it!

Nice MOD! It looks a lot grander now.

Thanks 'Captain Settle'. When I finish the 3 bay one it will be even grander. I hope. lol

Cheers 'Bighappysmiles'. A few have commented on having one bell tower. This is my plan for my 3 bay station, but may try it out on this one to see what it looks like.

Saw this on bookshelf awhile back looks awesome. It's a great inspiration to the 2 bay station that I'm trying to build. Maybe I'll steal...I mean borrow some ideas from you

Thanks for the comments 'tomdobs55'. Feel free to borrow any idea's. To me thats the whole point of people uploading photo's, ie 1 - to show off your build and 2 - to give others ideas that they can borrow and inspiration . IMO

PS what is bookshelf?
