Kai NRG Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 First of all, I'm sorry. I know I said that Escape From Cedrica would be my last pre-Challenge VI story-build but... well... I was wrong! And secondly, this is the end of my Journey of Exploration, however as that is now so far back and this is not in the shape or style of the previous builds, I'm posting it in a separate topic. I hope you enjoy it, even if you don't read the story! Story: August 20th. We are now in Barqa, though the story of our arrival here is something of a complicated one that is best explained somewhere else. Ageven, much to the surprise of his following, myself excepted, has bought a fairly large ship. I have been told to prepare for a long voyage. I can only speculate on what its use will be for the moment, but I have no doubt that we will hear more ere long. August 21st. My suspicions have been confirmed, and all too accurately. You may perhaps remember my hinting, some time back, of a return voyage, back to the East, to the land where I was born. To say truth, I would not mind visiting the land once again half so much as the voyage. But Ageven is resolved, he has the route planned out - though it will be observed that he declines to go on it - Raz and I will travel back to the east. I know not whether to rejoice or be sad, and it appears I will have no time to decide, for we leave in two days time and there is so much that must be done before hand! Azc will off to Queenscross, to fight in it's defense, so it appears we will soon all be scattered to the four winds - Ageven and Kaflar plan to go round the countryside, recruiting men for Historica's grand fight against Victor Revolword. And here I will end - for now. Hurrah for the land of mountains and deserts, swamps and snow, myth and magic! One day, when Revolword has been defeated, I shall once again roam the countryside of Historica, but for now, we must do all in our power to protect her! End of Story. See the slot by Raz's legs? The boat is also a Treasure Bank (with a slightly different crew): And it can float! Sort of. Below is the Flickr Set: Thanks for checking it out, one of my best yet and certainly my best boat (though that is not saying much)! Quote
Gideon Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Nice boat, the brick-built sails look really good! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I agree with Gideon, those sails look great nice railing around the deck as well Quote
Niku Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Looks good. Floating is a nice addition. Great part usage for replacement of veils. Quote
SkaForHire Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Is it bad that my favorite picture is the sinking ship? I think that is really cool how you did that! Great job, and nice to see what was up with the characters. Quote
Kai NRG Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Thanks Gideon, SK, and Niku! I'm not one to make paper sails so I'm glad I have several of those round pieces in a sufficiently neutral color to use for a ship! Is it bad that my favorite picture is the sinking ship? I think that is really cool how you did that! Great job, and nice to see what was up with the characters. No problem. Actually I tried to get the entire thing to float but it touched bucket bottom before I could get my hands out from under it. Not seaworthy! And since it was for a MOCathalon category I couldn't just give up, unfortunately... so I decided to lighten the load until it floated (actually wasn't my idea, but boy am I thankful! Saved me a ton of work!) Quote
Captain BeerBeard Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 I have to agree with the others. It's really cool and very well made. Quote
Maxim I Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I think I already commented on this on flickr, but I do really like the boat so here is another one: A really lovely ship you made there Kai!!! I also like it's function as coin holder :D Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Really nice work, especially because it's brick build. It can be hard making sails looking good like that but you managed to do it! Quote
Mike S Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Thats a nice ship you made there! The way the tiles are aranged in rows reminds me of a reed ship... Quote
Kai NRG Posted April 23, 2013 Author Posted April 23, 2013 Thanks to all of you! Thats a nice ship you made there! The way the tiles are aranged in rows reminds me of a reed ship... Thanks! I don't recall having seen a reed ship, but it does looks reedy, so to speak... Quote
