ssgdave Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I am having issues with my Emerald Night derailling as it goes through switches. This issue may have come up a long time ago and there are just too many topics to try and look back that far. Can anyone give me a solution/cure to my problem? Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Which direction of travel is it going when it derails and on what part of the switch. Also, what wheels derail. Quote
ssgdave Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Travelling forward. The first set of guide wheels make the transition, it's the PF drivewheels that derail. It appears that the gap in the track on the switch is the issue. I have no problems with my other PF trains, but I am looking at the surface the track is on to make sure it is level also. Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 which part of the switch exactly? The frog or the points? If its the points your switch may be damaged. But the EN does have many running issues anyway. Does it happen on only one switch? Or on every switch it goes over? Quote
ssgdave Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 I believe that small gap in the track in the V of the switch is the issue. I have swapped out the switches and have even put a 9v switch in and the same thing happens. I think i am just going to run the EN on it's own loop from now on. Quote
Rijkvv Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 In Railbricks issue 7 there are some problems written about the Emerald Night. About derailments: "Be sure to have enough cable length between the locomotive and the tender. Better a bit too long then a bit short. This can be the reason of derailing at points." Quote
