Zerobricks Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 All wheel drive, lockable diffs, 2 gears, live axle portal suspension, etc... More pictures tommorow after i finish interrior. Quote
cgg199 Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 I like that a lot. Great work. Have you used the RC Buggy motors for drive? Quote
z3_2drive Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 ah was about to ask... anyway the truck looks huge. does it perform well considering only 2 motors for such a large truck? or does it have lots of reduction in the lower gear? Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 I ahve tested the model with bodywork yet, but without its climbe quite good. The gear ratios to the wheels are 1:6 in high and 1:18 in low. And remember the RC motors are powered by RC unit, so there is no limitations to relase the motor's full power. Quote
AndyCW Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Can't wait to see the delta in performance between this and my project due to the RC unit and its increased ability to supply the hungry motors. I have a lot of questions, but they will wait untill the rest of the pictures are posted. Hopefully we will also get to see a video of the performance. v/r Andy Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 It looks mighty huge! I can't wait until the video! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 To be perfectly honest I think it would look better as a 'suv'. I look forward to the video. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Awesome! Another AMG G! This looks pretty serious. Excellent job so far Zblj! Hope the video features this off road Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 Today I finished the interrior and tried it out. Its not an extremem crawler as my Panther, or the Titan, buts its capable enough for some outdoor fun. Its also much faster in the high gear. I will make a video soon. So far its performance good considreing the weight and number of gears. I am thinking, that the next time i make a simillar truck, there should be no locking diffs, because they add more gears and dont help too much in cornering. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 Nice G, Zblj! I like the white color scheme. You've done a nice job replicating the body lines of the real 6x6 G. Quote
Lakop Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 (edited) A nice large scale model. I look forward to more pictures and a video. Please can we have some pictures of the underside. Thanks H Edited April 16, 2013 by Horace T Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted April 16, 2013 Posted April 16, 2013 WOW this MOC is a real masterpiece! Great work! Quote
hrontos Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Looks really good. I like the overall look of the body in combination with the wheels. It seem to be just in the right proportions. And the white body makes it look even nicer. Looking forward to see it in action. Quote
Balrog Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 I really like the looks. I am really looking forward to more pictures and video. The only thing, that strikes me, is that it seems to be a bit to long. Or is it just the perspective from the pic DLuders posted? Oh and: Do you plan to make instructions or at least a digital model of it? Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) Its not too long, dont worry. Will see about LDD instructions, maybe for a later revised version, if there will be one. Here are more pictures as requested: Edited April 17, 2013 by Zblj Quote
AndyCW Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Looks huge. The underside shots are good. Are those three links? Are those 9:1 axles? Are they air lockers or mechanical lockers? Can they be selected individually? What style of transmission did you use? Any parts breakage? Do you think that if you shed some weight and reduced it to a 4x4 it would perform significantly better? v/r Andrew v/r Andrew Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 17, 2013 Author Posted April 17, 2013 Suspension uses 3 links, yes with one of them an A arm on top Axles ahve 1:6 gear ratio, 12:12:24, 8:24 All axles lock when transmission is in low gear Tranmission uses 2 old styled diff casings, one for 1:3 gear and other for central diff. It also has a 16z clutch gear, 16z gear and a 8z gear, totalling 6 gears for 2 speeds, which means there are only 3 gears from motor to axles including central diff. No part breakage so far, but the central diff did slip once due to used gears. New ones dont slip. It should perform better in 4x4, but i really love the 6x6 Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 (edited) (pic of real truck) Holy sh*t, it a real truck?! What kind of price tag does this come with? Edit: I guess $300k Edited April 17, 2013 by LEGO Guy Bri Quote
timslegos Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 I love the white color scheme. Do the axles have enough clearance with the diffs in them? Tim Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 18, 2013 Author Posted April 18, 2013 More clearance than 9398, some 2-3 studs more. Quote
