Jetrax99 Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 So, I did a mech for Evo befor, but this is my second take on it. I used all I had to work with that would work well so this is only temporary. Also, I'm gonna be disassembling it and only keeping the harness intact as I want all my sets on display. DraikNova Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Well, if you ever try making something like this again, add more armor and flesh out the lower legs. Quote
Aanchir Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Very neat. I agree with DraikNova; the lower legs and feet are one of the places where this could use work. With a model this size, it's important for it to look like it has a stable foundation. Otherwise, it starts to look rickety and precarious rather than powerful and intimidating. I feel like the yellow parts on the center portion of the mech are a bit distracting as it becomes hard to tell how exactly he's strapped in and holding the controls at a glance. However, this may be less of a problem in real life than in photos since there'd be a sense of depth. Yellow on the legs or arms would be fine, but as it is it makes things a bit confusing from front view. The claw is nice, although if you were to fiddle around with some Technic that'd be a great place to incorporate a function, and the blaster is well-suited to a model of this size. Finally, Witch Doctor's leg design works very well for this mech. So that was an excellent design decision. Just needs some more armor on those lower legs. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 Yes, I know I need more armor on the legs, but as I said, I used what I had to work with. I don't have enough armor in gunmetal for the mech. If I added armor, it would all be white and would drastically clash with the rest of it. But thanks for the comments and advice. Quote
WARHEAD Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I really love the idea but it all seems kinda unstable, like a gentle wind would topple it over. I'd agree with the above comments that it needs more armoring on the legs and i'd just add more covering in general. Consider shortening the legs for a more stable look too, height isn't everything when it comes to looking powerfull. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 (edited) height isn't everything when it comes to looking powerfull. Tell that to everyone complaining about Bulk nowadays. And yes, it's quite unstable, but as of now it's been disassembled in favor of all my HF sets. I may do what I did with Witch Doctor and add a stand made of technic beams in order to keep it from toppling. It keeps the good Doctor from toppling. Edited April 21, 2013 by Jetrax99 Quote
BrickBuilder3213 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 If only Evo XL Machine was designed like this... Quote
Chro Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 It's a nice start... but I feel that the limbs could use a lot of work (the legs are weirdly gappy, etc.). Quote
Jetrax99 Posted November 14, 2013 Author Posted November 14, 2013 It's a nice start... but I feel that the limbs could use a lot of work (the legs are weirdly gappy, etc.). As I said, not enough gunmetal armor. Don't have any purple either. Currently it's disassembled and the legs are on White Lotus over on BZP for BBC 66. Quote
